1 ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN NORWALK COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND STAMFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS The signatures below represent agreement with the statements and conditions set forth in the Articulation Agreement for the Business Technologies/HEIGHT Associate Degree Program. 2 ARTICULATION AGREEMENT FOR ADVANCED PLACEMENT INTO THE BUSINESS TECHNOLOGIES/HEIGHT ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAM Norwalk Community College (NCC) and Stamford Public Schools (SPS) mutually agree to the following conditions for granting college credit to those secondary school students enrolled in appropriate courses at SPS related to Business Technologies. GENERAL PROVISIONS: HEIGHT Program The HEIGHT (Help-Education-Industry-Gain-High-Technology) program gives the high school student an opportunity to earn up to 12 Norwalk Community College credits while enrolled in high school. Upon graduation from high school, students enter Norwalk Community College with advanced standing. College credits cannot be given retroactively. A student must register and identify his/her intentions to receive college credits during the initial registration period 9 th or 10 th grade of high school. Check with your high school s Business Technologies chairperson. The program in business and business technologies awards college credits at Norwalk Community College for specific courses taken at Stamford Public Schools. For instance: Take these courses at Stamford Public Schools Earn these NCC college credits 203 Keyboarding BOT 111 Keyboarding for Information Processing I Word Processing I BOT 112 Keyboarding for Information Processing I Desktop Publishing BOT 266 PowerPoint and Publisher for Business 3 Through the High School Partnership Agreement, Student registers and takes NCC s BOT 264 Word for Business Online and completes the course at their respective high school or home computer. 3 Total college credits 12 Students who transfer to NCC with advanced standing of 12 college credits earned in high school must complete the following sequence of freshman and sophomore courses to earn the 60/61 credits needed for the Associate of Science degree.

4 REQUIREMENTS FOR STAMFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS Stamford Public Schools agrees to: 1. Designate a SPS Coordinator of the Business Technologies Dept. as the school contact for the program, responsible for implementing provisions of this agreement. 2. Inform students about the articulation program beginning in the 9 th grade. The information will be in written form and included in course descriptions. Counselors and teachers will also be provided with program information. HEIGHT PROGRAM: Three college credits will be awarded for each one of the approved courses, based on the following requirements: a. An academic final grade of C or better must be attained in the high school course. b. Credit will be awarded to any student who completes one semester at Norwalk Community College as a Business Technologies student within one year of graduation from high school. The High School Partnership Agreement Who can enroll: High school juniors and/or seniors with a B average may qualify for this program if they have the prerequisite academic preparation and skills. Check with your high school counselor about eligibility requirements. How it works: Junior and/or seniors may take one or two courses at NCC in the fall and/or spring semester. Theses students may earn up to six college credits per semester or twelve credits per year. High School Partnership is not available during the summer semester. How to apply: Student consults with high school counselor. Students so recommended will take the accuplacer test battery to determine eligibility for college level courses. Obtain an NCC New Student Application from the High School Complete and return the application to your high school counselor. No fee is required. A parent or guardian s signature is required. Have an up-to-date high school transcript, a measles and rubella immunization record, and a recommendation from your counselor included with the application. 3. Market the program and recruit students for the courses. 4. Meet once a year with the NCC Coordinator of the Business Technologies program to monitor student progress. 5. Assist the NCC Coordinator in evaluating and revising the curriculum as necessary. 6. In May, SPS completes the HEIGHT Transfer Credit form, submits it to the NCC Business Technologies Coordinator for signature so appropriate high school course transfer can be processed by NCC Admissions Office.

5 REQUIREMENTS FOR NORWALK COMMUNITY COLLEGE Norwalk Community College (NCC) agrees to designate the Coordinator of Business Technologies as the contact person for SPS. 1. To receive NCC credit, the student will present his/her high school transcript at the time of application. NCC will determine how such credits will be designated on transcripts. 2. The SPS Business Education Coordinator and SPS Counselor will prepare the HEIGHT transfer Credit form. This form will be submitted to the NCC Coordinator of the Business Technologies by May 15 th for signature. NCC Coordinator will then submit this form to Admissions for course credit transfer. 3. The NCC Coordinator will provide students with information about NCC and assist in the application procedure. 4. The NCC Coordinator will assist in evaluating and revising the high school courses/curriculum.
