1 Ministry Purpose: Job Description for Toddler Nursery Volunteer: day to the lesson and theme in words the child can understand. Everyone needs to have a background check done before being able to volunteer for our children s safety. Being dependable is also one of your roles as a volunteer. Our main purpose is to help these young children start to grow in their spiritual formation in Christ with each little task in the nursery. Service Expectations: Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled service time. Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray individually for children as they play, as they listen to the story and for the other caregivers as you work together. Fill up water jug. Oversee the check-in process. All children should have name stickers on their back. All cups and bags should also be labeled. Give children snacks and watch over them while they eat at the little table. Put all dirty dishes and slobbered on toys in the dirty dish bin. Oversee the check-out process. Parents will need their ticket to claim their child. If they don t have they will need to wait for the Children s Minister before the child is released. Clean and straighten the room after the children leave. Report and concerns or ideas for improvement to the Children s Minister. Attend occasional Early Childhood Ministry meetings.

Our main purpose is to help these children grow in their spiritual formation in Christ through telling them bible stories, reading to them, singing them songs, praying, and building friendships with the children. Service Expectations: Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled service time. Fill up water jug and turn on special lights before children arrive. Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray individually for children as they play, as they listen to the story and for the other caregivers as you work together. Oversee the check-in process. All children should have name stickers on their back. All cups and bags should also be labeled. Make sure gate is closed and locked at all times. Have a junior volunteer open and close the gate as children come in and go out to leave. Give children a snack and watch them as they eat at the tables. Put dirty dishes in the dirty dish bin. Take children to ladies washroom all at once. There is a skipping rope that they all have to hold on to while they walk to and from the washroom as you lead them. Oversee the check-out process. Parents will need their ticket to claim their child. If they don t have they will need to wait for the Children s Minister before the child is released. Clean and straighten the room after the children leave. Report and concerns or ideas for improvement to the Children s Minister. Attend occasional Early Childhood Ministry meetings.
3 Teaching Little Ones: Early Childhood is best time to build a God-centered worldview for children. We have provided age appropriate teaching material for all Early Childhood Ministries. This material is easy to prepare and use. Instructions are written in the curriculum. Here are some suggestions. Integrate the biblical truth or theme into the activities the children are doing. Take advantage of every opportunity to make the truths real to the children, repeating them over and over, applying them to anything normal around them. o Example: Do you see the elephant in the puzzle? God made elephants. What else did God make? God made everything! Your role is to teach the children a short Bible lesson each week. It is important to be able to express excitement, energy, and love for God s word when sharing the story and its principle. It is to be taught as truth, not as just a story. The bible lesson will be to you the week before the Sunday you are on. Review the story and listen to the song provided. The song will come with actions which you are required to do as the song is being played for the children. Teach the actions to the children as well.

Everyone needs a background check before volunteering for our children s safety. Being dependable as is also one of your roles as a volunteer. Our main purpose is to help these children grow with Christ through teaching them bible stories, praying with them, connecting, and building friendships with each and every child. Service Expectation: Arrive 15 minutes early (9:45am) to meet with leader and pray. Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray individually for children as they play, as they listen to the story and for the other caregivers as you work together. Read the lesson for small group before coming and collect the materials, which will be provided for you, when you arrive. The lesson and discussion will be ed to you in the previous week. Listen and help with large group story if asked. Lead a small group discussion about the story that was told and do an activity with the children. This will be approximately 30 minutes long. Pray for the children team and the children throughout the week. The small group leaders will have the same group all year in order to be able to form relationships with the children and help them grow in their spiritual formation. Clean up your area after small group is over. Attend Children s meeting when necessary. Support the children s pastor regarding plans and procedures for the children. Have a positive and friendly attitude towards other volunteers, the children, and their parents.
5 Job Description for Door Greeter: Volunteers are assigned to one of the doors in the children s area. This volunteer helps to verify that all individuals are wearing their badge. This volunteer also welcomes and greets individuals as they enter the building. Job Description for Welcome Desk, Kid Registration: Volunteers on this team help at the main welcome desk in the children s building. These volunteers help guests and new members find classrooms for their children. This team is the first point of contact for most guests to the Children s Area. They sign the children in when they come and they make sure the parents sign their children out. They also make sure the children are wearing their name tags and get name tags for new children.
