4 Course Schedule...page 3 CORR OSHA Courses Confined Space Entrant and Attendant This one-day course is for those who must enter and work in confined spaces. This course covers roles of entrants and attendants, regulations, emergency response, personal-protective equipment and lockout. Oct. 18, 2006 LIV Feb. 7, 2007 KAL June 20, 2007 YPS Confined Space Entry Supervisor This course is intended for those who have overall responsibility for confined space operation. It enables them to assess the types and characteristics of confined spaces along with the chemical, mechanical and physical hazards; test instrument and safety equipment; and prepare an entry permit. Oct. 17, 2006 LIV Feb. 6, 2007 KAL June 19, 2007 YPS Confined Space Rescue Team This one-day course is designed for those who are members of a confined space rescue team. It enables them to determine the safest emergency response actions, search procedures and rescue procedures. Oct. 19, 2006 LIV Feb. 8, 2007 KAL June 21, 2007 YPS DOT Compliance 49 CFR $395 This two-day course fulfills the 49 CFR Part 172 training requirements. It is recommended for individuals responsible for plant-level DOT compliance: shipping supervisors, dock foremen, environmental safety staff. Oct , 2006 LIV May 15-16, 2007 YPS Excavation, Trenching and Shoring This one-day course will cover the hazards and safety procedures for excavation and trenching work as required by Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) Part 9 Rules for Excavation, Trenching, and Shoring and United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Excavations Regulations, 29 CFR The course will address the hazards of cave-in, collapse, buried utilities, hazardous atmospheres mobile equipment and confined spaces. Participants will learn how to identify excavation hazards, conduct soil classification and use appropriate protective measures. The differences between the MIOSHA and OSHA regulations will be highlighted. Successful participants will meet the requirements for Qualified Person and Competent Person as required by MIOSHA and OSHA. March 22, 2007 LIV April 30, 2007 BRI June 21, 2007 BRI Fall Protection and Competent Person This one-day course is designed for everyone who works on job sites where fall hazards exist. The objective is to provide workers who climb with continuous and effective protection from falls. Practical methods for using varied safety equipment will prepare the student to also function as a competent person. This program complies with OSHA compliance guidelines and ANSI standards. 5 Course Schedule...page 4 OSHA 10 hour Construction Outreach This two-day course is designed to introduce the participant to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), some selected OSHA standards and construction hazards that are controlled or eliminated through the effective enforcement of OSHA standards. Nov. 7-8, 2006 LIV April 3-4, 2007 LIV OSHA 10 hour General Industry Outreach This two-day course is designed to introduce the participant to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), some selected OSHA standards and common workplace hazards that are controlled or eliminated through the effective enforcement of OSHA standards. March 13-14, 2007 LIV OSHA 2015, Hazardous Materials..... This four-day course covers OSHA General Industry Standards and integrates materials from other consensus and proprietary standards that relate to hazardous materials. Dec , 2006 YPS March 6-9, 2007 BRI Sept , 2007 KAL ONLINE OSHA 2045, Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards This two-day course provides the student with an overview of various types of common machinery and related safety standards. The course also provides guidance in recognizing hazards such as those created by points of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts and flying chips or sparks, and achieving abatement. A field trip is provided to enhance students knowledge of machine guarding standards. Jan , 2007 LIV May 1-4, 2007 KAL OSHA 2225, Respiratory Protection $675 This two-day course covers the requirements for the establishment, maintenance and monitoring of a respirator program. Jan , 2007 KAL May 15-17, 2007 YPS Sept , 2007 BRI OSHA 2250, Principles of Ergonomics Applied to Work-Related Musculoskeletal and Nerve Disorders......$675 This three-day course introduces the student to the application of ergonomic principles to prevent musculoskeletal disorders. Topics include work physiology, anthropometry, musculoskeletal disorders, video display terminals and risk factors such as vibration, temperature, material handling, repetition and lifting and transfers in health care. Course features industrial case studies covering analysis and design of work stations and equipment, laboratory sessions in manual lifting and coverage of current OSHA compliance policies. 6 Course Schedule...page 5 OSHA 2264, Permit-Required Confined Space Entry $675 This three-day course is designed to increase trainees knowledge of hazards associated with confined space entry and their environment. Trainees who successfully complete this course should be able to: define terms specific to permit-required confined space entry; identify current standards governing permit-required confined space entry procedures; demonstrate the proper operation of certain testing instruments and explain their limitations; and describe appropriate ventilation, personal protective equipment and emergency procedures for entry into permit spaces. Oct , 2006 LIV Feb. 6-8, 2007 KAL June 19-21, 2007 YPS ONLINE OSHA 3010, Excavation, Trenching and Soil Mechanics $675 This three-day course focuses on OSHA standards and the safety aspects of excavation and trenching. Trainees are introduced to practical soil mechanics relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations. Various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic) are covered. Testing methods are demonstrated and a half-day field exercise is conducted allowing students to use penetrometers, torvane shears and engineering rods. All participants must have completed OSHA 200, 510 or have equivalent construction training or experience, and wear safety shoes, safety glasses and appropriate clothing for the field exercise. Oct , 2006 LIV March 27-29, 2007 KAL Sept , 2007 BRI OSHA 3095, Electrical Standards This four-day course is designed to provide the trainee with an overview of electrical installations and equipment. Emphasis is placed on controlling electrical hazards by the application of OSHA standards and the National Electrical Code. Topics include grounding requirements and overcurrent protection for both portable and fixed equipment. Dec , 2006 YPS Sept , 2007 LIV OSHA 3110, Fall Arrest Systems $675 This three-day course provides an overview of state-of-the-art technology for fall protection and current OSHA requirements. The course features a one-day field exercise demonstrating fall protection equipment. All participants must have completed OSHA 200 or 510 courses, or have equivalent construction training experience. Safety shoes, safety glasses and appropriate clothing for field exercise must be worn. Jan , 2007 LIV Aug , 2007 BRI OSHA 500, Trainer Course for the Construction Industry Standard This four-day course is designed for students in the private sector who are interested in teaching the 10- and 30- hour construction safety and health outreach program to their employees and other interested groups. Special emphasis is on those topics that are required in the 10- and 30-hour program and the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Course participants learn the effective use of visual aids and handouts. The student can then conduct both 10- and 30-hour construction safety and health courses and issue OSHA student completion cards to participants attesting to course completion. Special emphasis is on those topics that are required in the 10- and 30-hour program and the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Course participants learn the effective use of visual aids and handouts. The student can then conduct both 10- and 30-hour general industry safety and health courses and issue OSHA student completion cards to participants attesting to course completion. All participants must have completed OSHA 511 and have five years of industry experience. Trainees who successfully complete this course should be able to: recommend current OSHA construction requirements and policies; describe new construction standards, identify training materials resources; apply techniques and resources used by other construction outreach trainers; and provide a general overview of construction safety procedures. Nov. 7-9, 2006 FNL Dec , 2006 LIV April 24-26, 2007 FNL May 1-3, 2007 BRI Aug , 2007 KAL OSHA 503, Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers.... $550 This three-day course is designed as a refresher for personnel in the private sector who have completed the OSHA 501 instructor course. Trainees who successfully complete this course should be able to: locate and apply recently adopted or revised OSHA safety and health standards, policies and procedures; use recent changes in OSHA standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program; identify common violations of OSHA standards and propose abatement actions; describe recent developments in abatement procedures for selected safety hazards; and conduct internal training on OSHA regulations. Oct , 2006 KAL May 8-11, 2007 LIV ONLINE OSHA 5600, Disaster Site Worker Program Train the Trainer This four-day course is designed for the trainers who are teaching their workers health and safety which encompasses a wide array of industries and working conditions. This course will greatly contribute to protecting disaster site workers at WMD sites as well as those workers at disasters caused by natural forces such as hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. All participants must have completed OSHA 500 Trainer course and the 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Worker Training course or equivalent construction safety training. Jan. 30-Feb. 2, 2007 LIV April 24-27, 2007 LIV OSHA 6000, Collateral Duty Course for Other Federal Agencies $800 This five-day course introduces federal agency collateral duty (part-time) safety and health personnel to the OSH Act, Executive Order 12196, 29 CFR part 1960, and 29 CFR part It enables them to recognize basic safety and health hazards in their own workplaces, and to effectively assist agency safety and health officers with inspection and abatement efforts. A mock workplace inspection is conducted and student findings are reviewed. Oct , 2006 LIV OSHA 7600, Disaster Site Worker Program Train the Worker $550 This two-day course is designed to protect worker health and safety which encompasses a wide array of industries and working conditions. This course will greatly contribute to protecting disaster site workers at WMD sites as well as those workers at disasters caused by natural forces such as hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. All participants must have completed OSHA 10-hour construction safety training. Jan , 2007 YPS June 12-13, 2007 LIV OSHA 7845, Recording and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illnesses $125 The purpose of this four-hour course is to assist employers in identifying and fulfilling their responsibilities for posting and maintaining records of illnesses and injuries. May 15, 2007 LIV Users of Scaffolds $195 OSHA s scaffold safety standard, which took effect Nov. 29, 1996, requires that employees who perform work while on a scaffold must be trained to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize these hazards. Through the use of CEUs, each of these essential occupational health and safety courses provided by EMU may be used toward college elective credits. CEUs are translated as one awarded per every 10 contact hours of training and are administered as part of course completion certificates. Course Policy Substitutions are welcome at any time; simply call ahead to let us know. Please notify us in written form by mail, fax or of cancellations and transfers five business days prior to the course start date to be eligible for a course refund. Within five business days of the course start date, a processing fee of $150 will apply. Please note that it is the policy of EMU CORR OSHA to hold all courses. However, EMU CORR OSHA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any seminar, if necessary. Courses will be refunded in full, but EMU CORR OSHA cannot be responsible for any airfare penalties or other travel expenses that may be incurred due to these changes.
