The candidate should also learn that there are different literary terms which are important when studying literature. We are also going to look at the different types of sonnets and an introduction to short stories. 1.1 Lesson 1: Genres are unique Poetry as a genre Discuss how poetry differs from other genres Short stories as a genre Discuss how short stories differ from other genres. Allow the Candidate to open The Storyteller: Juta s Grade 12 Short Story Anthology and to compare the text to a poem or even a novel Literary terms Read through the list of the different literary terms with the candidate. Check if the candidate understands what the different terms mean. The importance of the candidate knowing what the different literary terms mean cannot be overemphasised.
