1 HAZMAT PLAN HAZMAT POSITIONS HAZMAT BRANCH The following is the role of the Hazmat Branch Saginaw Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team The Hazmat Branch is composed of the following functional positions IC - Hazmat Branch - Hazmat Safety - Entry Group - Hazmat EMS - Decon Group - Research Group - 1

2 HAZMAT Hazmat Branch Command (designation Hazmat) Provides Command of the entire Hazmat Branch Including: 1. Coordination and Recommendation with the IC after obtaining briefing from the IC 2. Provide strategic and tactical command within the Branch including assessment of first responder actions and zones and recommend appropriate modifications to the IC 3. Provide assistance and coordination with the local authorities 4. Work with hazmat groups to determine and implement appropriate plan of action 5. Insure Completion of Incident Reports, Plan of Action Form, and Notification Form 6. Assures the Site Safety Plan is maintained and documented a. Ensure the Site Safety Plan is completed and implemented b. Ensure pre-entry briefing and safety assessment are performed prior to any entry into the hot zone c. Ensure that appropriate PPE, decontamination and EMS actions are chosen and used. With the assistance of the other involved agencies, assures appropriate recovery and termination activities are completed including; a. Review and oversight of on scene and operational recovery b. Post incident and debriefing c. Hazard communication debriefing d. Critique e. Completion of the after action report and follow up 2
