Key words: physiology of speech acquisition, logopedics care, hearing impaired children

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s SOCIÁLNE PORADENSTVO V DETSKOM CENTRE SILVIA BRONIŠOVÁ SOCIAL COUNSELING IN THE CHILDREN CENTER Abstract: In the Children Center at Research Institute for Child Psychology and Pathopsychology, the most important task of a social worker is to integrate the handicapped child and its family into society. The social worker fulfills this task as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The social worker helps parents to find direction in constantly changing perplexity of laws and other legal regulations. The social worker also helps to find a suitable placement for disabled child into specialized care. Counseling and concrete help in distressful and crisis situations that may occur in family with the disabled child is, too, a part of social worker's fulfillment. Key words: social counseling, social worker, handicapped child, social intervention

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s KOORDINÁCIA PRÁCE DETSKÝ NEUROLÓG - FYZIOTERAPEUT JANA TKÁČOVÁ, KATARÍNA KMEŤOVÁ, VIERA FEDOROVÁ COORDINATION OF WORK BETWEEN THE CHILD NEUROLOGIST AND PHYSIOTHERAPIST Abstract: The child neurologist and physiotherapist are partners that secure an optimal way of how to find and remove a dysfunction in the central or peripheral nerve system. Carrying out the individual plan of rehabilitation exercises improves changed locomotor formulas - thus the pathological stereotype is altered and the child drawn nearer to physiological standards. The goal of team cooperation, in which other professionals of the Children Center and cooperating institutions are involved - but mostly child's parents - is to provide the maximum for child's self-aid and its independent locomotion. Key words: pedoneurologist, physiotherapist, neurological diagnostics, physiotherapy, children with motoric dysfunctions

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s PRÁCA PEDOPSYCHIATRA V DETSKOM CENTRE ĽUDOVÍT POLÁK Výskumný ustav detskej psychológie a patopsychológie, Bratislava THE WORK OF A PSYCHIATRIST IN THE CHILD CENTER Abstract: A pedopsychiatrist has a tight cooperation with other professionals in the Children Center when diagnostic and therapeutic process comes into focal point. In diagnostics, the pedopsychiatrist pays heed to distinct involvement of developmental stages in the global image of the child client. When therapy of severe conditions is required, the pedopsychiatrist recommends medicamentous treatment or placement of a client into a pedopsychiatric facility. The pedopsychiatrist also participates in evaluation of the appropriateness of educational environment of concrete children. Key words: mental disorders, mental development, diagnostics, therapy

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s PRÁCA V INTEGROVANEJ SKUPINE PREDŠKOLSKEJ VÝCHOVY ALŽBETA CHLEBIŠOVÁ, JANA KRUŽLIAKOVÁ WORKING IN THE INTEGRATED GROUP OF PRESCHOOL EDUCATION Abstract: Healthy children at the age of 3-6 years and children with various disabilities at the age of 3-8 years are included in the integrated group of preschool education. The work follows the Program of Education of Children in Kindergartens, which is adjusted to individual needs of particular children. Every task is dealt with according to what is necessary to develop in each child, especially what the child can cope with. Attention is mostly paid to social development of children. Key words: integration, preschool education, adjustment of the educational program for children's needs

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s DIAGNOSTICKO-TERAPEUTICKÉ SKUPINY DETSKÉHO CENTRA BEÁTA TOMČÁNIOVÁ, MAGDALÉNA ŠPOTÁKOVÁ, MARIANNA HOLÚBKOVÁ DIAGNOSTIC-THERAPEUTIC GROUPS AT THE CHILDREN CENTER Abstract: Diagnostic-therapeutic groups represent the intermediary article in the three-degree model of social development care for disabled children (from individual outpatient care, through diagnostic-therapeutic groups to inclusion into preschool facility). They are mostly intended for disabled children the social development of whom significantly lags behind other developmental areas and whose individual stimulation is not already sufficient, but who would not yet cope with inclusion into kindergarten. The goal of this form of care is to trigger off new social competencies and generalize the ones that child can cope with and apply at home and in individual therapeutic care. Key words: diagnostic-therapeutic group, disabled child, social development

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s VÝSKUMNÉ PROJEKTY DETSKÉHO CENTRA MAGDALÉNA ŠPOTÁKOVÁ, JANA TKÁČOVÁ, VLADIMÍR DOČKAL, BEÁTA TOMČÁNIOVÁ RESEARCH PROJECTS OF THE CHILDREN CENTER Abstract: Currently the following research tasks are solved at the Children Center: Significance of Spontaneous Activity and Social Interaction of Early-Age Children for Developmental Diagnostics; Social Interaction of Healthy and Disabled Children in the Integrated Kindergarten; Social Inclusion of Disabled Children into Integrated Summer Camps; and Theory of Mind in Disabled Children (the last three tasks are part of the grant task Psychological Aspects of Education of Children with Special Educational Needs). The research of spontaneous activity helps to expose information on possibilities to diagnose motoric impairment by analyzing child's spontaneous motoric activity in comparison with traditional neurological examination. The follow-up of social interaction - the manifestation and means of social integration - should reveal possibilities for supporting social interaction. In the first phase of the research, the influence of cooperative tasks on the frequency of social interaction of healthy and disabled children in the integrated kindergarten was not confirmed; in the second phase, teacher's influence is researched. Another research confirmed that programs of integrative summer camps positively influence social inclusion of disabled children at school age. The individual "theory of mind" of every particular individual includes understanding of the fact that mental and real worlds are divided entities and the mental world of other people has different contents than one's own world. A comparison is made with respect to the development of the "theory of mind" in children of various diagnostic groups. Key words: spontaneous activity, social interaction, social integration, theory of mind, disabled children, children of early age

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s NAŠE SKÚSENOSTI S VYUŽITÍM HIPOTERAPIE V RÁMCI STAROSTLIVOSTI O DETI DOROTA KOPASOVÁ OUR EXPERIENCE WITH USE OF HIPPOTHERAPY WITHIN THE SCOPE OF CHILD Abstract; Interdisciplinary care of a psychologist, hippologist (horse therapist), and speech therapist for 23 children at the age of 4-14 years - clients of the Children Center at Research Institute for Child Psychology and Pathopsychology - is aiming toward the relief of negative manifestations and consequences of various types of their handicaps. After a three-month period of practicing hippotherapy, the improved mental condition in the area of intellect, emotionality and personality manifested in 66 % of researched children. Key words: hippotherapy, interdisciplinary approach, child with a handicap, psychologist, hippotherapist, speech therapist

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s ARTETERAPIA A MUZIKOTERAPIA V PRÁCI DETSKÉHO CENTRA ĽUBICA KÖVÉROVÁ ARTETHERAPY AND MUSIC THERAPY AT WORK IN THE CHILDREN CENTER Abstract: The contribution deals in a general and in more detailed way with the characteristic of artetherapy and music therapy. Described are goals, topics and techniques of artetherapy, as well as concrete topics of individual music-therapeutic sessions that are used in work with child clients. Key words: artetherapeutic session, music-therapeutic session, creativity, self-actualization, interaction

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s PRÁCA S DEŤMI S ODKLADOM ŠKOLSKEJ DOCHÁDZKY BEÁTA TOMČÁNIOVÁ, MARIANNA HOLÚBKOVÁ WORK WITH CHILDREN WITH DELAYED SCHOOL ATTENDANCE Abstract: Children who have the beginning of their school attendance delayed from various reasons receive a special care in the Children Center at Research Institute for Child Psychology and Pathopsychology. The problem areas of individual children are stimulated in thematic units. In addition to training of skills and competencies, emphasis is also laid on social development of children. Preferred are joint solutions of the problems to individual work; simultaneously, children are taught to accept the individuality of others. Key words: school maturity, group work

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s KLUB (MATEMATICKÝCH) MORČIAT BEÁTA TOMČÁNIOVÁ, MAGDALÉNA ŠPOTÁKOVÁ, INGRID OBLOŽINSKÁ (MATHEMATICAL) GUINEA PIGS CLUB Abstract: In the Children Center at Research Institute for Child Psychology and Pathopsychology in the Club of mathematical guinea pigs" (children themselves schemed up this name) we meet children who have distinct problems at school. Their problems result from combination of several unfavorable factors. Professionals try to influence these factors at group sessions. Children have here the opportunity to experience success, to work in team, and to accept weaker children. Key words: developmental learning disorders, work in group

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s MODERNÉ TRENDY V STAROSTLIVOSTI O ZAJAKAVÝCH ADOLESCENTOV VIKTOR LECHTA Katedra logopédie PdFUK, Bratislava Subkatedra klinickej logopédie SZV, Bratislava MODERN TRENDS IN CARE OF STUTTERING ADOLESCENTS Abstract: Stuttering should be understood as a complex syndrome that cumulates three groups of symptoms: dysfluency - excessive effort - mental tension. Within the scope of ethiopathogenesis of stuttering, these symptoms regularly manifest, combine and develop themselves in a different measure, degree of relevance, and various mutual concurrence (including feed-back mechanisms). When dealing with adolescent stutterers, which makes many therapists already resign because of the chronicity of stuttering and habitual signs, it is important to try to reverse the adverse development. In the therapeutic plan it is inevitable to put accent on other components than dysfluency of speech alone: the clinical model of stuttering and the model of ethiopathogenesis of stuttering, which are presented in this contribution, offer one of the last possibilities. Unusually important in this respect is extra-linguistic symptomatology. Balbutology as a discipline which represents a point of intersection of knowledge on stuttering of various sciences is a transdisciplinary area par excellence. In the therapy of adolescent balbutics the role of a psychologist is unsubstitutable. Key words: stuttering, communicative disability, therapy of stuttering, stutterer

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s PREKONÁVANIE BARIÉR MEDZI DIEŤAŤOM S POSTIHNUTÍM A JEHO RODINOU MAGDALÉNA SZABOVÁ Katedra liečebnej pedagogiky PdF UK, Bratislava OVERCOMING OF BARRIERS BETWEEN CHILD WITH A DISABILITY AND ITS FAMILY Abstract: The contribution tries to analyze the situation when the disabled child is a barrier that impedes development of a quality relationship between itself and its family. The article compares this obstruction on one's way of life to the lake where a child awaits on the other shore. In this metaphor, various forms of approach to the lake are compared to educational family styles. The therapeutic-educational program of intervention is described - its first part is focused on children with disabilities, its second part is focused on child's parents/family. The second part of the program is more concretely described - it is mainly focused on accompanying and supporting of family in their adaptation to a child's disability and on help in looking for adequate means of education of child/children. Key words: child with disability, family, barrier, educational styles, therapeutic-educational program of intervention

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s DIEŤA SO ZDRAVOTNÝM POSTIHNUTÍM A NOVÁ SOCIÁLNA LEGISLATÍVA - PRVOTNÉ EFEKTY KVETOSLAVA REPKOVÁ Ministerstvo práce, sociálnych vecí a rodiny Slovenskej republiky, Bratislava CHILD WITH HEALTH DISABILITY AND THE NEW SOCIAL LEGISLATION - FIRST EFFECTS Abstract: The contribution informs about some results of the survey focused on impacts on lives of citizens with severe health disability resulting of the application of the new social legislation. Representatives of selected civic associations - individuals with disabilities, or their family members, appreciate mostly the complexity of the new system of social support - that is, both from the aspect of the support delivered and from the aspect of types of health disability. The amount of time in the process of decision-making to provide support and subjectivity of expertjudgement work are perceived negatively. Improvement of educating possibilities and the measure of independence are reflected, but improvement in the area of employment was not noted. Key words: public social services, coordination, social assistance

dieťaťa, 37, 2002, č. 3, s DIEŤA S POSTIHNUTÍM A KOMPETENCIE LIEČEBNÉHO PEDAGÓGA MARTA HORŇÁKOVÁ Katedra liečebnej pedagogiky PdF UK, Bratislava CHILD WITH DISABILITY AND COMPETENCIES OF AN EDUCATIONAL THERAPIST Abstract: Modern care for children with disabilities requires a complex and multidisciplinary approach. For 30 years, this form of care has also included here a participation of an educational therapist (curative pedagogue). His/her competencies, methods and tasks are specific, and only partially substitutable by other professionals. The educational therapist has an extraordinary significance for clients, because he/she utilizes playing, physical coordination, art and employments in order to diagnose and therapeutically intervene for the benefit of supporting clients' development and their competencies to be able to cope with problems and find meaning in their acting and beingness. The educational therapist tries to approach clients in integrity, regards their problems as a system in which particular elements have multiple interconnection. A tight cooperation is needed with other persons that participate in the care, to exchange information with them and look jointly for possible alternatives of supporting the client. The educational therapist also needs the support of cooperating professions in order to be established in the system of care delivery. Key words: therapeutical education (curative pedagogy), integral care, competence and cooperation, tasks of educational therapist
