5 More Grads Earning Operating More Money Grant Total grant available for formula allocation to the 2 universities was unchanged from original U of R grant increased $997,000 through formula allocation. Major factors in this re-allocation: Enrolment growth over past 5 years: $780K Increase in tenured and tenure-track faculty: $64K Increase in graduation of research grad students: $228K Increase in CIHR funding (5-yr average): $165K Decrease in NSERC funding: -$153K Decrease in research expenditures: -$92K 5

6 More Provincial Grads Earning Scholarship More Money Programs U of R allocation for Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarships: $1.246 million SIOS funds available for graduate student scholarships increase by $63K (one-time) in recognition of fund-raising success Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship program unchanged U of R students received $383K more in SAS than our budget estimated $3.0 million for Graduate Retention Program adds First Home Plan Interest-free loan of $10K towards down payment 6

7 More Grads Earning Capital More Funding Money U of R allocation for Preventative Maintenance and Renewal (PMR) unchanged at $5.068 million Allocation of the Ministry s $3.0 million for strategic PMR projects tied to federal Strategic Investment Fund (SIF) outcomes $1.917 million provided for capital debt on past projects (unchanged) No major capital funding Other good news: GST rebate of $1 million (one-time) 7

8 College More Avenue Grads Earning Campus More SIF Funding Money Application Application for $30 million for CAC Renewal was submitted May 9 th Full project scope is between $60 million and $70 million. Project would move JSGS back to College Avenue, result in the creation of the Canadian Institute for Science and Innovation Policy, better connections to the business community and expanded capacity for CCE programs and services. Federal timelines require funding be spent by April Tight timelines require work in advance of funding confirmation, such as looking for swing space and applying for necessary permits, including demolition permits. 8

9 College More Grads Avenue Earning Campus More Conexus Money Proposal Conexus partnership announced June 8 may result in up to $8.25 million for CAC Renewal and millions in cost savings. Potential benefits of the proposal include a new atrium and promenade for Darke Hall as well as better accessibility and integration of state-of-the-art IT Public consultations will be held on the proposal on June 16 and 23 at 7pm in the Education Auditorium.
