1 Why & how do Young Living Essential oils work? Essential oils are essential to the vital processes of living plants, which is why they are called essential. Essential oils regulate plant functions, acting like various types of hormones and do the same in humans because the cell structure in plants and humans are very similar. Homeostasis is a state of wellness, balance, and proper function within an organism. Essential oils always work toward balance or homeostasis, first in the plants that created them, then in the humans who apply them. Essential oils afford various types of protection to plants such as helping them to fight off viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi, and do the same things for people. In fighting off bacteria, essential oils are smarter than antibiotics which are indiscriminate in the bacteria they attack. Essential oils attack only the harmful bacteria in our bodies while they nurture the friendly bacterial flora that assist in our metabolism and provide some of our natural immunities. When plants are injured, essential oils from within the plant flow to the wound, protecting it from infection like an antiseptic and initiating the healing process. They do the same for people when applied to human wounds. Oils perform many of the same functions in plants as they do for us. Thus, they come to us as experienced and trained agents for health and healing. The molecules of the essential oils are very small and have a low molecular weight, which makes it easy for them to absorb into the skin...they are absorbed into the bloodstream within 3 seconds to 20 minutes. Also...if you don t know where to apply an oil, rub it on the bottoms of your feet. The pores are larger than anywhere else on your body and will absorb more quickly. Essential oils work by oxygenating and enlivening the body s cells, including those in the brain. They can help to clear the cell membranes of toxic chemicals that may be interfering with proper neurotransmitter and hormone balance. Also by clearing the cell membrane it allows nutrients to enter the cell. From John Hopkins Hospital - Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells. Your Results May Differ...If one oil doesn't work, try another. Sometimes you may need a week or more of applying an oil to tell if it is helping your body. This is especially true if the symptoms you are trying to affect have been chronic-
2 meaning you've had them for a long time. If they took a long time to develop, they probably won't disappear overnight with any intervention. So, be wary of overly high expectations when dealing with issues of long standing. Also, treat the application and use of the oils as a Dr. prescription...if the Dr prescribes medicine we usually follow the directions on the prescribed medicine bottle...do the same with the oils. If you are suppose to apply the oil 2x a day then do so for the best results. The fact is that there are people who have had remarkable, sudden improvements in their symptoms within a day or an hour. We all have different body chemistry so an oil that worked for one person may not work for another...that s why for each ailment in the reference guide there are several oils listed. How many drops are in a YLEO bottle? 5ml=approx 85 15ml=approx 255 I found all this information either in the Life Science Publishing Desk/Pocket Reference Book, Stacy Kimbrell s book or online at YLEO blog. Allergies -" Lavender-put a drop or two in hand, rub together and cup over eyes " " Fennel, German Chamomile, Ocotea, Eucalyptus Blue, Roman " " Chamomile, Peppermint, Wintergreen, Digize, Harmony, Valor, Juva " " Cleanse, R.C., Raven " " -Diffuse for 1/2 hour every 2 hours as desired " " -2-3 drops in hand, rub together and cup over nose to inhale " " -2-3 drops on cotton ball and put in an air vent of your home, vehicle, hotel " " room.etc. Topical Application - Let the oil fall out of the bottle a drop at a time. Don't touch the edge of the bottle to the skin. Touching the rim can leave tiny deposits of bacteria or skin that can accumulate over time and decrease the quality of your oil. Diffusing - When diffusing essential oils, make sure you are using a cold air diffuser. A diffuser that heats the oil will ruin its therapeutic properties. YL offers several different diffusers. Anxiety - " Peace & Calming, Valor, Lavender, Sandalwood, Roman Chamomile, " " Valerian, Bergamot. Diffuse, Inhale or apply to forehead, temples and back " " of the neck
