2 Captain Nash Commanding Officer Air Station Sacramento Captain Nash will be making a presentation on the Auxiliary Air Program and interaction with our District and Larry Olson- DSO-Aviation will be on hand to provide information on how to be part of the aviation program. Commodore Mark Simoni National Commodore United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Commodore Simoni will be attending our D Train and will be one of our speakers and will meet privately with our Board and Staff members and EXCOM. He will be available at our meet members of excom session, so come and get up close and personal with the commodore.

3 TAMARA McKENNA Associate Director of Admissions Partner Program United States Coast Guard Academy New London, CT. Ms. McKenna will be coming out from the academy to provide presentations on the Academy and the partner program that many Auxiliary members nationally are involved with. She will be providing information about the four year program at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London CT, including: typical profile of incoming cadet; athletics; academics; summer overview; opportunities for preparatory school. Overview of the Admissions Partner program and how Partners assist in recruiting young men and women in their local region to inform them about opportunities at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Ms. McKenna is a 1987 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. She served in the Coast Guard as a Deck Watch Officer aboard USCGC Gallatin, as a nuclear arms Inspector for the Office of Secretary of Defense, and as a Project Manager at CG Headquarters. Upon leaving the service, she worked as a defense contractor, and now works in Admissions at the Coast Guard Academy. While working for the Office of Secretary of Defense, Ms. McKenna spent considerable time in Russia and she herself is bilingual in the Russian language.

4 Jodi Traversaro California Governor s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Coastal Regional Administrator Ms. Traversaro s presentation will be an over-view of OES and the Valley Fire. California experienced it s 4 th worst fire in state history after 4 years of drought in the small rural county of Lake County in September Jodi Traversaro, the Cal OES Coastal Regional Administrator will provide an overview of the incident response and recovery and discuss how the community partnered with the USCG Auxiliary to provide immediate assistance to the community. Jodi oversees California s emergency management response operations for the Cal OES Coastal Region which consists of 16 counties, 151 cities, over 8 million people, and some of California s most diverse population base, critical infrastructure, and sensitive habitats. The region spans from the Oregon border, the Bay Area including Napa and south to Monterey. In her own words Jodi is a huge fan of the USCG (who isn t?). - She was formerly the Director of the Cal OES California Specialized Training Institute, was the Lead PIO for the 2007 So Cal Wildfires, and for a time, was the Cal OES Legislative Branch Chief. Jodi is part of the adjunct faculty workforce at USC s Price School of Public Policy Master s Degree program and has a background in Business Taxes as well as employee and organizational performance.

5 Edwin Lyngar Nevada Department of Wildlife Boating Education / Public Information No stranger to the Auxiliary, Ed Lyngar will be the keynote speaker for the Opening Session at D Train Paul Newman 11th District RBS Specialist Paul Newman has been the Recreational Boating Safety Specialist for the Eleventh Coast Guard District since His responsibilities include federal oversight of recreational boating safety programs in California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. He spent 20 years as a Coast Guard officer. Prior to that, in the late 1970s, he was a Mission Bay Harbor Patrol officer and also has served as a DIRAUX. Mr. Newman will be our featured speaker for the Award Luncheon on Saturday afternoon and will be teaching a class.

6 Commander Curtis Sumrok United States Coast Guard Director of Auxiliary D 11 North Chief Warrant Officer Matt James United States Coast Guard OTO D 11 North For several years, both Commander Sumrok and OTO James have supported our district far beyond many of us know. Commander Sumrok will be retiring from the Coast Guard this year and Mr. James is transferring out to take command of a station in Chicago. This will be their last D Train attendance come and share special times with both these outstanding supporters of the Auxiliary as we honor them at Saturday night banquet.

7 BM1 Richard Thomas Jr. US Coast Guard PSU 312 Port Security Unit San Francisco Potential Coast Guard Auxiliary support for the local Port Security Unit will be the topic of this presentation. Additionally the presentation will explain the unit s duties and responsibilities along with some great video of the PSU in action. (pending unit approval) BM1 Thomas is a master training specialist as well as a qualified tactical pursuit coxswain and high risk training instructor. If the name looks familiar, you are right, he is the son of District Commodore Rich Thomas. US Coast Guard K-9 Team Ok you animal lovers come sit in on the Coast Guard K-9 program. Come listen to this program and visit with this highly trained K-9 and his Coast Guard handler.
