2 Abstract A Data Processor transformation can convert data from any format into any other format. You cannot create a Data Processor transformation directly in Informatica Cloud, but you can create the transformation in the Developer, add it to a mapplet, export the mapplet as a PowerCenter object, and then import the mapplet into Informatica Cloud. This article describes how to create the Data Processor transformation and mapplet, and then import it as a PowerCenter object into Informatica Cloud. Import the Mapplet to Informatica Cloud Overview A Data Processor transformation is a transformation that processes complex files, such as messaging formats, HTML pages and PDF documents. Data Processor transformations also convert formats such as ACORD, HIPAA, HL7, EDI- X12, EDIFACT, AFP, and SWIFT. A Data Processor transformation reads data from input ports, such as Excel input, and converts it into other formats. A transformation can output rows of any type of data, such as hierarchical data, to output ports. You use the Data Processor transformation to automatically convert rows of input data into many other types of formats. You cannot create a Data Processor transformation directly within Informatica Cloud. You can, however, import a mapplet that contains a Data Processor transformation into Informatica Cloud, when the mapplet is formatted as a PowerCenter object. You create the Data Processor transformation in the Informatica Developer. After you configure the Data Processor transformation, you can add it to a mapplet. After you export the mapplet as a PowerCenter object, you can import the mapplet into Informatica Cloud. You can add the mapplet to an existing mapping in Informatica Cloud, or create a new mapping. This process allows you to use the functionality of the Data Processor transformation within an Informatica Cloud mapping. You create the logic of the mapplet in the Developer tool, then import the logic into Informatica Cloud. This procedure describes how to create the Data Processor transformation in PowerCenter Express. You must install the Metadata Convertor for PowerCenter Express to export a mapplet with a Data Processor transformation as a 2

3 PowerCenter object. After you install the Metadata Convertor, it runs in the background of the export function. You do not have to run the Metadata Convertor separately. Scenario The Accounts Payable department of the Exeter Clothiers company processes purchase orders that are in Excel format stored in a Cloud server storage system. To process purchase orders in their billing system, they need the purchase order details in XML format. The Accounts Payable department would like to create a mapping in Informatica Cloud that transforms Excel invoices into XML billing data. The company billing system stores the billing data in XML format. To achieve this, the Accounts Payable department administrator can create a Data Processor transformation that inputs bill details, such as buyer name, buyer address, vendor, items ordered, shipping details, purchase date, payment terms, payment total, and taxes, and converts the details to a usable XML format. After the administrator creates the Data Processor transformation, they add it to a mapplet. The mapplet just contains the Data Processor transformation. The administrator exports the mapplet as a PowerCenter object. The administrator then imports the PowerCenter object into Informatica Cloud. The administrator can create an Informatica Cloud mapping, or use an existing mapping, and include the mapplet to convert the data that the Accounts Payable department needs to transform. After the administrator adds the mapplet with the Data Processor transformation to an Informatica Cloud mapping, the Accounts Payable department can efficiently process their purchase orders from Cloud storage. Creating and Importing a Mapplet with a Data Processor Transformation to Informatica Cloud In the Developer tool, create a Data Processor transformation. Configure the Data Processor transformation, and then add it to a mapplet. Export the mapplet as a PowerCenter object, and then import the mapplet to Informatica Cloud. 1. To ensure that you can use PowerCenter Express to create and export a mapplet with a Data Processor transformation, first install the Metadata Converter. 2. In the Developer tool, create a Data Processor transformation. 3. To transform Excel data to XML, create a Script with a Parser. 4. Configure the Parser to transform Excel data to XML. 5. Add the Data Processor transformation to a mapplet. 6. Export the mapplet as a PowerCenter object to the local machine. 7. Import the mapplet to Informatica Cloud. 8. Add the mapplet to an existing mapping, or create a mapping in Informatica Cloud and add the mapplet. Step 1. Install the Metadata Converter PowerCenter Express can only import a mapplet with a Data Processor transformation as a PowerCenter object after you install the Metadata Converter for PowerCenter Express. The Metadata Convertor runs in the background to enable the PowerCenter Express export functionality. You do not have to call or run the Metadata Convertor again. Download the Metadata Converter from the PowerCenter Express Marketplace. Select the option Download Metadata Converter for PowerCenter Express Client Windows 32-Bit version. The Metadata Converter file that you download is named Metadata_Converter_for_PCExpress_Client_Installer_win32_x86.zip. 3

4 Download the jar.zip file from the following link: Unzip the file to obtain the file named com.informatica.products.b2b_dt.tx.modelconverters-mercurytopc jar. 1. Close PowerCenter Express. 2. Copy the Metadata Converter file that you downloaded to the machine where you have PowerCenter Express installed and unzip the file. 3. To start the installation, double-click the install.bat file in the Metadata_Converter_for_PCExpress_Client_Installer_win32_x86 directory. 4. Click Next. 5. Specify the PowerCenter Express installation directory and click Next. 6. Click Install. The Metadata Converter is installed. 7. Click Done. 8. Back up and remove the.jar file named com.informatica.products.b2b_dt.tx.modelconvertersmercurytopc-<build_number>.<number>.jar, where the build number is less than 1202, from the following path: <PCExpress Installation>\clients\DeveloperClient\infacmd. 9. Add the file named com.informatica.products.b2b_dt.tx.modelconverters-mercurytopc jar to the same path: <PCExpress Installation>\clients\DeveloperClient\infacmd. 10. Open PowerCenter Express. After you create a mapplet with a Data Processor transformation, the Metadata Convertor runs in the background to enable the PowerCenter Express export functionality. You do not have to call or run the Metadata Convertor again. Step 2. Create a Data Processor Transformation Create the Data Processor transformation in the Developer tool. 1. In the Developer tool, click File > New > Transformation. 2. Select the Data Processor transformation and click Next. 3. Enter a name for the transformation and browse for a Model repository location to save the transformation. 4. Select create a blank Data Processor transformation. 5. Click Finish. The Developer tool saves the empty transformation in the repository. The Overview view appears in the Developer tool. Step 3. Create a Script with a Parser in the Data Processor Transformation To convert Excel data to XML, create a Script with a Parser. When you create a Parser, you must add a schema that describes the output XML document. You select the element in the schema that is the root element for the output XML. To convert other types of data to other formats, you can create other Script components. For more information about how to create Scripts and Script components, see the Data Transformation User Guide. 1. In the Objects view, click New. 2. Select Script and click Next. 3. Enter a name for the Script and click Next. 4

5 4. By default Parser is selected. Enter a name for the Parser. 5. The Script component is the first component to process data in the transformation, so enable Set as startup component. Click Next. 6. To add a schema that defines the output, select Add reference to a Schema Object. Click Create a new schema object to import a new Schema object and browse for the schema file. 7. To add a sample Excel file that you can use to test the Parser, browse for and select the Excel file. You can change the sample Excel file. 8. Click Finish. The Developer tool creates a view for each Parser or other Script object that you create. Click the view to configure the Parser. Step 4. Configure the Parser To convert Excel data to XML, configure the Parser in the IntelliScript editor. To create mapping statements, first define marker anchors and content anchors for each data value in the Excel sample file. Then define data holders that identify the XML hierarchy element that is associated with each unstructured data element. 1. To open the IntelliScript editor, click the Script object that you want to edit. When you create a Script with a Parser, the IntelliScript editor displays it automatically. In the following image, the IntelliScript editor displays the parser: 2. To preview the example source, perform the following steps: a. Next to the example_source property, double click the equals sign and select LocalFile. b. Expand the example_source property, then click the double right arrows. c. Next to the pre_processor property, double click the equals sign and select ExcelToDataXml. d. Next to the format property, double click the equals sign and select XMLFormat. 3. To convert an Excel item, add a group to hold a logical set of statements. Perform the following steps: a. In the IntelliScript Editor view, double-click the heavy double-arrows under the contains line and select Group. b. To give the group element a name, double-click the double-arrows to the right of the Group element and locate the Name property. Double click to the right of the Name property and type Buyer Name. c. To define a marker anchor that identifies where to find the first item to parse, in the Data Viewer view, find and select the text that marks the location of the field row to parse. d. Right-click, and then select Insert Marker. 5

6 In the Data Viewer view, the text is highlighted in yellow to identify a marker anchor. In the following image, the Data Viewer view displays a sample highlighted marker element: The IntelliScript editor also adds a Marker element. In the following image, the IntelliScript editor displays a sample Marker element: e. To define a content anchor that shows where the parser reads the buyer name, double-click the doublearrows under the Marker element and select Content. f. Expand the Content element and change the value for opening_marker to TextSearch. g. Expand the TextSearch element and change the value for text to <data>. h. Change the value for closing_marker to TextSearch. Expand the TextSearch element and change the value for text to </data>. i. To assign the quantity value to an element in the XML output, expand the Content anchor and doubleclick the data_holder element. Expand the nodes and select the relevant element in the XML output. j. Collapse the Group element. 4. To transform other items, repeat the previous steps. For each item you want to convert from Excel format to XML format, you can create a group to contain a logical set of elements, create a marker element to indicate the location to look for an item, and then a content element to convert the actual data. 5. To save the transformation, in the Developer tool select the transformation, then click File > Save. Step 5. Add the Transformation to a Mapplet You can add the Data Processor transformation to a mapplet. 1. In the Object Explorer view, create a mapplet. 2. From the Object Explorer view, drag the Data Processor transformation into the editor. 3. To save the mapplet, click the Save icon. 6

7 Step 6. Export the Mapplet as a PowerCenter Object Export a mapplet as a PowerCenter object to the local machine. 1. In the Object Explorer view, select the mapplet to export. Right-click and select Export. The Export dialog box appears. 2. Select Informatica > PowerCenter. 3. Click Next. The Export to PowerCenter dialog box appears. 4. Select the project. 5. Select the PowerCenter release. 6. Choose to export to a PowerCenter import XML file. 7. Specify the export options. 8. Click Next. The Developer tool prompts you to select the objects to export. 9. Select the mapplet to export and click Finish. The Developer tool exports the mapplet to the location you selected. When you export the mapplet, the Developer tool also exports the Data Processor transformation in the mapplet as a service to a folder at the location that you specified. Step 7. Import the Mapplet to Informatica Cloud After you export the mapplet to a PowerCenter object, import the PowerCenter object XML file into Informatica Cloud. Informatica Cloud creates a mapplet based on the mapplet definition in the XML file. 1. In Informatica Cloud, click Configure > Mapplet. 2. To import the XML file into Informatica Cloud, click New. 3. On the New Mapplet page, provide a name and description for the mapplet. 4. In the Mapplet Type field, select Active. 5. To upload the Mapplet XML file, click Upload. 6. In the Upload Mapplet XML File dialog box, click Browse. 7. Browse to the appropriate location and select the XML file. 8. Click OK. The Mapplet XML File Details area shows the connections, input fields, and output fields. 9. Click OK. The mapplet appears in the Informatica Cloud Mapplets page.
