1 CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION: DELHI PRESS NOTE 21 st May, 2010 CBSE RESULTS FOR ALL INDIA / DELHI SENIOR SCHOOL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (CLASS XII), 2010 Duration of Examination : 3 rd March 2010 to 8 th April 2010 Date of result declaration : 19 th May, 2010 (Ajmer, Chennai and Panchkula) RESULT STATISTICS 21 st May, 2010 (Delhi, Guwahati and Allahabad) Total candidates were registered for class XII examination from 6035 schools this year. HIGHLIGHTS Overall pass percentage is Girls do better than boys. Pass percentage of girls is as compared to that of boys which is Pass percentage of regular students is as compared to of private/ patrachar candidates. Over all pass percentage of Chennai Region is which is the highest as compared to other regions. 1

2 HIGHLIGHTS OF 2010 EXAMINATIONS 1. For the first time class XII Students appeared in Graphics Design Course (Code NO 71) and Heritage Crafts (Code no 70). 2. Sample Question Papers Sample Question Papers in all subjects were revised, published and uploaded on the Board s website for March 2010 examination. A special feature was the publication of sample question papers in the subjects of Computer Science, Multi Media and Web Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Home Science, Engineering Graphics, in class XII. 3. CBSE COUNSELLING 2010 CBSE started this pioneering community work 13 years back in 1998 for the first time. The highlights of CBSE Tele-counselling are: (i) (ii) (iii) It is offered by trained counselors and Principals from within CBSE affiliated schools located in and outside India. It is a voluntary, free of cost service provided by the participants. It is offered twice in the year Phase I- Pre Exam, Phase II- Post Result. Centralized and Toll Free Helpline for the First Time during the II nd Phase The second Phase of Helpline will start from 21 st continue till 4 th June May 2010 and will For the First time this year, CBSE introduced a Centralized Access System similar to that of a call centre. For convenience of the students, a toll free number has been installed. Students can call from any part of the country. The operators will answer general queries and also connect them to the counselors for psychological counseling. As many as 40 principals, trained counselors from CBSE affiliated govt. and private schools, psychologists and social scientists will be available to provide help from 8 AM- upto midnight. Out of these 37 participants are located in Delhi, Noida, Chandigarh, Meerut, Jaipur, Faridabad, Bhubaneswar, Vishakhapatnam, Jamnagar, Jabalpur, Coimbatore, Bhopal, Nagpur, Bangalore, Guwahati, Kerala, Ludhiana, Bhilai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Hosur and Pune. Besides, these there are 3 centers overseas in Dubai, Doha- Qatar, Kuwait. 2

3 Counselling for Specially Abled Children The facility to provide counseling to specially abled children was started by the CBSE last year to take care of the needs and anxiety of special children. The facility is available this year also. IVRS First to be introduced by any Board of Education in the country, CBSE has made a unique effort to provide Tele-counseling through Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) mode. The service is available for the sixth consecutive year on BSNL/Airtel/ Reliance Phone. BSNL (landline & Mobile) (Except Karnataka, Kerala & Maharashtra) AIRTEL (landline) Reliance ON-LINE COUNSELING Public can also log on to the CBSE website and Interact with Chairman on exam related issues. CBSE WEBSITE Information related to examinations and techniques to cope with exam. related anxiety is also provided at the CBSE website by accessing icon Helpline. 4. Ensuring Smooth Evaluation (a) Chief Nodal Supervisors: The Board has been appointing school principals as Chief Nodal Supervisors for evaluation purpose in cities where the number of schools is large and three or more Head Examiners are involved in a subject. The Chief Nodal Supervisors is put in charge of the same subject, which he or she has taught or has been teaching as PGT or Principal. This ensures proper manageability, supervision and timely completion of evaluation work. (b) Observation Schedules: To give fair deal to the question papers and redress genuine grievances of the students, observation schedules were sent to all the school principals to record and forward their suggestions within 24 hours of the conduct of examination of concerned subject so that these could be considered by the expert group while preparing the marking schemes. (c) Mandatory evaluation: Teachers selected for evaluation work were instructed to report on the appointed date and time. Non-release of 3

4 teachers by any school could lead to withholding the result of the defaulting institution. The Board could also consider and initiate disaffiliation proceedings. However, those extending willing and effective cooperation will also find a mention in their personal records. 5. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE SCHOOLS The First chance compartmental examination will commence on 17 th July, Candidates will route their requests through the Head of institution. The Heads of Institutions will ensure that the list of compartmental candidates reaches the respective regional office by 23 rd of June, Application forms for private / compartmental candidates for Delhi region will be issued to the candidates along with Mark Statements from their respective Schools/Examination Centres. 6. VERIFICATION OF MARKS The facility of verification of marks is available to all candidates. The candidates can apply for verification of marks to the respective regional offices within 21 days from the date of declaration of result. (A) The application forms can also be down loaded from CBSE website (B) Candidates may apply on the Photostat format of verification form also. (C) Verification fee per subject is Rs.100/-. In Delhi, application forms for verification of marks (rechecking) along with the fee in cash Rs. 100/- (per subject) will be collected by the following institutions during the working hours of the school. 7.
