3 About Verde Environmental, Inc. Verde Environmental, Inc. ( Verde ) began the exploration of treating, destroying, and remediating organic waste material in 1986, due to concerns about the environmental impact that today s industrial society would have on future generations. By 1987, Verde s relentless research and testing led to the beginning of on-site treatment of organic waste material with a product that would later evolve into Verde s top selling product, Micro-Blaze Emergency Liquid Spill Control. For over 25 years, Micro-Blaze Emergency Liquid Spill Control has been the microbial product of choice for clean up and remediation of hydrocarbon and other organic contamination. From the clean-up of everyday oil and refined hydrocarbon products; to the elimination of vapors and LEL s to create a safe non volatile work environment; to major industrial clean-up of vessels and equipment; to cost saving bioremediation and clean-up of soils and waters; and numerous other applications, Micro-Blaze Emergency Liquid Spill Control has proven itself as a vital and cost effective tool for virtually every commercial and industrial application. In the years that followed, through the treatment of AFFF waste components and organic waste from extinguished fires, Verde realized the need for a safe, microbialfirefighting agent that would clean up after itself. This led to the development of our patented U/L-listed firefighting agent, Micro-Blaze Out. In addition to being an excellent firefighting agent, Micro-Blaze Out is also a safe and effective cleaner of the organic wastes that remain after a fire. Shortly after its development, Micro-Blaze Out was successfully used to battle the ecological disaster in Kuwait following the 1991 Gulf War. Verde also began applying its microbial technology to the treatment of fats, oils and grease, for use in the restaurant and wastewater industries. With its specially selected blend of microbes, Verde s Micro-Blaze FOG was created and is now used all over the world. Verde has continued to grow, constantly discovering new uses for its Micro-Blaze Microbial Products, which now consist of over ten different product lines. Today, these products are used around the world by governments, militaries, industrial complexes, and civilians to clean, treat, and bioremediate organic wastes. From hydrocarbon spills/leaks to Class A and B fires, wastewater treatment, golf course turf maintenance, and the aquatic treatment of fish farms, Micro-Blaze Microbial Products successfully handle the job. We look forward to working with you in the use of our Micro-Blaze Microbial Products to solve your organic waste problems, as we partner with nature, for a cleaner tomorrow. 3
4 Emergency Liquid Spill Control Micro-Blaze Emergency Liquid Spill Control is a safe, non-toxic, microbial formulation that comes in an easy-to-use concentrated liquid. Simply dilute with water down to the recommended percentage (typically 3% to 6%) and apply the diluted solution. It breaks down, degrades, and digests organic waste while also controlling vapors and eliminating flammability. Any unused concentrate will maintain its approximate 10-year shelf-life. The residue and run-off after applying the diluted Micro-Blaze Emergency Liquid Spill Control solution can be safely sent to industrial and municipal waste water treatment plants. The numerous strains of microbes in Micro-Blaze Emergency Liquid Spill Control create a synergistic blend for the degradation of hydrocarbons, pollutants, and other organic wastes. All of our microbes are naturally occurring, not genetically engineered, and are found in soils and waters all over the earth. These microbes have been carefully researched, tested, and chosen for their affinity to degrade hydrocarbons and organics and, together with a proprietary blend of wetting agents and nutrients, create an ideal and easy to use formulation for treatment of various organic contamination. 10 What is a microbe? FAQ s A microbe is a microscopic bacteria organism. Micro-Blaze microbes are found naturally in the world s soils and water. We have selected the specific strains of microbes for their affinity for hydrocarbon and other organic contaminants commonly found in the commercial/ industrial workplace. What ingredients are in Micro-Blaze Microbial Products? Micro-Blaze Microbial Products are a unique blend containing a proprietary blend of wetting agents, nutrients, and safe, non-pathogenic, spore-forming bacteria. What are wetting agents? Wetting agents help break down the surface tension of water and other materials. They also break-down hydrocarbon-based compounds into smaller molecular structures that the microbes can digest more efficiently. What are nutrients? Nutrients, sometimes called biocatalyst, are comprised of substances that help support the growth and reproduction of the microbes, much like vitamins. Certain Micro-Blaze Microbial Products contain our own biocatalyst product called Micro-Blaze BudKicker. What kind of microbes are in Micro-Blaze products? A proprietary blend of Bacillus spores - they are natural, non-pathogenic bacteria. Upon application onto a spill or contaminated soil, the microbes germinate, and become active within 15 to 20 minutes. In ideal conditions, the microbes double in population every 20 minutes, and will digest the waste as long as all of the necessary ingrediants (water, oxygen, and a food source, i.e. the organic waste) are present. The harmless byproducts of their degradation process are carbon dioxide, water, and trace amounts of organic salts. What is the ph range of Micro- Blaze Microbial Products? The ph of Micro-Blaze Microbial Products ranges (when diluted to proper application rates) from The microbes work in ph environments ranging from about , with the optimal range being from
11 FAQ s Continued What is the difference between enzyme products and microbial products? Enzymes will only liquefy a waste, thereby changing the form of the waste; they can not digest it, like microbes do. Microbes produce their own enzymes that help to digest waste, changing it into harmless byproducts of carbon dioxide and water. You can have an enzyme product without microbes, but it can not digest and bioremediate the waste. What is the difference between a vegetative microbe and a sporeforming microbe? Some microbial products contain vegetative microbes that do not have the ability to revert to a spore form when conditions are not favorable. Micro-Blaze Microbial Product microbes will revert to a spore form and will germinate when conditions become better; and, upon recognizing that a food source is still present, will again start digesting the organic hydrocarbon waste and contamination. Will these microbes harm wetlands, asphalt, grass, dirt, rubber, plastic, or metals? No. The Bacillus spores, in all likelihood, are already present in the soils and waterways of the earth s wetlands. The spores are very tolerant of brackish and sea water. The microbes do not recognize roadway asphalt as a food source. Micro-Blaze Microbial Products are used by golf courses and farms to improve the health of the grass. These Microbes only digest organic materials and are therefore safe on all rubber, plastic, and metals. Are Micro-Blaze Microbial Products on any approved list(s) with government agencies or testing laboratories? Micro-Blaze Emergency Liquid Spill Control is on the U.S. EPA National Contigency Plan (NCP) as a bioremediation effectiveness agent. Micro-Blaze Microbial Products are also listed with many state and local agencies. Micro-Blaze FOG is tested and certified by NSF International. All of our firefighting foams are U/L listed or classified. 11
