3 SECOND IMPRESSIONS ARE ALSO LASTING IMPRESSIONS Passengers will stare as much as pedestrians; the interior is as awesome as the exterior. Pretty as a picture, useful as an ipad; the Picanto is also highly functional. There s a place for all round air-conditioning and a tiltadjustable steering column. A parcel shelf, luggage floor box and seat back pockets make sure there s a place for everything else too. The 1.0 LX (1.0 litre) and 1.2 EX (1.2 litre) models also feature front electric windows, front fog lamps, and a rear wiper. A standout feature is the automatic light control with escort and welcome home lights. If you test-drive a competitor s car don t bother looking for this feature, they won t have it. Awesome is only in the Picanto. The EX model makes life easy with electric side mirrors and rear windows. It s also easy on the eye with a leather wrapped-steering wheel, gear knob and muscular side sill moulding. The EX model also allows a little more sunshine into your life with an optional sunroof. Awesome performance is that easy to experience, but the essence of this lies in the hours of intense research and innovative technology ensuring the best possible driving experience. The new Picanto is available in two engine derivatives: a zippy 1.0 litre and an even zippier 1.2 litre. The 1.0 litre engine delivers 51 kw of power at rpm and 94 Nm of torque at rpm. The 1.2 litre engine delivers an impressive 65 kw of power at rpm and 120 Nm of torque at rpm. As good as the engine is, there s no reason to hear it when you d rather be listening to your passengers or the radio. Luckily the clever folks at KIA have inserted panel sound absorbers, larger hydraulic mountings and various sealing mechanisms to decrease interior noise. Fully independent front suspension, a torsion beam axle, enlarged caster angle and motor-driven power steering all contribute to an enjoyable ride and superb handling. The new Picanto offers excellent fuel economy and ultra low CO2 emissions. Try these numbers on for size. The 1.0 litre manual engine achieves 117 g/km. All new Picanto s with manual transmissions come standard with a gear shift indicator. It s highly visible on the instrument cluster and encourages economical driving by prompting you to change gears at the optimum point in the rev range. ABS isn t just an abbreviation of Anti-lock Braking System. It s one of the many ways that the EX model keeps you safe when urgent braking is required. In these situations another abbreviation, ESS (Emergency Stop Signal)*, causes the brake lights to flash three times to warn motorists behind you.
