The Multidrive S* transmission offers better fuel efficiency and more responsive gear changes. The MacPherson front suspension and Torsion Beam rear suspension have been refined to achieve a sporty and dynamic drive. High-quality finishes include: a glossy piano-black instrument panel, soft-touch material on the dashboard and along the door trim as well as chrome finishes that frame the speedometer*. The Multi-Information Display allows you to monitor important information like current / average fuel economy and estimated cruise range. Functionality is taken to the next level with the Push Start System*, cruise control*, rain sensing windscreen wipers*, electrochromatic interior rear view mirror* and an automatic light control system*. We reduced the steering column angle by two degrees to optimise and improve the driving position, making the drive more comfortable and responsive. 12 We take safety very seriously. That s why when we designed the body of the Corolla, we considered more than just looks. The impact-absorbing body structure will help protect you and your passengers in the event of a collision. We ve spared nothing when it comes to safety features on the Corolla. Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) minimises stopping distances by shifting more braking pressure to the wheels with the most grip, keeping the Corolla more stable and balanced when braking. The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) monitors the speed of each wheel to detect locking and releases braking pressure and provides optimum braking pressure to each wheel, improving steering control during sudden stops. Brake Assist System (BAS) detects attempted panic stops and supports you by strengthening braking power. This helps you brake in case of emergency, when you need to most. If you ever lose traction Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)* automatically applies braking power to all four individual wheels and reduces engine power to prevent the wheels from slipping sideways when cornering or during sudden steering. Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC)* makes sure you take off smoothly on an incline and is available on the 1.6 Sprinter and all 1.8 Exclusive models. Passive safety features such as airbags for the driver, front passenger and side are standard on all models with additional driver knee and curtain shield airbags on the 1.6 Sprinter and 1.8 Exclusive models. To assist you when reversing, the back monitor* helps by giving you a view of what s behind you. This feature is especially useful when parking in tight spots. To keep your pride and joy safe and secure we ve equipped the Corolla with an immobiliser and alarm on all models, a Smart Entry System*, Follow Me Home lighting control system, child lock on the rear doors, ISO-FIX seatbelt anchor and a wireless door lock.
