2 What is a FLYER S-Pedelec? We are delighted about your interest in a S-Pedelec by FLYER, which will get you even faster from A to B. At first glance, the FLYER S-Pedelec seems just a normal FLYER E-bike. From a legal point of view, though, they are treated in a very different way. In order to pedal securely and legally on the safe side, please observe the following information. S-Pedelecs with pedal assist of 25 km/h and above do not belong to the category of bicycles, but to the category of mopeds. Motor vehicles require an EU type approval to acknowledge the regularity of a vehicle. For this vehicle class, a series of legal particularities do apply that must be observed. Please find out about the following issues in your country: the legal guidelines the required insurance for your FLYER S-Pedelec (liability insurance with the respective license plate) the registration for use the required driving license the road traffic regulations requirement to wear helmets The S-Pedelecs are type-approved as complete vehicles. Thus, modifications are not allowed. S-Pedelec components may only be replaced with identical original spare parts. Child trailers and child's seats are not allowed on a S-Pedelec. Registration A vehicle may be used on public roads only after registration (registration of the vehicle with the authorities) and with the respective insurance indicator (insurance against civil liability in respect of the use of motor vehicles). 7 Glossary Lights The high-quality LED lighting systems by Busch & Müller guide you safely through the traffic at any time of day and night. With the S-Pedelec, the lights are always switched on by default. Brake light The brake light is a huge plus in safety and a groundbreaking result of a combination of the hydraulic disk brake Magura MT4e and the rear light Toplight Line E-Brake by Busch & Müller. The brake light is activated when applying the brake through an integrated mechanical switch in the brake lever. The power is supplied via the battery. Tyres The Schwalbe tyres used with the FLYER S-Pedelecs are especially authorised for the use with E-bikes with pedal assist over 25 km/h. They are characterised by an extraordinary low rolling resistance and good grip, guaranteeing additional safety at high speed and in curves. The used tyres may only be replaced with identical original tyres. COC document The COC document (Certificate of Conformity) confirms that the new vehicle at the time of delivery complies with the EU operating license for this vehicle. The COC document is handed out together with the vehicle. Brakes & levers Magura answers the request of the type approval for brake levers with ball ends with a special Pedelec brake lever in die-cast aluminium that stands out with its extraordinary ergonomics. License plate holder with illumination For the S-Pedelec, a license plate with respective insurance against civil liability in respect of the use of motor vehicles is obligatory. The license plate holder with illumination is included in the scope of delivery of your FLYER S-Pedelec. 7

8 Glossary Reflectors Additional lateral reflectors, serially installed on the S-Pedelec according to type approval, ensure an even better visibility. Rear mirror A rear mirror provides overview and safety on the road. With the S-Pedelec it is mandatory and thus included in the scope of delivery. Auto-folding side stand When moving the E-bike in upright position or as soon as there is no more pressure on the side stand, it folds automatically. This mechanism prevents from departing with unfolded stand. 8
