Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your brand new e-bike. We want to make you happy, and we believe your new e-bike will bring you lots of fun. Please read the manual thoroughly, paying special attention to the safety warnings before you start riding your bicycle. Please observe traffic regulations and don t lend your bicycle to anyone who is unfamiliar with it. The bicycle can only legally be used on the road by a person aged 14 years or older. We strongly advise you to always wear a bicycle helmet when using your bicycle and if you are unfamiliar with cycling to attend a cycle proficiency course prior to using it. Test your brakes prior to using the bike every time you use it and remember the bike will not stop as quickly in wet or icy conditions as it would on a dry road. Frequently check your tire pressures. They should be 60 psi or 4.1 bar. Low tire pressures will result in damage to the tires and will massively reduce your range. Before you ride the bike for the first time, please make absolutely certain that it has been correctly assembled. You can do this by either taking it to your nearest bicycle shop or if you are proficient in bicycle mechanic, you can do the inspection yourself. In particular, you must make sure that the pedals, saddle, handle bars and any self-assembly items have been correctly fitted. NEVER drink alcohol and ride your electric bike. The use of alcohol greatly reduces reflexes and limits your ability to ride safely. Even a very small amount of alcohol will limit your ability to be safe on the road. When you need to replace your battery, please either dispose of it properly or preferably send it back to us or your retailer and we will make sure it is properly recycled. Happy cycling! E-JOE Bike 3

Assembly Check the Package is Complete and Undamaged Your electric bike comes in a carton containing the following: The main body of the electric bike - consisting of the frame, the rear wheel, the gear and chain, the rear brake, the battery, the rear fender. The handle bar subassembly - the handle bar subassembly is still connected to the main body by the brake cables and electrical wires. The handlebar also has the brake levers and gear controls already assembled. Additionally, the right handle also has an integrated control for the throttle mode power-assisted, and the left side has Power Assist Display with a battery charge level indicator. The Seat - the seat is attached to its pedestal stem. The front wheel The front wheel fender with supports Battery charger - in a separate box. Front and rear reflector assembly (lights are optional) Pedals - there are a pair of foot pedals Step 1: Handlebars Stand the main body of the electric bike on the kickstand. Insert the stem of the handle bar subassembly into the steering column that is at the front of the main body frame. Make sure that the fork (that will hold the front wheel) is pointing forward, and orient the handle bar accordingly. Insert the stem all the way and tighten from the top using the big hex wrench. Step 2: Front Wheel Fender Make sure that the fork from the steering column is pointing forward. Place the front fender within the fork: locate the small projection with a screw hole at the top of the fender, fit it to the bolt at the back of the base of the steering column; attach the supports (two on each side) to the base of the fork using four small bolts (supplied). After all five points (the dorsal point and the 4 support points) are properly attached, use the multi-wrench to tighten. 4

Step 3: Attach the Front Wheel Make sure that the fork from the steering column is pointing forward. Place the front wheel within the fork and between the brake pads and the disc rotor (if equipped with disc brake) on either side, seat the axial stem properly within the receptacles at the tips of the fork, and tighten the nuts (quick release if equipped) with the multi-wrench. Make sure that the front wheel moves freely and does not wobble from side to side. Reposition the wheel and re-tighten if necessary. Step 4: Assembling and Adjusting the Front Brake (V-Brake only) You may need another person to help you with this step. The front brake is installed and assembled except that the cable was relaxed to allow the installation of the front wheel. After properly installing the front wheel, the cable can be tightened again. Using the small hex wrench, loosen the screw that tightens the cable so that the cable is completely free to slide back and forth. Arrange the several pieces of metal and rubber along the brake cable in their correct positions by referencing the rear brake. Squeeze the brake arms so that the brake pads are against the wheel, but leave sufficient clearance of 1/8 inch on each side (you might want to insert some scrap material, such as a piece of cardboard, between the wheel and the brake pad to ensure there is sufficient clearance). Pull the cable at the end to take out all the slack, tighten the cable by means of the small hex wrench. 5

Test the brake by lifting the front of the electric bike and setting the wheel in motion (turn it) and apply the brake at the handlebar to stop it. If you could not set the wheel in free motion, or if you could not stop it when apply the brake, you need to re-adjust by increasing or decreasing the clearance. Caution: Do not operate the electric bike until you are satisfied that both the front and rear brakes are operational. Step 5: Installing the Seat and Pedals Insert the pedestal stem of the seat into the seat column of the main body frame; use the built-in lever to tighten. Attach a pedal on each side of the crank, tighten with the multi-wrench. And inflate the tires to proper pressure. At this point, your electric bike is a completely functional bicycle. Check all tightening points to make sure. Take a short ride. Adjust the height of the handlebar, and the height and the tilt of the seat, if necessary for maximum comfort. Step 7: Battery usage and installation First, make sure that the battery is properly seat firmly against its housing connector base. Insert the ignition key into the key slot on the battery and turn the key to the ON position. To test, press the RED button on top of the battery and the LEDs on the battery should light up to indicate that the battery is functional and that there is an appreciable amount of charge in the battery. You should also see the charge level indicator at the handlebar will also light up. To lock the battery so that it cannot be removed from the bicycle, use the same key and insert it into the key slot on the bottom bracket of the battery and turn it clockwise to lock the battery. Remove the charger from the box, attached the power cord and insert that to any wall outlet. Insert the plug at the end of the smaller cable into the charging terminal of the battery and start charging. The charging terminal is on the side of the battery opposite to that of the switch. The LED on the charger glows RED while charging and glows GREEN when charging is complete. The battery should be turned OFF while being charged. When the LED on the charger turns Green, disconnect the charging cord and cover the charging terminal with the metal cap. The battery has a series of LEDs as charge level indicators. There is a similar series of LEDs on the handlebar. If a battery is installed on the electric bike and turned ON, the LED indicators will show the charge level of the battery. You are now ready to start using your electric bike. 6

General Operating Instructions 1. Before you ride for the first time 1.1 Check the handle bar and handle bar stem are properly tightened. 1.2 Check all other nuts and bolts and fixings are properly tightened, pay particular attention to the motor fixings, side kick stand, yoke and steering head bearings. 1.3 Check brakes and brake levers are functioning properly. 1.4 Check tire pressures are 60psi / 4.1bar and tires are not damaged. 1.5 Check reflectors and lights are functioning properly. 1.6 Make sure battery is fully charged. 1.7 Load battery into bicycle and turn on with key. 1.8 Check the LED Electric Assist display whether the lights are illuminated on the left hand side of the handle bars (if APPLICABLE). 1.9 To avoid dangerous unplanned acceleration, always make sure that the electrical throttle system is turned off by NOT pressing IN the red button under the throttle (see picture). For your safety, please turn off the power key on the battery when bike is not operated. 7

2. During the riding After the power is on, if the rider twists the throttle the bike will lurch forward! Do not turn the power on until you are ready to go. The hand brake will automatically cut the power to the motor as also will releasing the throttle. While starting or climbing a hill, pedal as much as possible, so that the electric power will not be drained too much. At the same time, it can lengthen the life of the battery and motor. When riding down hills, do not turn off the power, otherwise the controller and motor will be easily damaged. While running, if the battery power is getting low, the battery meter will lessen. At this time you should pedal your e-bike like a regular bike and charge the battery as soon as you get to an electrical outlet. Turn off the power and remove the key while parking. If you decide to push your bike for any reason, make sure to turn the power off, so you don t accidentally turn the throttle making the electric bicycle start suddenly and cause an accident. To help get the best distance out of your electric bike, refrain from a lot of braking and coast as much as possible. Specific Operating Instructions Your bike has a KEY switch with an ON/OFF position on the battery box, and a battery meter which is fastened to the handlebars. Turn the key to the ON position to turn the power ON for the bike. 8

Battery Meter: FULL Full charge (GREEN or full LED bar) HALF Half charge (YELOW or half LED bar) EMPTY No charge! Operate with pedals and please charge as soon as possible. (RED or one LED bar) Brakes: Your bike is equipped with front and rear disc brakes. This brake system is activated with your handlebar brake levers. The left-hand brake lever activates the rear brake and the right-hand brake lever activates the front brake. Please use your brakes with caution and do not try to stop only with the front or rear brake. Make sure brakes are properly adjusted. Cable adjustment is shown below. 9

Battery Charging and Care It is important that you fully charge your batteries after every use. This will extend the total life of your battery. Once the charger has indicated that your battery is fully charged the green light will come on, unplug the power source from the bicycle and the electrical outlet and store in a cool, dry place. Do not leave the charger plugged into the battery for long periods of time as this can damage the battery. 1. Turn the key to OFF and remove the key. 2. Insert plug of the charger into charging port of the battery box. Charge your battery in the bike or you can take it out of the bike and charge where it is most convenient. 3. Insert the charger into the wall outlet. Do not plug charger into outlet until you first plug the charger into the battery charging port. A red light will come on. It can take up to 8 hours to recharge the battery completely. On most chargers, a green light will appear when it is fully charged. 4. When the light turns from red to green, it indicates that the battery is full. If possible, charge for an additional 2-3 more hours to fully balance the battery. 10

After the green light comes on, the charger is in trickle charge mode. If you will be gone for many hours, you should unplug the charger. This is especially true in hot weather. Avoid overcharging and damaging the battery. The charger will become warm during charging, so keep charger away from any flammable materials. The charger may reach 85ºC during normal charging. You can also charge the battery when it is removed from the bicycle. This is especially convenient during cold nights or when your bike is not parked near an electrical outlet. Because specifications of the charger may change in the process of production, please read the information on the charger itself or the charger manual (if included) in detail before using. Always charge the bike in a dry and clean place. Keep the charger dry and clean. Battery Precautions Do not touch the two poles of the battery with your hands when the battery is removed for charging. Also, the two battery poles should not be touched with any metal or other material that conducts electricity. While charging, put the battery in a secure place where children can't reach. Do not use any charger other than the one that came with your Liberty Electric Bike. If you need another charger, contact your local dealer. Do not attempt to open or repair your charger. The electronics contain high-pressure circuits, so don t dismantle by yourself. Prevent liquids, metal and metal filings from permeating the charger, and be careful to not drop or hit the charger which could cause damage. Do not put anything on top of the charger while charging. It must be well-ventilated to allow all the heat generated to dissipate. When charging, if there is a peculiar smell or the temperature is too high, please stop charging immediately. To prevent premature failure of your battery and for your warranty to remain in effect on your battery, YOU MUST CHARGE AND DISCHARGE THE BATTERY AT LEAST ONCE PER MONTH. Do NOT use in the battery in a very low state. It is normal that the mileage capacity will reduce as a result of low temperatures. While carrying the charger, DO NOT bump, drop, or damage, or it may result in failure. Avoid any contact with water when charging your battery. If a plug or socket gets wet, dry it completely before using. Do not leave the charger connected to the battery and the outlet for more than 10 hours. Always use the charger according to the instructions. 11

Battery Removing Pull up the latch under the seat, and the seat will open. Open up the lock with the key in the cell box, then you can remove the battery. WATER 1. Your electric bicycle is rain and splash proof and can be used in all weathers. 2. The electrical components of the vehicle, such as motor, battery, and controller, MUST NOT be submerged in water. Please use with caution. MAINTENANCE 1. IMPORTANT! Do not attempt to open the casings of the battery, motor or controller it could be dangerous and all warranties will become void. If you experience a problem contact our service department or your retailer. 2. Wheel spokes should be adjusted after 300 miles riding. 3. Handlebar and saddle tubes should never be raised beyond the maximum indicated by a safety line around the tubes. 4. Your bike has a rear derailleur that will automatically tension your chain. However if the chain becomes loose or frequently comes off the front cog, you can easily adjust the chain tension by loosening the rear axle nuts slightly, and adjusting the tension bolts. Make sure that the chain runs freely and re tighten the axle nuts. 5. The brake leavers should lock the wheels when compressed half way between their open 12
