6 Featuring DiabPro Some individuals, especially those with diabetes, require a higher level of skin and pressure protection, but also look for greater support of the foot especially at the heel. Shear Comfort footwear is known for its wide range of adjustability to meet the challenges of variability in foot size caused by oedematous swelling. Our new footwear, the DIABPRO series, for DIABetic PROtection, provides a slimmer look across the foot than the other Shear Comfort ranges, and a posted support at the heel. Fastening is by two hook and loop straps across the top of the arch of the shoe. The narrower sole gives a sleek look, and makes for easier walking. The sole can be built up with a rocker pad if required to assist in adjusting the gait pattern. 6 For sizing, see page 4

18 Overlays BES offers a range of different sized overlays from our small Pressure Care Assistant up to full Bed sized overlays. Shear Comfort overlays can turn a standard mattress into a high-end pressure care mattress. The wool provides the ideal microclimate for a good sleep, looking after temperature and perspiration regulation with its excellent air redistribution. Shear Comfort overlays are a lower cost pressure care option, and remove the discomfort and noise experienced with plastic based solutions. The Pressure Care Assistant can be positioned on the bed where comfort and protection is needed, for instance under the heels, hips, shoulders, or head. There have been a number of studies illustrating the benefits for babies sleeping on and under wool. Our smallest overlay is cot-sized (Neonatal Overlay: 50x30cm) and ideal for babies until they move up to the next size (Paediatric Overlay: 74x45cm). 18
