2 OPTIs Mission & Vision The mission of the PCOMMEDNet is the creation of an educational structure that assures continuity of Osteopathic medical education that is responsive to the health care needs of the communities it serves. OPTI Strategic Objectives Continuity extends from the first day of medical school throughout Internship and Residency training. A partnership between Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Consortium of free standing hospitals, ambulatory clinical training sites, and health care delivery systems will provide an integrated, coordinated curriculum that delivers the highest quality of clinical education to assure this continuity. All AOA guidelines, credentials and requirements will be achieved through this educational structure, while the goal is to have the PCOMMEDNet recognized as a national center of excellence in Osteopathic Medical Education. 3 OPTI Services Faculty and Resident Development Seminars are provided during the year on the Main campus and at the Member institutions and may be recorded on a lecture capture system for later viewing. CME credits are available if a physician attends a live lecture. Research MEDNet sponsors seed money for research projects each academic year. Osteopathic Principles & Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) MEDNet s OMM curriculum includes 10 seminars per year, video conferenced and recorded for those Members that are not able to attend the live sessions, and hands-on workshops are also delivered to the Member Hospitals. New Program Development MEDNet likes to get involved early in the process and supply developmental consulting to programs at the very beginning of their journey. Statement that applies to this OPTI This OPTI prefers to assist new programs EARLY in the formation process Special or Unique Services Provided by this OPTI Greater than 1100 AOA-approved slots in 29 specialty areas, including competitive programs such as Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Neurosurgery, REI, MFM, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, Urology, FM/EM, IM/EM, Cardiac Electrophysiology, etc. They are also provided with the opportunity to not only train in tertiary care centers such as Geisinger Medical Center Lehigh valley Health network but to maintain their Osteopathic distinctiveness/skills by means on monthly Seminars and "hands on" OMM Faculty Development exercised at their own Institutions.
