2 Clear Float Glass Clear float glass is a transparent, colorless glass with uniform thickness and homogeneous mass without any waves or distortions having excellent optical clarity. It is ideal for application that requires perfect visibility. 2

3 Colored Float Glass The colored float glass is a heat absorbing glass. 30 to 40 % of solar radiation is absorbed, which reduced the quantity of heat flowing into the building. A variety of colors are available such as bleu, dark grey, green and bronze. It can be used to save energy, for decorative effect and/or to provide privacy. 3

4 Tempered Glass (Safety Glass) Tempered glass known also as safety glass, used in applications in which standard glass could pose a potential danger. It is ideal for glazed door, curtain walls and low level windows. Tempered glass is four to five times stronger than standard glass due to its manufacturing process of extreme heating and rapid cooling. Once broken, tempered glass shatter into small harmless granules instead of sharp shards, making it less likely to cause severe injury and deep lacerations. 4

5 Laminated Glass Laminated glass is manufactured by bonding two or more layers of glass together with one or several layers of plastic film between sheets of glasses under heat and pressure, to create a single sheet of glass. Special plastic film used for laminated glass production is made from PVB (polyvinyl butyral polymer) which provides safe properties. When broken, the plastic film interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded and prevents it from breaking apart, creating a "spider web" cracking pattern. The interlayer can also give the glass a higher sound isolation rating. There are several types of laminated glasses manufactured using different types of glass and interlayers which produce different results when broken (example: Tempered laminated glass) 5

6 Tempered Laminated Glass Tempered laminated glass is designed to shatter into small pieces, preventing possible injury. When both pieces of glass are broken it produces a "wet blanket" effect and it will fall out of its opening. 6

7 Insulated Glass (Double Glazing) It is the set of two glasses separated by a spacer along the edge and sealed to create a dead air space between the layers, conferring a reduction in the sound propagation, the entrance of heat and endless decorative combinations. When the space is filled with an inert gas it is part of energy conservation. The double glazing can be composed by any type of glass, improving the thermal and acoustic performance. It reduces overall dead weight of building, allows faster construction and requires less maintenance. With the technological advance in the creation of diverse type of micro layers, that offer several differentiated characteristics to the glass, numerous types of glasses have come up such as: solar control, Stapid silence and self cleaning. 7

8 Solar control glass or Low-emissivity (Low-E) Solar control glass or known also as Low-E glass is manufactured by an online coating process. Metallic oxides are applied during the manufacture of the glass on the float line. This glass type is designed to collect or reflect a large part of the sun's heat rays, encouraging radiant heat to remain on the same side of the glass from which it is originated, while letting visible light pass. This results a very good heat insulating performance and meet the requirement of energy saving by preventing overfull solar energy coming into room at daytime and inhibit indoors thermal energy to leak out effectively at night and cloudy days. 8

9 Stadip Silence Stapid silence, is an acoustic laminated safety glass, consisting of two or more sheets of glass bonded together by one or more acoustic Polyvinyl Butyral Interlayers, Known as PVB (A). This type of glass is recommended for its ability to reduce noise from outside and for its mechanical resistance and safety. The Stapid silence glass is used in commercial or residential buildings located in noisy areas, in overhead glazing, and internal partitions (interpreter booths, office partitions, meeting rooms ) 9

10 Self Cleaning Glass (X Glass) X glass has a special microscopic thin photocatalytic coating on one side. This coating uses the ultraviolet rays from the sun to degrade organic soils by using the photocatalytic effect. Self cleaning glass also has hydrophilic properties which means that when rain runs down the pane of glass, it will wash away the dirt previously loosened. Together, the photocatalytic and hydrophilic effects allow the glass to stay clean longer than ordinary glass. But the mineral soil may tend to progressively cover the surface and may after a certain time to "turn off". The solution in this case is to project the water, without detergent, regularly to remove dirt and restore the coating and its effectiveness. 10
