1 I need to complete my teacher effectiveness documentation log, but I don t know what kinds of things make good artifacts. Can you help? STANDARD #1: PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE The teacher demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and diverse needs of students by providing meaningful learning experiences. A statement of your philosophy of education A summary plan for integrating instruction or for the creation of interdisciplinary units A sample of lesson planning or intervention planning A log of your professional development activities for the year, including coursework transcripts, professional development certificates, contributions to personal learning networks (PLNs) A sample of a new and innovative approach that you ve developed and used with your students Journals or notes that you kept during professional reading which represent reflective thinking and professional growth Your annual PDP reflection Evidence of your Common Core knowledge Additional certificates and licenses (such as National Board, for example) A list of instructional strategies that you would use in specific instances Products developed as a result of the HASD district-wide book study topics Copies of behavior plans that you developed for one or more of your students.
2 STANDARD #2: INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING The teacher effectively plans using the approved curriculum, instructional strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students. A document showing differentiation in lesson planning and practice based on data sources An analysis of a classroom assessment An outline of a lesson which shows differentiation for multiple learning styles Evidence of your data-driven curriculum revision work Evidence of technology integration in your classroom Evidence of an enrichment activity you planned for your students Unit overviews that your PLC team has developed Annotated samples of teacher-made instructional materials (PowerPoint lessons, handouts, etc ) Written evidence of integrating content reading and writing into your classroom instruction Copies of lesson plans that represent reflective thinking and professional growth A learning styles inventory that you gave in your classroom A list of your formative and summative assessment tools with an explanation of how you use them A copy of your daily written Learning Targets with explanatory notes Curriculum planning and revisions work that you do based on CCSS Evidence of career readiness correlations in your course curriculum A matrix that shows building of essential skills in your content area (how you scaffold students from one concept to the next)
3 STANDARD #3: INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY The teacher effectively engages students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies in order to meet individual learning needs. A photo journal depicting classroom activities A video sample of instruction An audio file of instruction Samples of student work which illustrate the different delivery methods you used A written description of your instruction Annotated photos of teacher-made displays used in instruction Annotated photos of student-made displays used in instruction A record of student-teacher interaction with analysis Evidence of collaboration with instructional coaches Something with illustrates your use of technology for instructional delivery STANDARD #4: ASSESSMENT FOR AND OF LEARNING The teacher systematically gathers, analyzes, and uses relevant data to measure student progress, guide instruction content and delivery methods, and provides timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders. 1). EVIDENCE OF THE USE OF BASELINE AND PERIODIC ASSESSMENTS For at HASD, the required artifact must be your PLC team's SMART goal along with your individual summary and reflection with regards to that SMART goal. 2). AN ARTIFACT OF Samples of teacher-made formative and summative assessments A brief report describing your record keeping system and how it is used to monitor student progress A scoring rubric with a summary of how you used it in class Copies of assessment feedback you gave to your students Copies of student assessment results (graphs or tables) Annotations on lesson plans showing your informal formative assessments. Evidence of an RtI structure for students Disaggregated analysis of student achievement scores on standardized tests Evidence of students' self-reflection and self-monitoring (journals, etc ) Records within electronic curriculum mapping tool (Alpine) Copies of student work with your written comments Samples of educational reports, progress reports, or letters prepared for parents or students
4 STANDARD #5: LEARNING ENVIRONMENT The teacher uses resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that is conducive to student engagement and learning. 1). AN ARTIFACT OF Your classroom management plan: rules as well as the procedures used to develop and reinforce them Your PBIS Classroom Matrix An explanation of your management philosophy and procedures A schedule of your daily classroom routines Lesson plans and materials that you would leave for a substitute Record of a classroom management situation, along your resolution and follow-up Copies of positive notes you sent to parents about their child Photos of your classroom environment STANDARD #6: PROFESSIONALISM The teacher demonstrates behavior consistent with legal, ethical, and professional standards, contributes to the profession, and engages in professional growth that results in improved student learning. Documentation of professional development, in-service training, or coursework Involvement/Leadership in professional organizations Records of peer coaching or mentoring contributions Record of involvement in and contributions to an online personal learning network (PLN) Record of your presentations to staff or workshop participants Examples of collaborative work with peers -- reflection, description, co-teaching lesson, etc Evidence of communication with students, family, colleagues, and/or community PDP annual reflection Parent perception data Agenda items, minutes of meetings, and/or paperwork from team meetings, PLC group, department meetings, BYOC review meetings, etc...
