2 Congratulations! Welcome to the AAP Community! Below are some interesting statistics on the AAP student community: 58% female The average age: 33 years old The average undergraduate GPA: 3.3 Our students come from all 50 states and 34 countries 76% of our students are currently employed Classes are spread over four campuses: 38% in DC 14% in Baltimore (Homewood campus) 6% in Rockville (Montgomery County Campus) 41% are completely online. 67% of our students are Caucasian, 17% are Asian, 8% are African American and 2% are Hispanic.

4 Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences The Krieger School (KSAS) is split into three divisions: Undergraduate Graduate Full-Time Graduate Part-Time, Advanced Academic Programs

5 Advanced Academic Programs Began in 1992 as the Part-time Graduate Programs (PGP) with two degree programs In 2002, changed to Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) As of 2014, AAP houses 18 degree programs, 12 certificate programs and several dual and combined degrees

6 Academic Calendar AAP is on a three semester schedule: Fall (early September to mid-december) Spring (late January to late April) Summer (various) * A few courses are offered during the January and May interims

7 Important Dates to Remember Refund Schedule Starting 8 days prior to the start of classes, you will not receive a full refund for any dropped classes. See Refund Schedule online for more details. Registration opens ~2 months before the start of a new term. Late Registration begins 8 days before the start of a new term. There is a Late Registration Fee you will be charged during this time. Add/Drop period ends ~1 week after the start of the term

8 Career Services One-on-One Career Counseling can help you: ~ develop a focused job search strategy ~ create a targeted resume ~ develop other self-marketing tools Optimal Resume is a career management tool to which you have access. You can use it to: ~ search for job openings ~ create your own professional website ~ practice your interview skills ~ review examples of cover letters and resumes

10 Student Health Insurance It is recommended that all AAP students maintain adequate health insurance coverage Full-time status students (registered for 3 courses or more) are eligible to purchase University-sponsored health insurance International students on a visa are required to enroll in the University Student Health Insurance plan

11 Counseling Providers Students may face some challenging life issues and we encourage students to work with their individual insurance carriers for counseling services. We provide a list of low cost providers in the area:

22 Johns Hopkins University Office of Student Financial Services Available Aid for Degree Seeking AAP Students Federal Loans Degree Candidates can receive annually $20,500 in Unsubsidized Direct Student Loans Degree Candidates can receive a Grad PLUS loan Provisional students may qualify for less Loan Information available at:

23 Johns Hopkins University Office of Student Financial Services Eligibility for Federal Student Aid Any enrolled or accepted student who is a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident or eligible non-citizen. Student must be enrolled at least half-time in two courses or six credits per semester. Student must not be in default on a Federal Direct or Stafford Loan, Federal Perkins Loan, or owe a refund for a Federal Pell Grant or Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) at any institution. Students whose loans were dismissed because of bankruptcy are considered to be in default and are not eligible for federal aid.
