2 TALON REACH V Who: U.S. military: MAWTS-1, VMX-22, VMFA-121, Infantry Officer Course, MCTOG, MCLOG, HQMC Intel, MCWL, USA, USAF, and DARPA Industry: - Bell-Boeing and L3 (1x leased MV-22, networked with mini-ais, PCAS, and MX-15, armed with 2x Griffin missiles and 2x Switchblades) - Raytheon (both PCAS and Griffin) - Kranze Technology Solutions (airborne networking and gateway in MV-22, CH-53s, and KC-130J) - AeroVironment (Switchblade) - Rockwell Collins (PCAS integration with KILSWITCH) - Vanguard Defense Industries (Shadowhawk Group II VTOL UAS) - Harris (ANW2 extension in Group 1 UAS) What: Distributed CLT-focused exercise, simulating a realistic, long-range, MAGTF and Joint mission against ISIS in a threat environment, including IADS and MANPADS IAW Expeditionary Force 21 vision, current force posture, and CMC CPG guidance on innovation/warfighting. Scenario: Combined USMC and Iraqi Army partnered force (IOC element in 29 Palms at urban range [R220]) on advise and assist-related mission out of Al Asad in contact with ISIS IVO Syrian border. CAS requested. Joint CAS pilot down. Surface-to-air radar detected west of Al Qaim, with SigInt report indicating En desire to target reinforcements in helicopters or V-22s. TRAP force launched from ~170 miles southeast (Yuma): 1x F35B section (EA, SAR, Link-16, CAS), KC-130J with TopLite, JPADs, and high band-width SATCOM antenna, networked and armed V-22, and a networked CH-53 section with assault force. F-35 SAR locates pilot and En IADS, passes message via voice and Link-16 to assault force and AMC. ISIS technical vehicles spotted and moving toward downed pilot. V-22 engages pre-insert, while F-35s focused on IADS threat. TRAP force then inserted. After linking-up with downed pilot, near urban area, assault force in decisive contact. V-22s engage (PCAS through KILSWITCH). Sparrow Hawk called and responds from Yuma: AV-8Bs, with networked targeting pods, escort assault force in networked CH-53s. Situation updates in route, from ground force in 29 Palms, and from UAS. Forces link-up, defeat remaining En threat, to include employing networked ITV and Group II VTOL UAS from the ground. TRAP and Sparrow Hawk extract. Mission complete. When: 26 and 27 Mar 15 Where: Yuma, AZ and 29 Palms, CA (exercise force only in 29 Palms) Why: 1) NSS, JOAC, 36 th CMC CPG, Expeditionary Force 21 and AVPLAN guidance; 2) real-world mission requirements; 3) SecDef s recent innovation memo/guidance; 4) specific to the F35, real-world mission requirements; and 5) specific to USAF & UAS incorporation, Expeditionary Force 21 joint force enabling guidance.

5 Travel Information Yuma International (YUM) supports daily contract connections on US Airways through Phoenix (PHX) only. AVIS, HERTZ, and Enterprise rental car companies operate in terminal at YUM. Hours vary ensure coordination for early/late arrivals. MCAS Yuma is 3 hours drive from Phoenix and San Diego Intl airports. MCAS Yuma entrance gates are on S. Ave 3E exit 3 on Interstate 8.
