2 Requirements of Habitat for Humanity Pasadena homeownership program: Willingness to Partner: The family must be willing to do the required sweat equity, turn in all paperwork and report timely and honestly any changes in the family composition. Ability to Pay: Must meet minimum income guidelines, and make monthly mortgage payments. Show Need for Adequate Shelter: The applicants must be currently living in substandard living conditions as determined by Habitat for Humanity guidelines. PERSONAL INFORMATION All households, including individuals, couples (married or unmarried), and families may apply for a house. Applicants, and all household members, must be American citizens, legal residents or have the right to work in the United States. (INS form I-9 is required) All household members must have valid social security numbers that are submitted as part of the application. INCOME & EMPLOYMENT Applicants must have had a steady income for the last 12 months, without a break in employment. You may have held more than one job, but you need to have been constantly employed for the last year. Applicants must have annual gross income between the minimum and maximum amounts listed in the table to the right. To calculate your annual income: Determine your monthly income before taxes and deductions from all wages earned, including both full-time and part-time jobs, during the last 12 months. Add to that amount any monthly non-working income (e.g., SSI, child support, retirement) that you re currently receiving and that is expected to continue for at least the next 3 years. Take these monthly amounts and multiply by 12 to get an annual amount. Select the row in the table to the right that matches the number of people in your family. Compare your annual income to the minimum and maximum amounts listed in the table your income must fall between the minimum and maximum. Application Process Letter of interest completed and turned in. Incomplete letters may not be considered. Initial application must be completed in full. Incomplete applications may not be considered. Reviewing credit score, background checks, references, verifying income and other information as necessary. A Home interview, which includes coming to your home to meet your family, tour your home and potentially review your budget. Recommendations are made to the Board of Directors for final approval.
