2 The PECAS Committee s Charge As a PECAS committee member, you will play a key role in helping HISD refine the way we support and reward each of our teachers. This includes: Understanding where we are now our teacher evaluation, development, and compensation systems and policies Thinking critically about where we need to go working in small groups to provide thoughtful feedback on evaluation and development.

9 Student Performance Measures Value-Added Measure student growth by: identifying the difference between expected levels of growth of groups of students at beginning of the year, based on past performance, and their actual levels of growth at the end of the year. Comparative Growth Measure student growth by: measuring the progress of a teacher s students on a given assessment compared to only those students in the district who start at the same test-score level and take the test in the same language over two years. Student Progress Measure student growth by: using assessments, performance tasks, or work products to see how much content and skill students learned, based on where they started a subject or course. Education Value-Added Assessment System (EVAAS) is the type of value-added analysis used in HISD. Student Progress includes: District-Wide Assessments, Pre- Approved District Assessments, and 9 Appraiser-Approved Assessments
