2 The Department of Education attracts interest from talented educators from across the country. Nearly 17,000 applicants applied to work in our schools this past year from more than 200 schools of education across the country Over 5,000 new teachers were hired in more than 1,200 different schools. There is high demand to teach here, and applicants come from a wide range of schools all of which vary in quality, mission, and training program.
