White Tspeed is not an antifouling but a sliding paint recommended to be applied over dry sailing boat hulls or for boats staying no more than 15 days in water. This paint is resulting from latest R&D Nautix development and contains a high percentage of sliding agents called T.speed. T.SPEED means a super smooth friction free surface to reduced turbulences and to increase speed (or to save fuel). 2

4 1.4 ANTIFOULINGS FOR ALUMINIUM BOATS A1 Mixed matrix Antifouling for well protected aluminium boats Colours: white / blue France / black NAUTIX A1 contains an optimum level of derivate copper thiocyanate for the best efficiency: low corrosion risk except in case of bad aluminium protection. A1 must be applied over the appropriated aluminium protective primer. Control regularly the protection. Recommended primers : Nautix Acralu (1 coat) + Nautix PA (5 coats) or Nautix Acralu (1 coat) + Nautix epoxy (5 coats). 1.5 ANTIFOULING FOR PROPELLERS A7 T.SPEED Hard matrix Antifouling for propellers and Z-Drives Pack sizes: Spray 500 ml. cans: 0,35 L - 0,75 L - 2,5 L Colours: black / grey NAUTIX A7 T.SPEED Antifouling does can be applied on protected aluminium engine drive legs and propellers. The handy spray allows for easy application (painting areas of the drive leg which are difficult to reach with a brush). You can apply NAUTIX A7 T.SPEED directly on top of the original coating of the engine provided it is degreased and sanded. Pack sizes: 2,5 L - 5 L - 20 L Colours: blue France / navy blue / black / red / grey 1.8 PROFESSIONAL ANTIFOULINGS PERFORMER Mixed matrix Antifouling for yachting, cruising and fishing boats Pack sizes: 5 L - 20 L Colours: blue France / navy blue / black / red / dark green / grey PERFORMER is a mixed matrix antifouling paint specially recommended for yachting, cruising and fishing boats and avoids the build-up of paint coats. This product is not suitable for aluminium hulls and boats with speeds over 20 knots. It can be applied over most other antifouling paints. FISHING Low self polishing for fishing, passenger boats and merchant ships Pack sizes: 5 L - 20 L Colours: black / red brown FISHING is a high strength self-polishing - copper based antifouling specially recommended for professional fishing boats. This product is designed to be applied in one coat by air-less spray gun. Fishing is not suitable for aluminium hull and boats with speed over 30 knots. It can be applied over most other antifouling paints on the market except on tin based antifoulings. When there is a doubt, apply a coat of Nautix P1 as a barrier coat. 4

6 2 PREPARATION & PRIMERS 2.1 EPOXY PRIMERS HPE High built twin pack epoxy primer for protection Colours: grey / White / Ivory(except in 0.75L) Nautix HPE is a high built epoxy primer offering a very good protection. It can be applied up to 200µ in 1 coat and used as a fairing coating. Nautix PE is recommended for smooth substrate preparation as regatta boat. 2.2 UNIVERSAL ADHESION PRIMERS P.1 One-pot adhesion primer, recommended also as a conventional anticorrosion primer or a barrier coat between two paints or to protect and prepare bare wood. Pack sizes: 0,75 L - 2,5 L 5 L - 20 L Colour: Metallic grey 2.3 PROPELLER ADHESION PRIMER P.7 Propeller adhesion primer Pack size: spray 300ml Colour: light grey 2.4 ALUMINIUM AND METAL PRIMER ACRALU Etch primer for aluminium and bare metals Pack sizes: 0,5 L - 2 L Colour: orange ACRALU etch-primer is a two-pack paint made to ensure adhesion on aluminium, galvanised steel, zinc, bronze and lead. Only one coat of ACRALU should be applied before overcoating with PE or PA protection primers, fillers and finishing undercoats. 5

7 3 MASTICS & FILLERS WATERTIGHT FILLER Fast finishing solvent free watertight epoxy filler. Recommended to fill scratches, very easy to mix and to sand, can be used over and under the waterline. Density: 1 Mixing ratio (by volume and weight) 1/1 Pack sizes: 250 ml - 2 L - 5 L 30 L Colour: light pink BLUE LIGHT EPOXY FILLER Light & solvent free finishing epoxy filler. Density : 0.6 Mixing ratio (by volume and weight) 1/1 Pack sizes: 5 L 30 L Colour: light blue About fillers Fillers are products used above and below the waterline to fill scratches, shape and prepare surfaces. They are also used for osmosis treatment. Epoxy fillers are two-pack. They are solvent free and polymerize without shrinking. For all work below the waterline it is absolutely essential to use epoxy fillers, because polyester fillers are not watertight : the water permeates a polyester filler film and causes blistering. On metals and wood NAUTIX epoxy fillers should be applied after protective primers PA, PO, PE or HPE. Once this operation is completed, we recommend another primer paint layer and an undercoat for finishing paints in order to obtain an even colour before starting to apply the finishes. PREPARATION Mixing should be done on a smooth surface and left to rest for 10 to 20 minutes before use: the surface obtained is better than if the filler is used immediately after mixing. Sanding will also be easier. 6

8 4 NON-SKID PAINT NAUTIX GRIP 2 Transparent non-skid paint Pack sizes: 0,5 KG - 3 KG - 23 KG Colour: Once the mix base-hardener done, NAUTIX GRIP may be coloured by incorporation of L3 enamel (30% max). DECK GRIP 3 One pack non-skid paint DECK GRIP is a one-pack non-skid deck paint (colourless, grey, or ivory) providing a good feet adhesion on deck or companion way steps,... DECK GRIP can be applied over polyester (GRP), epoxy (resin or paint), one- or two-pack enamels or varnishes and wood. Pack size: 0.75 L Colour: colourless, light grey and ivory 5 THINNERS SD Solvent degreaser recommended for the preparation of polyester surfaces to be painted and to remove waxes. Pack sizes: 0,75 L - 3 L SD is a very liquid and volatile solvent for cleaning surfaces to be painted, or tools for working with resins. DA Thinner for Antifoulings, effective cleaner for spots of tar. Pack sizes: 0,75 L L DA thinner for antifoulings. Also very efficient for removing tar stains. DP Thinner for primers and 2-pots enamels. Pack sizes: 0,75 L L DP thinner for P1, PE, HPE, IA, PA, PO and ACRALU primers, U2 undercoat, L2 two-pack enamels, VA2 marine varnish, Nautix Grip non-skid paint and White T.Speed. 7

9 6 PAINTING A REGATTA BOAT HULL PREPARATION The surface must be clean with degreaser Nautix SD and dry. It should be tarnished (grade 180). If some filling work has to be done, Nautix Watertight epoxy filler should be used: mixing ratio:1/1 easy to apply and to sand very good finish. PRIMERS Primer Adhesion only Adhesion + protection / hardness reinforcement HPE High built epoxy primer Roller Spray gun Adhesion, protection & osmosis prevention 1 coat 2 coats 3 to 4 coats Technical information: - very hard - must be applied at 10 C minimum by roller or spray gun (thinner Nautix DP) - Wet wet application 3 to 6 h at 20 C - Sanded after 12h with P Drying time 3 days ANTIFOULINGS A4 T.SPEED: copper based hard matrix antifouling for boats which are often hauled out of the water (A4 T.Speed hard matrix resists strap marking) or often cleaned with a soft sponge before regattas. A9 T.SPEED FLUO: hard matrix antifouling for dagger-boards, leading edges of keels and rudders and for painting safety marks. A9T.Speed Fluo must be applied over A4Tspeed white. A3 T.SPEED: self-polishing copper based for boats remaining afloat all year long. A3 T.Speed is easy to wash, prior to repainting. Avoid the build-up of paint and allows to come back to a smooth surface. 6.1 Application by roller - Tarnish epoxy primer (paper grade 180) before antifouling application - choose a good roller tool. - apply the recommended volume in 2 coats. - dilute at 5 to 10 % with Nautix DA, depending on the air temperature for the paint film lay perfectly - At 15 C, wait 2 hours between 2 coats. 6.2 Application with air mix spray gun - nozzle: 1,8 to 2 mm - air pressure: 2 bars. - Calculate the appropriated quantity of antifouling (6 to 7 m² / litre) - dilute up to 15 to 25% with Nautix DA, depending on the air temperature - apply in several thin coats. FINISHING This optional step gives the hull the best glide properties and to make the last small defects disappear. When antifouling is completely dry (after 3 to 4 hours), sand the surface with wet sand paper 800 to For leading edges of keels and rudders: apply A9 T.SPEED fluorescent over A4Tspeed white (3 coats). Wet sand (800 to 1000) after 3 to 4 hours. If the boat remains out of water for several weeks, reactivate the fluo colour by sanding lightly with wet sand paper (800 to 1000). Example for a Figaro 2 (10.10meters): - Primer PE epoxy 5 litres thinner DP (depending of the application) - Antifouling A4Tspeed: 2x2.5l A9Tspeed 1x0.75litres thinner Nautix DA: 0.75l. 8
