1 COURSE OUTLINE 1 COMP1215 Total Hours 100 Credits 7 Prerequisite(s) Corequisite(s) Course Description This course teaches students how to create and design, fully functional relational databases using Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and MySQL database. Hands-on training includes creating tables, normalizing databases, building queries, writing functions and writing stored procedures. Advances concepts include writing SQL statements, triggers and T-SQL. Course Outcomes Successful completion of this course will enable the student to: 1. Design and create relational databases using MS Access, SQL Server 2008, and MySQL. 2. Understand normalization rules, and how to normalize a database. 3. Understand and write SQL (queries). 4. Create Entities with various constraints. 5. Create and write stored procedures. 6. Create and use clustered and unclustered Indexes. 7. Create and use Views 8.
