Updated: December 22, 2010 Extron Products Affected: Device Minimum Firmware Version Required Firmware Version Recommended TLP 700MV TLP 700TV TLP 350CV TLP 350MV Current Engineering Rev: E23293 TECH NOTES Minimum System Requirements: Intel Pentium III 1 GHz processor Microsoft Windows XP SP2, Vista, or Windows 7 Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 or greater 1 GB of RAM 100 MB of available hard disk space A network connection with a data transfer rate of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps recommended 1024 x 768 screen resolution Extron Global Configurator or higher is required in addition to GUI Configurator to configure a TouchLink Panel with an Extron IP Link controller. For users that are upgrading from GUI Configurator version and prior, older TouchLink Templates and Style Kits are now called Sample Projects and have been preserved GUI Configurator 1.1 uses a new TouchLink Template format. See below to find the location for the older TouchLink Templates and TouchLink Style Kit Resources for your version of Microsoft Windows: For Windows 7 and Windows Vista Now located at C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Extron\GUI Configurator Templates\Sample Projects. For Windows XP Now located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Extron\GUI Configurator Templates\Sample Projects. Page 1

2 KNOWN ISSUES The following is a list of known software issues found in GUI Configurator Version Issue (originated in v1.1.1) Build Error when side buttons share the same button ID on export file to GC3 A build error will occur when side buttons share the same ID after exporting the file to GC3. The workaround is to set the side buttons with their own unique button IDs. Issue (originated in v1.1.1) Build Error when multiple projects using templates are open simultaneously A build error will occur when many projects using Extron templates are open simultaneously and a project is then uploaded to a panel. The workaround is to close some projects before a panel upload when those projects are not needed. Page 2

3 Released Version: Engineering Revision: E22922 Software Revision: Date: September 23, 2010 Fixed Issue (originated in v1.1.0) Undo/Redo does not work with the Project Conversion feature When Undo or Redo is used after completing a Project Conversion, such as when a TLP 350CV project is converted to a TLP 350MV project, GUIC Configurator may have difficulty with successfully undoing the Project Conversion. Undo for Project Conversion is now no longer supported to undo the Project Conversion, simply reverse the project conversion. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.1.0) Resetting All Panels when there are 2 or more panels with duplicate IPs in Panel Manager When using Panel Manager to reset all panels, GUI Configurator will produce an error and will need to be restarted. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.1.0) Double-clicking TLTA from Software DVD or on storage disk when in read-only mode, GUIC gives import failed When opening a TLTA file from the Extron Software DVD, or when a the TLTA is in read-only mode, GUIC will return an error with import failed. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.1.0) Unable to Load Layout Preset Unhandled Exception when a Layout Preset is called with a docked Resource Library window from a current layout that has a free floating Resource Library window. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.1.0) Button resize properties do not update or save in foreign language version of Windows Changes to button properties do not update and cannot be saved on certain foreign language version of Windows. This issue has been resolved. Page 3

4 Released Version: Engineering Revision: E21707 Software Revision: Date: Dec 16, 2009 Added Support for TLP 350MV GUI Configurator now supports the TLP 350MV. Global Configurator version 3.0.4, or higher, is required for TLP 350MV support. Added Feature Project Conversion GUI Configurator TLP 350CV projects can be converted for use with a TLP 350MV in the project properties dialog. TLP 350CV layouts are not compatible with TLP 350MV layouts in Global Configurator. Added Feature New Project Wizard When creating a new project, user is now led through the process given the options of starting a blank project, using a recently used template, or using an installed template (templates will be installed separately and accessed automatically by GUI Configurator). Added Feature Template Manager GUI Configurator now handles the importing and removing of all templates. The Template Manager displays the imported templates along with their versions to the users, and enables them to import additional templates or remove installed templates. Added Feature Show/Hide Popup Page References User is able to toggle popup page references on and off allowing the user to access objects layered below the popup page reference for editing. Added Feature Importing folders into the Resource Library User is able to import entire folders and subfolders into the Resource Library with the option to cancel at any point during the import process. Added Feature Show Me feature for Build Errors and Warnings If project verification gives you build errors or warnings, the Show Me button shows you where in the project the error or warning occurs. Added Feature GC Configuration Prompt When uploading to a TouchLink Panel, there is now an option to keep or delete a Global Configurator configuration, if desired. Page 4

5 Added Feature Zoom User can now zoom in or out in the layout design area. Additionally, this feature provides the ability to continue editing the layout when Show Side Buttons is enabled. Added Feature Modal Popup Page A special type of popup page that can be shown/hidden on any page and forces the user to make a decision before continuing with the normal GUI operation on the previous pages. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.1) Buttons with the same ID now have the same button behavior properties This bug was fixed with the new button ID rules, which establish that buttons with the same ID may differ in appearance but not in behavior. Also, newly created objects are automatically assigned a First Available ID. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.1) Replace resources with same name when importing Importing resources with the same name did not always prompt for replacement. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.1) No duplicate page/popup page names Previous versions of GUI Configurator allowed the user to give multiple pages/popup pages the same name, which caused problems when they were referenced by name in Global Configurator. Unique page and popup page names are now required. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.1) Unhandled Exception for comments on button Clicking on the down arrow of the scroll bar for a button s comments would cause an Unhandled Exception/Application Quit. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.1) Broken objects on pages with Use Master Page set to True When copying and pasting objects to the master page, or when performing undo actions to changes made on a master page, GUI Configurator would sometimes produce broken objects on the pages using the master page. This issue has been resolved. Page 5

Added Feature 64 bit Operating Systems support GUI Configurator now supports 64 bit environments such as Windows XP 64 bit, Vista x64, and Windows 7 x64. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.0) Errors while saving a project When GUI Configurator attempted to save a project file, it would generate an error if the save destination was located on a FAT32 file system. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.0) Errors while building a project In some projects, GUI Configurator would crash with an unhandled exception error, or an event creation error. This issue has been resolved. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.0) - Two or more references to the same popup use same location When placing the same popup in multiple references, the touchpanel will use the last location. The solution is to create duplicate popups with different names. This issue has been resolved, but it requires TouchLink firmware 1.01, or greater. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.0) - Two or more Levels with the same IDs will not always track If two are more levels are setup to use the same ID and to indicate a value, they may not always be in sync. The solution is to use separate IDs for each Level control. This issue has been resolved, but it requires TouchLink firmware 1.01, or greater. Fixed Issue (originated in v1.0.0) Read-Only projects cannot always be edited after a Save As. Occasionally, a Save As of a read-only project will continue to have certain controls and properties locked. To solve this, close and reopen the project. This issue has been resolved. Page 6
