FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN PLACEMENT IN REGULAR 7 TH ENGLISH. BE PREPARED FOR A TEST OVER THIS NOVEL WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF SCHOOL. *** The Golden Goblet Pre-reading: 1. Locate Thebes on a map of Egypt 2. Look up and record information about the following Egyptian gods mentioned in the book: Osiris, Ptah, Ra, Amon, Thoth, Set, and Horus. Christians believe in one God who has many names that display his attributes: El Shaddai-Lord God Almighty; Elohim-God, Judge, Creator; Jehovah-Rapha-the Lord that heals. Memorize Proverbs 18:10 and thank God for being holy and sufficient for all our needs. 3. As you read, jot down notes about what Ranofer believes and how it affects his behavior. What do you believe? How does it affect your behavior? After reading The Golden Goblet, write two summary paragraphs: Compose one about what you discovered about Ranofer, and one about your beliefs/behavior. Chapters Draw a line down the middle of a piece of paper. Label one column Old Life and the other column New Life. As you read the chapters, jot down words and phrase that show the differences between life before Ranofer s father died with his current life. 5. Using context clues, write down the definition of kheft, ka, ba. 6. What complications could result if Ranofer informed on Ibni? (Why did Ranofer decide not to tell Rekh about his suspicions?) 7. Heqet stated It is an evil thing that you cannot go on learning. Do you feel the learning is a wonderful opportunity? If your answer is no, try to imagine what life would be like if you had to work and could not go to school. Ask God to help you appreciate the educational opportunities available to you. After you have finished reading the Chapter, re-read your prediction. Did you predict correctly? What gave you a hint (or hints) that he was doing this?
