4 Validity HSP MP 377 Performance 1 Readme for Validity The HSP MP 377 Performance is effective for WinCC flexible 2007 Standard and Advanced editions. WinCC flexible 2007 Standard and Advanced WinCC flexible 2007 ASIA Standard and Advanced WinCC flexible 2007 CHINA This document includes a description of the enhancements made possible with HSP MP 377 Performance. Install the full HSP MP 377 Performance to implement the modified functionality. This step is prerequisite for reliable use of this functionality. This installation integrates a new image for all MP 377 HMI devices. Installation Please follow the instructions in "Installation" to install HSP MP 377 Performance. Readme, 11/2007 4

5 Functions of HSP MP 377 Performance 2 The includes the following functions: Optimized firmware image for MP 377. Installation if an optimized firmware image for MP 377 in WinCC flexible 2007 and ProSave. Performance enhancement of the MP 377. Screen add-on times and update times are approximately 1.5 to 2 times faster. The following functions are not released with this HSP: The option "Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) with USB Support" (USB USV) has not been released for the MP 377 with the HSP MP 377 Performance. 6 Installation 3 Requirements The HSP MP 377 Performance requires one of the following installations: WinCC flexible 2007 Standard or Advanced WinCC flexible 2007 ASIA Standard or Advanced WinCC flexible 2007 CHINA Procedure To install the Hotfix, please do the following: 1. Double-click the file "WinCC_flexible_2007_HSP_MP_377_Performance.EXE". 2. Select "Setup" in the "WinZip Self-Extractor" dialog. 3. Select the language for the installation menu. 4. Select "Next" in the "HSP MP 377 Performance Setup" dialog. 5. Confirm the next box with "Install". 6. Confirm the message "HSP MP 377 Performance Setup complete" with "Finish". Note To transfer the improved image to the HMI device, proceed as described in the chapter "Update operating system with ProSave". There you select the updated HMI device image with the file name "MP377_V1_0_1_0.img". Readme, 11/2007 6

7 Updating the operating system using ProSave 4 Requirements Procedure The HMI device is connected to a PC on which ProSave is installed. The transfer at the HMI device is set to the corresponding channel. Proceed as follows: Note Configuration data will be deleted during an update If you update the operating system of an HMI device, the existing configuration data on the HMI device will be deleted. Save all configuration data before you update the operating system or perform an OS update. 1. From the Windows Start menu, start ProSave on the PC. 2. Select the HMI device type in the "General" tab. 3. Select the type of connection between the HMI device and the PC. 4. Set the connection parameters. 5. Select the "OS Update" tab. 6. In "Image path", select the HMI device image file "*.img". The HMI device image files are available in the corresponding WinCC flexible installation folder under "WinCC flexible Images". In the output area, you are provided information on the version of the HMI device image file after it is opened. 7. Switch into "Transfer" mode on the HMI device. If you have activated automatic transfer mode for the HMI device, the device automatically switches to "Transfer" mode when an update is initiated. 8. Select "Update OS" n the PC to run the operating system update. 9. Follow the instructions in ProSave. Result During the operating system update a status view opens to indicate progress. A message is displayed in ProSave when the operating system update is successfully completed. The HMI device now uses the updated operating system. All configuration data on the HMI device has been deleted. Readme, 11/2007 7
