Be Thankful Opening Cubmaster: Be thankful for home Be thankful for food Be thankful for birds that fly. Be thankful for sleep Be thankful for flowers Be thankful for clouds in the sky. Be thankful for friends Be thankful for rain And the rainbows that follow close by. Please join me in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the Cub Scout Promise.
Thankful Sunflower Materials: 9 paper plate Yellow construction paper Sunflower petal template on cardstock (1 petal per Cub Scout) Scissors Brown/black crayons Glue Pencil, pen or marker Directions: 1. Place the paper plate right side up on your work surface. 2. Using your brown or black crayon, color the middle of the paper plate brown or black. 3. Using the sunflower petal template, Cub Scouts can trace around the template onto the yellow construction paper 10 times to make 10 petals. 4. Using the tracings on the yellow construction paper and scissors, Cub Scouts can cut out the petals enough to go around the paper plate. 5. Glue the petals to the paper plate. 6. With family or with friends, Cub Scouts can write on each petal something that they are thankful for.

Materials: None Guess the Animal Divide the Cub Scouts into groups of 6 to 8. Have one Cub Scout in each group choose the name of an animal (and he keeps that name to himself it s a secret). The other Cub Scouts in the group take turns by asking him questions that can only be answered by saying yes or no. The first Cub Scout to guess the animal gets to come up with the next animal to guess. This game can be played until time is up or until everyone in the group has had a turn.
Thankerchief Materials: Handkerchief or other object to pass Have the Cub Scouts sit in a large circle facing each other. (If you have more than 30 Cub Scouts, you may want to divide them into two groups.) The Cub Scouts start passing the handkerchief from player to player. As the handkerchief (now called the Thankerchief) is passed around, all of the Cub Scouts should say: Thankerchief, thankerchief, 'round you go. Where you will stop, nobody knows. Wherever you land someone must say What they are thankful for today." At the end of the rhyme when the handkerchief stops, the Cub Scout where the handkerchief lands will say what he is thankful for. He might be thankful for ice cream or mittens or light bulbs or family and freedom there is no right or wrong answer. This game can be used as an opportunity for Cub Scouts to talk about what they are thankful for and remind them about all that they do have. The game can go on for a set amount of time or until the kids are tired of saying the rhyme.
Do Your Best Closing Cubmaster: Today as we finish our pack/den meeting, let s remember to do our best. Join me by making the Cub Scout sign and saying the Law of the Pack with me. The Cub Scout follows Akela, The Cub Scout helps the pack go. The pack helps Cub Scout grow. The Cub Scout gives goodwill.
