Attention must be paid good cooling. Owing the addition of sulphur, shortbrittle chips are obtained from REMANIT 4305 during metalcutting, meaning that aumatic machines can be used. REMANIT 4305 can be polished a limited extent. The material may be slightly magnetisable in quenched condition. The higher the degree of cold forming, the higher the REMANIT 4305 cannot be welded owing its susceptibility welding cracks caused by the high sulphur content. The cutting properties of REMANIT 4305 are considerably improved by the addition of sulphur; this makes this material particularly suitable for the manufacture of turned parts on aumatic machines. However, the addition of sulphur reduces the corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance can be markedly improved whilst retaining the cutting properties by adding titanium. Cold forming can be carried out at room temperature; heat treatment must also be carried out after cold forming of more than 10%. The tendency of this steel grade wards strain hardening is lower than that of austenitic chromiumnickel steel grades, although it requires greater forming forces. A bright metallic surface, such as can be achieved by pickling, is a prerequisite for good corrosion resistance. Metalcutting machining is possible in the range of parameters used for austenitic steel grades, although REMANIT 4462 displays a lesser tendency wards smearing. REMANIT 4462 can be polished. Good weldability using all processes (except gas welding). Thermanit 22/09 Heat treatment after welding is not necessary. Owing its good mechanical properties and simultaneous high resistance general corrosion, corrosion cracking and vibrational corrosion, REMANIT 4462 is suitable for many applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries, in seawater desalination plants and in offshore engineering, e.g. for acid gas pipelines and supporting s. Material is authorised for pressure vessels in the temperature range between 10 and (VdTÜV Material Data Sheet 418).
