Logical Drive Migration (LDM) is included with ServeRAID controllers. It allows various complex RAID setup and maintenance operations to be administered in a simple straight-forward manner. Netfinity EXP300 Storage Expansion Unit This highly available external storage expansion unit can hold fourteen slim-high or Ultra2 SCSI HDDs, providing a total capacity of 509 GB per unit. This is 40% more storage capacity than the previous product offered. When combined with a Netfinity ServeRAID-4 Controller, the EXP300 Storage Expansion unit supports both and Ultra2 SCSI HDDs in the same enclosure, and they operate at up to their maximum respective speeds. The EXP300 contains two hot-swap, redundant power supply/fan assemblies. Potential failure-causing conditions are reported to the controller using PFA. 3 Tower capability through optional Rack-to-Tower Conversion Kit HDD Options Netfinity 9.1 GB, 18.2 GB, and Netfinity 36.4 GB 10K-4 Hot-Swap SL HDD Options are slim-high 10,000 rpm HDDs that can transfer data to and from supported controllers at up to 160 MB/s. They provide the highest performance of all Netfinity HDD options to meet the most demanding enterprise applications. Netfinity 9.1 GB, 18.2 GB, and Netfinity 36.4 GB Ultra160 SCSI Hot-Swap SL HDD are slim-high 7200 rpm HDDs that transfer data to and from supported controllers at up to 160 MB/s. These HDD options provide solid economical performance to meet most network server applications. The Netfinity hot-swap HDDs use a common hot-swap tray supported in many Netfinity servers and EXP Storage Expansion Units. Refer to the Hardware Requirements section of this announcement for details. These HDD options provide a wide range of capacity choices. These HDDs support PFA. PFA, combined with Netfinity Manager, standard with Netfinity servers, can alert the system administrator of an impending drive failure up to 24 hours before it occurs. If a PFA alert occurs on one of these HDDs it is eligible for replacement under the warranty terms and conditions for this device. Netfinity EXP300 Rack-to-Tower Conversion Kit This kit enables the Netfinity EXP300 rack-drawer to be converted to a tower configuration. This economical conversion kit provides flexibility for customers who prefer tower configurations of the Netfinity EXP300, or who need this configuration at a later date. Product Positioning Netfinity ServeRAID-4H, -4M, -4L Controllers These new controllers are the highest performing SCSI RAID controllers in the Netfinity family. They offer faster processor speeds, faster SCSI data transfer rates, more storage capacity, and more RAID functions than the current ServeRAID-3 offerings while maintaining similar price points. They are scheduled to replace the ServeRAID-3 line in the upcoming months. Netfinity EXP300 The Netfinity EXP300 is positioned above the Netfinity EXP200 due to its significantly higher performance, greater storage capability and flexibility, and expanded reliability features. The Netfinity EXP300 shares the same HDD options as the new Netfinity server platforms. This helps you reduce service and support costs associated with maintaining replacement drive options. The Netfinity EXP300 is scheduled to replace the Netfinity EXP200 in the upcoming months. Netfinity Hot-Swap SL HDDs These HDD options provide the highest level of performance and maximum areal density of the Netfinity SCSI drive offerings. Refer to the Hardware Requirements section for those cables. Configurations: On the rear panel of Netfinity EXP300 are two electronics cards, each with a.8-mm VHDCI connector. These cards are connected to the main system electronics board. The main system electronics board interfaces with the hot-swap backplane. This design enables multiple configurations for various conventional and clustering configurations. Configuration 1 Two Independent SCSI Buses When configuring a Netfinity EXP300 with both buses independent of each other, one external SCSI cable is attached from the SCSI controller to one of the electronics cards on the back of the EXP300 storage unit. From the same or a separate server, a second external SCSI cable is attached from a SCSI controller to the other electronics card on the back of the EXP300. This configuration provides a high-availability solution for duplexing or mirroring up to seven disk drives by using a supported ServeRAID controller. Configuration 2 One Bus The Netfinity EXP300 can be configured as a single 14 drive SCSI channel. One external SCSI cable connects the SCSI controller and one of the electronic cards, located on the back of the EXP300. This configuration is used with a RAID controller to protect stored data in the event of a drive failure. Configuration 3 Twintailing with ServeRAID-4 Controllers A cluster of 13 drives on a single SCSI bus can be configured on a Netfinity EXP300 using a ServeRAID family controller. An external SCSI cable is connected between the SCSI adapter of one server and to an electronics card connector on the back of the EXP300 unit. A second external SCSI cable attaches a second ServeRAID SCSI controller installed in a second server to the other electronic card connector. This configuration shares the data storage of the EXP300 between two clustered servers. It should be used with a SCSI RAID adapter for optimum data protection. In a similar fashion 13 drives on a single SCSI bus can be supported from two ServeRAID controllers installed in the same server. The SCSI bus can be internal or external to the system unit. Netfinity servers using a supported SCSI adapter, or integrated SCSI controller attached to the Netfinity EXP300, are in conformance with this standard by having external ports on both the server and the expansion storage unit

6 The customer is responsible to ensure that the server and Netfinity EXP300 are secure to prevent sensitive data from being removed via the external SCSI ports. Some Netfinity servers can be secured through security cover options, while security of the Netfinity EXP300 must be maintained through the selection of a rack cabinet with appropriate security features. It is a customer s responsibility to ensure that these products are secure to prevent sensitive data from being removed. Security for both the Netfinity EXP300 can be achieved through the selection of a rack cabinet with appropriate security features. If a Netfinity EXP300 is converted to a tower configuration using the Netfinity EXP300 Rack-to-Tower Conversion Kit, it will contain a front locking door. However, the SCSI ports on the back of the chassis are still vulnerable to intrusion by unauthorized personnel unless the unit is maintained in a secure area.
