A: Depending on how you tune the carb, the pipes will perform better all around. Pythons are still the best 2-2. Q: This website is the best btw. Do you think they are better suited for motors with more extensive mods or are they just as beneficial for motors that are close to stock? I'm comparing them to system like the Big Shot Staggereds or SE's 16-Gauge DB's with a built in cross-over for a close to stock, Stage 1 TC88B Softail. Are the Rineharts loud by comparison? I have installed a set of andrews 37b cams and have a mikuni 42mm carb. The harley dyno guy said my long pipes could be causing the drop in horsepower and torque in the upper rpm range. I like the look of the 2 into 2 pipe, what other pipe would you reccommend? I was looking at a hooker header. A: The combo of cam, carb and pipes will always have some flat spot. The pipes are usually the cause. Any 2-1 header will do better. Q: I have a 03 FXSTI and I am looking for exaust while keeping in mind look and performance. I like the look of V &H big shot slash cut but have heard they don't help performance. I also like straight shots, and Phthon slash cuts. Do you recommend any of these or any other pipes?? 4 Q: I have an 01 FLHTCI 95" Stage 3. I now have Thundercone slip-ons for the stock exhaust headers. Had Bartel slash cut slip-ons when I first bought bike new. When in hard acceleration or virtually no acceleration - they perform and sound great. When in between, they have a little bit of popping in the sound. Not a miss but just a little extra pop. Do I need to get fuel injection re-tuned or what? I am thinking about going to true dual crossover, tuned exhaust if that will help. Any other suggestions? A: True duals are better. Thundercones always have a little pop to them. Q: I just purchased a 2003 Screaming Eagle Roadking and don't like the sound. I want to change the pipes or add slip ons. Do I have to change anything else. I asked several dealers and got several different answers. I would like a loud deep sound, what do you recommend? A: Reinhardt sound great and you probably won't need to change anything. Q: I've got a 99 police Road King w/a stage 1 kit. I'm looking for pipes and considering a 2 into 1 Thunder Header or the new 2 into 2 Reinhardt Is the 40-45% horsepower gian that Reinhardt claims true to your knowedge? Is the Reinhardt porformance worth the extra $250 over the Thunder Header? A: 40%-45% is high, but everyone reads sprocket H.P. instead of rear wheel. Expect 15%-20% gains with either pipes. Q: I just got a 2003 FXSTI and am looking at new pipes. Because Thunderheaders blue a lot, I'm leaning towards either the V&H 2-1 Pro-Pipe H/S or Screaming Eagle/Super Trap 2-1. The Screamin' Eagle 16-Gauge? How do they rate on horsepower increase A: Power Shots are better, performance wise. H.P. depends on a lot of things, but exhaust makes the best gains if it's done right. Q: what is the best exaust for the v-rod to get that harley sound A: Sampsons Q: I have an th Anniversary Road King, carburator. Only performance change I did was put Thunder Cones on, has always "popped" a lot down shifting or letting off the gas, & now lately with warmer weather it'll backfire almost every time I let off the gas when changing gears. Dealership has re jetted 6 times now, & replaced the carb. Was just told Thunder Cones are the problem should put Thunder Headers on...any suggestions? A: Even Thunderheaders will pop but not as much. You popping probably comes from an exhaust leak somewhere. Check all connections and seal off any joints. Q: I have a 2000 Road King(carb) and thinking of thunderheader slip-ons, how are they for performance and sound,i would like to keep the dual look, or would you recommend something different without spending alot of $$ A: We love the Thunderheaders, Sampson Slip-ons are really clean also. What do you suggest and which brand will i get the most sound and power from? A: Best power comes from 2-1 systems but the duals work well also. Sound changes from system to system. Personally, I like the sound of the Sampson Slip-ons Q: I like thunderheaders. Would you go with slipons or the 2in1 with falsee setup on a new FLHRI? Why? A: 2-1 always out-performs any 1-1 exhaust.
