2 Summary Statements: The word of God continued to spread; the number of the disciples increased greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith. Acts 6:7 Summary Statements: Meanwhile the church in Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and was built up. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers. Acts 9:31 2

5 Theophilus literally means love of God This is what you have heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spiritnot many days from now. youwill receive power when the Holy Spirithas come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. 5

6 I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Luke 3:16 Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spiritdescended upon him in bodily form like a dove. 7 That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spiritand with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. Acts 10: All of them were filled with the Holy Spiritand began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. Acts 2:4 7

8 Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. Acts 2:18 Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.. 12 Ananiaswent and entered the house. He laid his hands on Saul and said, Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on your way here, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 9:17 When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spiritcame upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied Acts 19:6 12

13 But Saul, also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, Acts 13: And now, as a captive to the Spirit,, I am on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and persecutions are waiting for me. Acts 20:

14 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52 When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spiritand spoke the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31 14

15 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit,, said to them, Rulers of the people and elders Acts 4:8 Therefore, friends, select from among yourselves seven men of good standing, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this task, Acts 6:3 15

16 What they said pleased the whole community, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, Acts 6:5 But filled with the Holy Spirit, Stephen gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God Acts 7:55 16

17 When Barnabas came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast devotion; for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. Acts 11: One of them named Agabusstood stood up and predicted by the Spiritthat that there would be a severe famine over all the world; and this took place during the reign of Claudius. (11:28) He came to us and took Paul s s belt, bound his own feet and hands with it, and said, Thus says the Holy Spirit, This is the way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles. 18 And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as it had upon us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said, John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. If then God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God? Acts 11: Might be more apt to name the book: The Acts of the Holy Spirit 18
