GEnEraL FEaTUrES Cabling structure and components for the home sector Home structured cabling requires a STar type structure: the user socket connection cables meet in a central point called star centre or communication area This is the area where the connections with the access networks for distribution of various services (Telephone system, TV/SaT ), as well as all active information management and distribution devices, are located in general, the communication area is created by grouping together all the devices in an appropriate distribution board to be installed near the general distribution board of the home in new or refurbished homes, where the MY HOME FLaTWaLL solution has been selected as the general electric distribution board (for example, to also centralise the MY HOME devices), the communication area must be created inside the distribution board itself User socket User socket User socket Communication areas inside the MY HOMe FLATWALL distribution board 438 MY HOME Structured cabling system for the home sector

in addition to the distribution board the following items can be identified: Signal handling and distribution devices; Cables for the connection of the devices to the various user sockets; User sockets with connectors split by service type User socket User socket User socket Structured cabling system for the home sector MY HOME 439

GEnEraL FEaTUrES Cabling structure and components for the home sector THE DEVICES FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF SIGNALS The management of the data network To ensure the connection of several computers to the data network and the sharing of the internet connection, the Switch device F55 must be used Switch F55 The internet network connection The connection to the internet network requires an adsl modem, which may also be supplied by the internet Service Provider (isp) WIRING DIAGRAM rj45 socket Patch modules rj45 socket L4665L20/L40 patch cord IP Switch F55 To the ADSL modem 440 MY HOME Structured cabling system for the home sector

XDSL filter F558 The management of telephone signals The telephone signal does not require any special management devices, with the exception of a special filter F558, which separates the telephone signal from the digital signal for the adsl modem The device has 3 filtered outputs for the connection of three telephone jacks For more complex systems, a distribution frame F555 can be used to replicate one telephone line to eight output lines intended for the respective telephone connectors For a detailed description of the listed devices see the corresponding technical sheets. 15 GEnEraL FEaTUrES Cabling structure and components for the home sector Patch module The management of the television signals The distribution of the television signal (both terrestrial and satellite), to several TV jacks, is entrusted to the TV/SaT distribution frame F553, which has one input connector and six output connectors if the aerial system provides mixed analogue and digital signals, only one device will be needed if, on the other hand, the system provides two separate signals, one analogue and one digital, with separate cables, one distribution frame and the corresponding TV connectors shall be used for each signal WIRING DIAGRAM Socket rj45 Patch module Socket rj45 Patch cord L4665L20/L40 Switch F55 Telephone distribution frame F555 Socket rj45 Socket rj MY HOME Structured cabling system for the home sector

Signal patching With this operation it is possible to reconfigure over time the correspondence between the user sockets and the devices in the communication area it is performed using special patch modules, to which the wiring cables are connected The connection with the devices is performed using patch cords L4665L20 and L4665L40 The special geometrical conformation of the device (vertical cable input) means that the wiring and the patch cords can be concealed inside the communication distribution board distribution frame F553 WIRING DIAGRAM socket socket socket distribution frame F553 socket system socket SAT decoder Structured cabling system for the home sector MY HOME 443

GEnEraL FEaTUrES Cabling structure and components for the home sector THE WIRING in home structured cabling systems two types of cables are used: coaxial cables for the distribution of the television signal; 4 pair twisted cable for the transmission of telephone and data signals The CEi (*) guide calls for a so-called basic wiring characterised by cable with 4 symmetrical pairs and Coaxial cable destined to the corresponding rj45 type connectors for data transmission, and to coaxial connectors for the television The same guide recommends a so called advanced wiring, characterised by 2 cables with 4 symmetrical pairs for data/telephone services, and 2 coaxial cables for TV signals COAXIAL CABLE The coaxial cable consists of a central rigid or flexible conductor, insulated, using dielectric material, from an external cylindrical conductor called shield The Coaxial cable for Television applications has a characteristic impedance of 75 Ohms and a diameter between 4 and 7 mm Cavo COAXIAL CABLE WITH 4 SYMMETRIC PAIRS Used for data and telephone transmission, this cable consists of 4 pairs of twisted cables it is available with (STP, S-FTP) or without (UTP) external shield For both, the characteristic impedance is 00 Ohms The performance in terms of maximum frequency of the transmitted signal, is expressed in categories as below: Category 5: data transmission up to 00 Mbit/s Category 5e: data transmission up to 000 Mbit/s (00 MHz) Category 6: data transmission up to 000 Mbit/s (250 MHz) Category 6a: data transmission up to 0 Gbit/s (500 MHz) due to the current transmission requirement, the CEi guide recommends 5e category cables However, in order to prepare the network for future applications, category 6 or 6a cables are recommended The typical use requires capping with rj45 connectors Unshielded cable (UTP) note (*): CeI Guide for telecommunication and multimedia distribution wiring inside residential buildings. 18 THE USER SOCKET in the system configuration described so far, each branch of the Star centre reaches, and ends in, a user socket normally consisting of one or more connectors There are two types of connectors for the home data network: TV signal coaxial connector rj45 standard connector with 8 contacts for telephone system and data signals TV COnneCTOrS L4202D HC4269F HS424D n420d L4269F Shielded TV and SAT COnneCTOrS in die-cast enclosure Data network and telephone system connectors nt4279c6 L4279C6 AM5979C6 n4279c6 rj45 connectors For the connection of telephone devices with rj connectors to rj45 type connectors, the use of the rj45/rj adapter cable, L4664, is recommended Structured cabling system for the home sector MY HOME 445

Main requirements STANDARDS The design and installation of the home data network system must be performed following the indications and requirements contained in the following documents: CEI 306-2: Guide for telecommunication and multimedia distribution wiring inside residential buildings CEI 64-00/: residential building Guide for the presetting of the infrastructures for electric, electronic, and communication systems Part : Building risers CEI 64-00/2: residential building Guide for the presetting of the infrastructures for electric, electronic, and communication systems Page 2: dwellings (apartments) CEI EN 5073-: information technology - Structured cabling systems Part : General requirements CEI EN : information technology - Structured cabling systems Page 4: Homes DESIGN CRITERIA during the design of the home data network system, it is important that the following aspects are defined in orderly sequence: Functions required (data, Telephone system, TV); Selection of the installation solutions based on the features of the building irrespective of the type of system and the required functions, it is necessary that the PLaniMETrY, as well as a GEnEraL FUrniTUrE PLan, are made available to the installer it must also be considered that on a design and installation point of view the creation of a home data network system is not very different from that of a traditional electric power system Selection of the cable by application type DEFINITION OF THE FUNCTIONS REQUIRED The design of the data network system requires a good knowledge of the multimedia functions to be installed around the home as a way of example, attached is the table of CEi guide For each application this table shows the features of the corresponding wiring setup to be implemented for the multimedia network CABLES SERVICE BAND CABLE USED TV (terrestrial + satellite) Mhz COAXIAL Traditional telephone system* Mhz symmetric pair LAN Gb/s 4 symmetric pairs * In order to take advantage of the flexibility of the home wiring system, it is recommended that also for the telephone system service a 4 symmetrical pair cable is used, connected to a RJ45 socket, instead of the traditional twisted pair connected to the RJ/2 socket. In this case, the same rj45 socket used to connect the pc to the local ethernet network can be reused, for example, to connect a standard analogue telephone to the telephone line, without any intervention required on the horizontal wiring. The only action needed will be the patching of the termination of the corresponding cable in the Star centre, moving the connector from the ethernet switch to the telephone distribution frame. To connect a telephone unit with rj socket to the rj45 socket, use the corresponding cable rj/ rj45 L MY HOME Structured cabling system for the home sector

Creation of the communication area On an installation point of view, it is recommended that the communication area is split in two specific zones: zone for the installation of Gateway access devices zone for home wiring devices ZONE FOR GATEWAY ACCESS DEVICES This area is occupied by all active and non active equipment, with corresponding wiring for the connection of the electric services coming from the outside of the home, such as: Telephone line; TV/SaT system from the central unit downstream the aerials an example of active device for this area is the adsl modem with integrated switch, and if applicable the Gateway device for the signals coming from the optic fiber network On the other hand, a non active device can be the filter for the separation of the telephone signal from the adsl data signal For the operation of active devices, it will be necessary to allow for 230 V power supply sockets, with the corresponding disconnection and protection devices in case of indirect contact and overload it must be considered that both devices and wiring of the telephone and data networks must be kept separate from the 230 V electric power supply devices and wiring it will therefore be necessary to also allow for partitions or similar solutions for the separation of the systems if the FLaTWaLL switchboard is used, a specific compartment is available for the installation of multimedia devices ZONE FOR HOME WIRING DEVICES This area is occupied by the patch modules connecting the user sockets to the Star centre, as well as all devices for the appropriate distribution of the various signals to the sockets themselves Zone for home wiring devices Zone for Gateway Access devices Structured cabling system for the home sector MY HOME 447

GEnEraL rules FOr installation Positioning of the user sockets it is recommended that 2 rj45 sockets (data and telephone) and TV jack are installed in each room, every 3 75 m of the perimeter of the room (ref CEi En ) The number of sockets in each room must, in any case, be such that from each zone it will be possible to reach the user point using a PC or telephone connection cord not longer than 5 metres without causing any transit problems inside the room Obviously, this requirement must be assessed also taking into account the current or future position of the furniture, so that DIAGRAM the use of of the user sockets is not prevented by the positioning of the furniture For the power supply of the connected devices, on the side of each user socket one or more 230 V power supply sockets must ROOM TYPE Kitchen Main bedroom Second bedroom Living / sitting room Study Tavern Gym Technical room (laundry room/boiler room, etc.) also be installed, inside dedicated device holding boxes if no precise design is available, the miminum requirements recommended for each standard room of the house could be as follows: DEVICES TO BE USED RJ45 socket (on worktop level) + jack 3 RJ45 sockets (2 of which for the telephone on bedside cabinets) + jack 2 RJ45 sockets (bedside cabinet and desk) + jack 2 RJ45 sockets + jack 2 RJ45 sockets 2 RJ45 sockets + jack RJ45 socket RJ45 socket For the connection of telephone devices with rj connectors to rj45 type sockets, use the rj45/rj adapter cable L4664. 22 User socket wiring in order to ensure access to all types of services (data, telephone system, and TV), the user socket must be fitted with rj45 connectors (female type), and coaxial connectors for aerial systems, with electric features compatible with the ones of the corresponding connection cables service and those for the telephone system will be available on all the pins of the connector, as shown in the following table Cat. 6 UTP Connectors RJ45 CONNECTORS For the connection of modular rj45 connectors to the 4 symmetric pair data cable, two solutions can be implemented, regulated by Tia/Eia 568a or Tia/Eia 568B standards respectively RJ45 APPLICATION Telephone system (analogue digital) ISDN Ethernet 0/00/000 Mps PIN NUMBER From the table it is clear that pins 7 and 8 are not used. However, there are special applications that also require these pins rj45 connector EIA 568 cablato B secondo lo standard TIA/eIA 568B. These two standards are completely similar in terms of performance and supported applications The only difference is that pair 2 and pair 3 are switched The main trend is to install systems using the Tia/Eia 568B standard connection requirements By using this type of wiring, both the signals for the distribution of the data TV coaxial socket TV COAXIAL SOCKET For the distribution of TV services in the residential network wiring system it is necessary to install the Coaxial cable, which must be connected, in the user sockets, to the corresponding F or iec type TV jack (male type) The socket must be compatible with the cable features and must assure the transmission, without relevant attenuation, of the television signal with frequencies up to 2 50 GHz BTicino has a wide range of die-cast aluminium TV jacks for the distribution of TV SaT and FM radio signals Structured cabling system for the home sector MY HOME 449
