2 com Company information Skatoskalo has been established for one hundred and ten years. Its core product range has focused on descaling and cleaning equipment. It's tube descaling division have extended its range to include tube cleaning, tube expansion and tube removal. In 2004 skatoskalo made huge investments in order to extend its knowledge base and manufacturing skills in order to become a rapid prototype design and build company for bespoke and small niche products. This has allowed its original product range to develop into modern systems incorporating energy saving as well as environmentally friendly methods while maintaining reliability. 6 NEW GENERATION CLEANERS Skatoskalo has maintained its supply of mechanical cleaning and descaling equipment for several decades with its engineers constantly aware of alternative cleaning system. As the world changes and factories look to different ways of working mechanical cleaning has continued to be preferred on the basis of simple facts, it does the job properly. Chemical cleaning was tried and in many cases failed as it proved too be costly, difficult to manage and not environmentally friendly, our industry looks to do the job without harming our planet. High Pressure Water often appeared to be a logical solution as it is less labour intensive. Fears of its danger to operators, high water usage and high costs restricted its popularity. It was the inconsistency of cleaning which factory management could not accept. The travel of the water jet needs to be very precise movement to be sure of hitting all of the scale and not leave a spiral of uncleaned surfaces. In all cases Mechanical cleaning systems proved to be reliable and consistent. The factory management knew the job was done after its resilient workforce took to the task of evaporator tube scale removal. This process is quite skilled and labour intensive. This most preferred system is not without its dislikes in today's more demanding factory environment. Skatoskalo management and engineers have spent the last four years developing a system it believes eliminates or reduces the difficulties confronting factory management but maintains the reliability of complete scale removal. In order to achieve the objectives Skatoskalo has compiled data from visits to factories in over seventy countries, looking at methods used, problems encountered and ideas from the people with the most experience. In this short explanation we have focused on mechanical systems to avoid competing against systems already less preferred.
