5 1.1 Presentation The RMAB (Remote Maintenance Access Board) is used to connect the PABX to a local or remote operator for system maintenance purposes. Its main functions are: - connection in local or remote mode to the PABX boards, - access control, - remote reset of the PABX, - remote reset of the RMA board, - reception, recording and action on PABX or external alarms, - transmission of commands. The configuration of RMA board is describe in RMAB - Hardware configuration. The connections of RMA board are describe in RMAB - External connections. 1.2 Environment 1-1

7 - a CPU, - a real time clock module, (RTC), - memories, - a set of commands, alarms and resets, - a external interface, - a power supply Description of the blocks CPU RTC This part is the heart of the board. The CPU comprises two Motorola microcontrollers. The main characteristics of the are: - 16 bit microcontroller, - includes a and a RISC communications processor. It is possible to inhibit the and use the component as a smart peripheral, clock frequency of MHz, 3 UART serial ports. One of the microcontrollers is master, the other slave. The functions of the master are those of a traditional microcontroller with, in addition, the UART controller function for ports SyA, SyB, ExA, RTC controller and component selection. The slave CPU handles the UART controller functions for ports ExB, ExC, ExD and component selection. The frequency of the master CPU clock is supplied to all the board components that use it. The CPU can be reset in 3 ways: - on start-up, - by push-button on the front panel, - by software command. - time, - calendar, Memories - battery backup (about 4 hours). The oscillation frequency is 32,768 KHz. There are three types of memory present on the RMAB: - Flash EPROM (512 kb) comprising two modules, - static RAM (256 kb) comprising two modules, - EPROM (512 kb) used to load the flash. 1-3

8 Chapter Set of alarms, resets and commands Alarms Resets The RMAB can receive 5 alarms: - one from the system CPU, - 4 external ones. Note: The two system CPU alarms are configured in wired OR. The RMA board can send a reset to each of the CPUs (main and standby). Note: One reset per CPU board. These two resets are inhibited during reset of the RMAB Commands Two commands carried out by relay contact are available. The current loop must not exceed 1A/30V or 400mA/60V. Caution: The maximum switching voltage is 60V at relay contact level External interface This module comprises: - DIN 96 pin connector (V24, alarms, Resets, commands, APA), - two metric connectors for board power supply, - one EMI protection for the V24 ports Power supply The power supply for the board is provided by the PABX -48V. The converter delivers the 5V/1.8A and 12V/60mA required for its operation. 1-4

11 3.1 Connection The RMAB plugs either into a BRMA box either into an interface position of PABX. The RMAB /CBRMA cable is describe in RMAB/CBRMA cable - Hardware description.
