To accommodate the professional careers, the Exercise Science degree program integrates professional program prerequisites concurrently with the curriculum and providing a strong foundation in the sciences. These mostly KHP student restricted courses promote understanding of the interrelationship of physical activity with disease pathologies and community/ personal health and well-being. Exercise Science. Students have the opportunity to apply scientific principles to the human body in courses such as the following: KHP 420G: Physiology of Exercise The acute responses and chronic adaptations to a wide-range of physical exercise conditions (includes laboratory experience with EKG, blood pressures, body composition, and oxygen consumption). KHP 415: Biomechanics of Human Movement The act of mechanical principles in the study of the internal and external forces acting on the human body and the effects produced by the forces. KHP 340: Athletic Training The prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.

10 Why Choose Exercise Science? KHP 240: Nutrition and Physical Fitness The interrelationship between nutrition and physical fitness. The intent is to provide the student with the information necessary to formulate an individualized plan for the achievement and maintenance of adequate nutrition and physical fitness. KHP 350: Strength & Conditioning for Sports The fundamental principles of Exercise Science specifically as they relate to the conditioning of athletes. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists National Certification accredited by the National Strength & Conditioning Association KHP 450: Exercise Testing & Prescription The fundamental principles of Exercise Science specifically as they relate to the testing and exercise prescription of apparently healthy individuals with controlled disease. American College of Sports Medicine National Certification in Personal Training KHP 577: Practicum Internship with 300 required hours. Students receive course credit to accumulate hours toward meeting professional program admission requirements, gain first-hand experience in the health field, and learn valuable tools to become a successful professional postgraduation.
