The controls for the decompression and hydraulic Intarder engine brakes, radio and cruise-control are ergonomically positioned where they can be operated without the driver needing to take his hands off the wheel. The electric window controls are mounted in the door armrest along with the demisting controls. The controls for the optional electric door mirrors are also mounted in the same practical position. The electronic digital tachgraph is located over the windscreen, along with the audio system. Cursor engine boasts a 6 cylinder in-line configuration with overhead cams and rear camshaft drive for compact dimensions, fewer components and most importantly high structural rigidity thanks to a monobloc head and a lower cylinder block that integrates all seven crank journals in the one part. The result is reduced vibration, less noise and smoother running under all conditions, to the benefit of driver comfort and engine life. Everything about Cursor engines has been designed for maximum efficiency: aluminium crown pistons mean improved heat dispersion; low roughness liners and special piston rings ensure minimum friction; four valves per cylinder guarantee high efficiency air flow and exhaust gas scavenging. 8 VGT The 440 HP Cursor 13 engine of the Trakker Active Time and Active Day features the VGT (variable geometry turbine) which is currently the only one on the market suitable for heavy road transport. VGT turbine technology makes a major contribution to engine performance and offers superb response and better acceleration. An electronic control unit modifies the geometry of the turbine to suit engine speed. Coaxial movement of the turbine impeller controls the volume of incoming exhaust gases to maintain constant speed and increase output pressure, giving better engine power and torque. VGT technology also improves the performance of the Iveco Turbo Brake (ITB). MY HEART NEVER STOPS BEATING. CURSOR 13 The Cursor 13 is the engine you need for tough applications, harsh environments and challenging conditions. It comes in 380 and 420 HP versions, both with turbo waste-gate valve delivering high torque at low revs. The 440 HP version incorporates a variable geometry turbine (VGT) providing higher torque, better acceleration and improved drivability. The Cursor 13 is a 12,880 cc, 6 cylinder in-line engine and conforms to Euro 3 emission standards. CEB Combined Engine Brake (fitted to the 380 and 420 HP Cursor 13) is a powerful engine brake system that combines the effects of decompression and brake torque. A butterfly valve on the exhaust manifold creates back pressure to reduce engine speed and boost engine braking. Conditions like this present a tough test indeed, but Trakker always comes out on top. The decompression brake of Trakker s Cursor engines, combined with its variable geometry turbine or CEB (Combined Engine Brake) limits vehicle speed and reduces the need to use the service brakes, thus minimising brake wear. Trakker is equipped with integrated control of all its braking systems. Rear wheel drive versions are fitted with front disc brakes that are electronically controlled by the ABS and EBL systems (to optimise braking force according to load). ASR (anti-slip regulation) is also available on request. The integrated brake control system uses special logic to regulate braking: the engine brake and ZF INTARDER are activated automatically to minimise service brake wear and to reduce speed to suit driving conditions. This highly efficient braking system is backed up by rigid front axles and by a range of rear axles offering different ratios to provide the perfect configuration for all site transport needs. High ratios are available for easier missions and low ratios for tougher missions and steeper slopes. The service braking system uses drum or disc brakes on the front axles and duo drum brakes on the rear axles. All wheel drive versions are fitted with duo drum brakes on all wheels. Trakker is equipped with a revolutionary, third generation INTARDER that delivers excellent engine braking. The unit is particularly light to reduce overall weight and optimise fuel consumption. 23

PARABOLIC Trakker chassis are made from high yield steel and are available in two thicknesses: 7.7 mm for high tare missions and 10 mm for harsh applications. The Trakker chassis is made from U section beams in high strength steel (FeE490), in a choice of two thicknesses.
