The Kinetic digitizor M-DAB 0001 receiver is designed for reception of Band III Digital Audio Broadcasts (DAB, DAB+ and DMB-A) in conjunction with 12 volt negative ground FM-RDS car tuners. It is unsuitable for any other purpose. Use for other than the designed application may result in damage or injury. Installation of digitizor is simple if you follow the step-by-step instructions but if you are in doubt about any aspect of the installation please consult your retailer or arrange professional installation. Warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect installation or use. Do not install digitizor in a manner that would interfere with the driver s vision, with the safe operation of the vehicle controls or with the vehicle safety functions e.g. braking system, seatbelts and airbags. Do not install the equipment where it would be exposed to moisture excessive humidity, extreme heat or where there is no ventilation, e.g. under carpet. Do not block vents or radiator panels; doing so may cause heat build up and result in fire. Switch off all power before connecting or disconnecting any cables. Obey hand / power tool and other safety instructions to the letter. Before drilling any holes, check and double check to avoid damage to hidden vehicle components (cables, air bags, battery, etc.). Ensure cable holes are grommeted. Ensure that the installation is secure, with no loose parts. Use the correct ampere rating when replacing fuses. Failure to do so may result in fire, electric shock or damage that is not covered by warranty. There is a risk of explosion or equipment damage if the remote control's battery is replaced incorrectly. Do not disassemble or alter the equipment. Doing so will void the warranty and may result in fire or electric shock. Keep small objects such as batteries out of the reach of children and pets. Swallowing them may result in serious injury. If swallowed, consult a physician immediately. When driving, do not operate any function that could distract you from safe control of your vehicle. Any function that requires your attention should only be performed before you commence your journey or after coming to a complete stop in a safe location. 2
4 INTRODUCTION If you follow the step-by-step instructions, installation and use of digitizor is simple. To skip the blurb please go directly to page 4. DIGITIZOR'S SUPERIOR FEATURES AND BENEFITS The Kinetic digitizor TM M-DAB 0001 is an advanced in-car audio device that enables you to receive DAB radio in almost any vehicle whilst retaining the vehicle's factory appearance. digitizor DAB is operated using a radio remote commander. All messages relating to the system s operations, e.g. station name, are displayed on the display of your FM- RDS in-car audio system. digitizor's sophisticated design incorporates a World leading high-sensitivity DAB chip and unique, patented AFC (Automatic Frequency Change) circuitry that overcomes the need to switch FM frequency manually when there is a conflict with an FM radio station. This feature is particularly useful in areas where there are many FM stations. Unlike many DAB tuners, digitizor has a Pan-European specification and is capable of receiving all DAB, DAB+ and DMB-A transmissions in Band III (except in S. Korea). There is no need to switch between DAB, DAB+ and DMB-A; digitizor receives all such stations automatically. DAB, DAB+ and DMB-A Originally there was only one 'DAB' but, somewhat confusingly, ' DAB' has come to mean original DAB, DAB+ and DMB-A (sometimes called DMB-R). The original DAB is widely used but some countries use or plan to use DAB+ or DMB-A. For more information please visit or 3

My radio will not stay tuned to digitizor's transmission frequency. Ensure that the TA/TP function of your car radio is switched off. In wireless connection the signal from digitizor is weak and distorted. Ensure digitizor is switched to 'Wireless'. Nothing happens when I press the remote control buttons. Replace/check the remote battery if the LED on the top edge of the remote fails to light when you hold any button. If the above fail to cure the problem please carry out a full factory reset before consulting your retailer. CHANGING digitizor's CONNECTION METHOD A factory reset is essential if you change from wired to wireless connection or vice-versa. 24
26 ESSENTIAL INFORMATION ABOUT DAB CAR AERIALS!! The benefits of digitizor's high-sensitivity DAB chip will be lost if you fit an inferior DAB aerial!! DAB car aerials fall into four main categories: 1) Internal glass-mount aerials, which fix self-adhesively or with suckers. They are easy to install but some models are little better than no aerial at all. The best models will give good reception in a strong signal area. 2) External glass mount aerials, which fix self-adhesively and send the DAB signal from outside to inside the glass without the need for a hole. Again, some models are little better than no aerial at all but the best models give very good reception indeed. 3) Magnetic aerials also give very good reception. They are quick and easy both to install and to remove, so they are easily moved from car to car, but many are not very stylish and are quite obviously an add-on. 4) Body and roof mount aerials provide the best reception of all and look part of the car. Many are also designed to receive FM/AM and may also improve your FM/AM reception. Installation can be time-consuming but the results are usually well worthwhile. AERIALS THAT REQUIRE PHANTOM POWER!! Your DAB aerial may require internal / phantom power (if you are unsure, please refer to your DAB aerial's instructions), in which case you MUST switch on the aerial power, otherwise the aerial will not function properly, if at all: To switch on the aerial power: Press the remote's 'MENU' button. Your radio s display shows Press the button repeatedly until 'ANTENNA' shows on your radio's display. Press the button. Press the button repeatedly until 'YES' shows on your radio's display. Press the button. Display shows 'DONE'. Aerial power is now 'ON'. Press and hold the DAS button to re-scan for DAB stations. 25
