2 Esophageal Dilators IMPROVED JACKSON ESOPHAGEAL DILATORS The Jackson Esophageal Dilator from Pilling proved so popular and effective among surgeons they ve been added back into the product line. Now available in a durable silicone material (latex free). This configuration is the safest of all forms of dilators because of the thin, flexible stem that enables accurate occular guidance of the dilator into the lumen of the stricture. A small size (12 Fr.) is often useful to make sure of a lumen ahead at the cricopharyngeal and hiatel levels during esophagoscopy, as well as in cases of stenosis. The steel stem also permits the use of the tiniest filiform sizes. Namely, mercury. Mercury is toxic and requires special handling and waste disposal procedures. But our patented tungsten gel filling is completely non-toxic. What s more, these bougies can be sterilized via steam, unlike mercury-filled bougies, they won t rupture during steam sterilization. In addition, the silicone casing is non-slip when dry and slippery when wet. So it gives you a good grip, yet allows for easier, less traumatic insertion. Unlike rubber, it won t cause problems for patients who are allergic to latex. So consider our new bougies for everything they have. And, even better, for the one thing they don t. Patented tungsten gel-filling is completely non-toxic, making it safer for patients and staff, and far less costly to dispose of. The small, flexible tip is easily introduced through the cricopharynx area, cardioesophageal junction, or stenosis. Once the tip is through the involved area, the tapered end allows the single bougie to dilate this portion of the esophagus to its maximum limit.
