We are so proud of you! These medals are the result of our collaborated effort. Message This year has been very exciting for the family of SIS Cilegon. In spite of the ups and down we have proven to be a family bonded towards one goal and target which is to guide and nourish our children s dream. We have proven during the SIS Olympics though we are few yet we are strong because we have each other to lean on and support all the way. So in behalf of SIS Cilegon teachers and staff, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the parents who have been very supportive throughout this academic year. We are hoping that we will still be working hand in hand next academic year. Ms Ginalyn Tenorio Head Teacher
SINGAPORE here WE come! One of our learning journey was in Singapore last March SIS - Cilegon together with SIS - Kebon Jeruk and SIS - Medan had an awesome study tour experience. During the tour, we learned a lot of things not only about the subjects taught in school but also respecting each other as friends, respecting different cultures as we are in a foreign country and most especially being independent. Singapore is a fine country. I learned that to make a better place, we should stop throwing rubbish everywhere. We should also follow rules that are made because it is not only to be read but to be done. Keiji P5 My best experience in Singapore was when we went to Admiralty Primary School. We spent three days in the said school. During my stay there, I met a lot of friends. We sit-in to their classes and I quite like it because there were many students in a class. Emilie P5 Page 2
We spent five awesome days in Singapore. We went to Marina Bay Sands, China Town, Mint Toys Museum and Chocolate Shop for our first day. We also had fun in Science Centre and Takashimaya Mall for our second day after we study in Admiralty Primary School in the morning. For our third day, we learnt more about plants and vegetables in Bollywood Veggies. And of course, we did not miss the rides and shows in Universal Studios for our fourth day. We enjoyed our last day shopping in Burgis Street. We also took pleasure in having our buffet lunch in the said place. It was indeed a very tiring but productive week for us. Rerry P6 Page 3 I can t forget our tour to Singapore because I was happy how my school buddy, Trevin, helped me feel like I belong to their school. Friendy, P6
On 13 December, 2012 SIS Cilegon had their fieldtrip around our very own city. We visited V- Nice Bakery, Mc Donald, Dunkin Donut and our City Fire Station. We went around the city by bus. We started our exciting tour at 8.30 am. Our first stop was in V-Nice Bakery. The pupils learnt how to make milk shake and Ice Chocolate. They learnt how to decorate a cake. The activities took about 2 hours. After the baking activities in V Nice we went to McDonald. The Pre-School pupils had fun going around the kitchen and in the playground. They were so excited to see the big freezer. It was very cool place! Primary pupils had their turn to go inside the kitchen by group and learnt how to cook their own hamburger. After cooking, all children had lunch and ice cream. Around 1 p.m. everyone was so excited to go to Dunkin Donut. We were welcomed by Dunkin s staffs, then everyone had a chance to sprinkle different flavor on the donut. Our last stop was the fire station. In there, the head of the department explained to us the important role of fire fighter. The children were so excited to try to be a fireman. The most exciting part of our trip in the fire station was when we were asked to ride in the fire truck going around the fire engine area. All of us seems to enjoyed that trip. We went back to school at 2 pm, though tired, surely all of us had fun and have stories to tell on the way home. Page

I am a Korean pastor and serve the Korean church in Cilegon. We are a family of five, my wife, 9-year-old daughter, 7-year-old son and 5-year-old son. My family came to Indonesia on April 13, 2012 and my children stared to attend the SIS Cilegon from April 16. My wife and I gave thanks to God, because there is Singapore International School in Cilegon, even though Cilegon is a small city. We were worried that our children could not adapt themselves to a strange environment. My daughter, Jeongwon, has finished the first grade of elementary school in Korea, so she could read and write English. But my two sons, Heesung and Heegeon, hardly knew English. I was worried that Heesung and Heegeon who hardly knew English would have some troubles in the school. However me and my wife were glad to see that our children went to school together wearing SIS uniforms on the first day. We believed that our three children would make it despite some difficulties in the school. My three children adjusted well to new life in school than I thought, because all teachers took care of my children very warmly. My daughter, Jeongwon adjusted to school quickly, but two sons, Heesung and Heegeon had troubles especially in English. Whenever I thought that they will go to school as they didn't know even the English alphabet, I was sick at heart. Sometimes, they would say nervously that they don t want to go to school. My wife and I would convinced that they must go to school, but we already knew that they had hard time in school everyday. However my children began to adapt to the life in the school quickly as time passed. My children played with Korean children at first, but they started playing with foreign children who speaks English. My children who does not like the English language now likes to read English books and watch English animations as well. We were greatly surprised that my children talked with each other in English at home. We were very glad to see them and gave thanks to God sincerely. My first daughter, Jeongwon likes to learn foreign language - English, Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese. My son, Heesung won two silver medals and one bronze medal in the swimming event during the SIS Olympics. Heesung who doesn t want to go to school at first now hang out with friends and doing well. He is well adapted to the life in school perfectly now, so probably that s the reason why he won medals during SIS Olympics. My youngest son, Heegeon also likes to go to school and play with friends in school. He converse with his brother and sister in English. I am so happy every time I see him asked his teacher in English bravely. Although my family had some difficulties in the past year, we were so happy in now. My children love the SIS Cilegon teachers and friends. We thank God that my children can experience the wide world with good teachers and friends in Indonesia and help them reach their dreams. We thank all teachers and staffs of SIS Cilegon for taking care of my children and teaching them all values in life. SIS Cilegon gives beautiful dreams to my children and my family. Page 6
SIS Cilegon family had their exciting Open House last 22 February All were so eager to showcase what we got and what we are doing in school that makes us different. The preparations were so exciting that all of us in school were involve from Preschool to Primary, from teaching and non teaching staff. The Primary pupils opened the event with their Waka Waka Dance, our entry to the recent concluded SIS Arts Festival in Jakarta. We were also delighted to have Ms Cora, the former Principal of SIS Cilegon, as our guest who formally opened the event, with her inspiring words. Our charming Preschoolers show off their sing and dance talent led by Aadisa and Nicky from K1 as they sang Love you like a Love Song. They also showcase their talent by role playing the story of The Three Little Pigs. Their famous line with my, became popular during the practice and the event as well. The Primary 5 and 6 show their English skill through Classical Oration from the famous speech Brutus says in Shakespeare s play after Caesar s murder. They also did Chinese choral reading which salutes teachers. All Primary pupils showcase their talent in playing different musical instruments. This shows that we are not only academically inclined but we develop every talent we have and we are proud to show it off. In every Open House we always have the time to show our curriculum. For sure we will have another exciting Open House next academic year. Watch for it! Page 7

It was quite tricky but we all learned to do balan-cing and right Concentration and being patience in forming the correct figure were our planning to have a firm foundation for our tower. The next game was Minute to Win it where all activities in the different stations will only be done for a minute so our speed, accuracy and time management were put into test. DAY 2 ( 5 May ) Finger Printing, Mixing Colours and Create Me: Tangrams were our activities that day. It was nice comparing our fingerprints and making designs out of it. Preschoolers were amazed to see how colours combine using cold and hot water. It was cha- llenging but rewar- ding creating patterns using tangrams. DAY 3 ( 6 May ) It was such a delight to catch a glimpse of the Upper Primary pupils setting up their game stations to entertain their friends and visitors. All the pupils made a great effort and did their best as they enjoyed the Carnival. tools to get points in this activity. Page 8 Page 8
Burning money was thrilling. I had the chance to do it in front of my group. Hint: It was the alcohol that burnt and not the money. Friendy ( P6 ) Minute to Win it and Amazing Race were my favourites. It was nerve cracking but exciting every time we finish a station. I am very happy my group did well here. tween the 3 groups. DAY 5 ( 8 May ) Using ourselves and chips we had the MathSci-O. It was like a bingo game but we used Science and Maths concepts. We DAY 4 ( 7 May ) Adrenalines on the run for all the challenges that we went through this Amazing Race. 11 For the second time, the whole SIS Cilegon family went to visit Panti Asuhan Baituraman, Serang, Banten Province. It is an orphanage in the city of Serang which give shelter to around 270 homeles kids. This activity was spearheaded by our Prefects with the full support of our parents as well. We brought our donated food / rice, milk, toiletries, clothes, carpets and school supplies to the said orphanage last 8 February During our visit, we the Prefects, danced gangnam style to entertain the orphans. We prepared games for them and we gave prizes to the winners. We also tried to talk to them though they were shy to answer us. One of our parents friends offered her expertise in cutting the hair of the orphans who wish to have a haircut. By: Raga P4, Head Prefect I felt sad for the orphans because they have to live in a small place and they don t have a chance to know their parents. But I was happy for them, because there are people who take care of them and we had a chance to help them by sharing what we have. By: Trisha P3 I think they were happy too because we had a lot of fun and I saw it in their smiles as they were very welcoming to us. We gave them things that they need for living and things they will use for school. By: Emilie P5 I feel happy to have the chance to help the orphans and I am willing to help any orphans by giving them the things that I don t use. By: Keiji, P5 Page 11
SIS Olympics 2013 I and Emilie did our best and won a silver medal. I was so happy to get it and it was I got 2 silver medals for singles and doubles. I did some perfect smash! The most awaited event of the athletes has finally come! Every year, all the athletes from eight different SIS schools gather in one place to show their talents not only in academic but also in sports. This year s Olympics was held in of April I was happy I won medal in swimming. Sendi, P4 I was so nervous when I had my tennis throw event. But I actually did it and I won bronze! Trisha, P3 I was so happy because I got gold medal in tennis throw event. Evann, P2 I like Olympics because I always got medals. That s because I always practice! Safira, P2 Page 10 Page 12
GO FOR GOLD When I was going to the lane, I was very excited to run and pass the baton to my team-mate. We won silver medals in 50 m and 100 m relay. It was fun! Laura, P2 I like Olympics because I made my parents proud and happy. My parents and I were happy because I won two silver medals in running relay. Katrin, P2 Olympics is fun! We had a chance to compete with other athletes from different SIS schools. If you are lucky and fast, then you can have medals. During our 3-day stay in Jakarta, we learned how to take care of ourselves and our things. I was really doing my best for the events that I have been practicing for about three months. As a result to my perseverance, I won medals in all the events that I was asked to participate. I had three medals in swimming, 1 gold and 2 silvers and in running I had two silver medals. Ako, P2 Page 11
Family Day is one of the most awaited events in SIS Cilegon. It aims to build harmonious relationship, display teamwork and good sportsmanship among families. This year, it was held on the 10 th May With the banners, props and costumes, the children, parents, visitors, support staff and teachers were excited and brimming with anticipation while looking forward to the activities. The atmosphere was truly stimulating. The event got underway with a traditional parade of house colours. Pupils and parents waved enthusiastically during the procession as the wonderful Masters of Ceremonies, Ms. Diah and Ibu Annick called out each team s name. Ms. Gina and team representative s,namely Ako, Safira and Emilie were called to light the torch. It was followed by the raising of banners. creative banners. Page 10
The activities started with an exciting Yell and Cheer competition prepared by each House. The team members performed with overflowing energy in their vocals and choreography. It gave the judges, Ms. Gina, Ms. Nora and Ms. Eka, such a tough time to come up with decisive results. The games were no less exhilarating. The children and parents had an immensely enjoyable time playing the Tug-of-War, Sack Race, Mother Went to Market Relay, Kerupuk-eating Contest, Piggyback Race, Longest line and the favourite of all: soccer. After all the games had ended, finally the points were totaled. The blue team was declared victorious, closely followed by the green team and red team. The day ended with a smile on everyone s face, tired but had a lot of fun, a memory that will no doubt stay with the pupils for the rest of their lives. Page 11
For 9 years here in SIS, I have learnt a lot of things. It taught me how to speak and express myself in English. It was my second home and I learnt to be independent and respect other cultures. SIS made me what I am today. Studying here made me smart and responsible person. In SIS, I gained a lot of friends. It was also an avenue for me to go and see places I have not been to.
