1 Turkey GENCTUR Special Senior Camp GEN-33 SENIOR CAMP YENI SAKRAN AGRI 8 VOLS This workcamp is a special one for people over 35 years old. Afacan Youth House is a place where GENCTUR runs voluntary workcamps for disadvantaged youth and children, disabled people, teenagers and kids. In order to supply annual olive and olive oil stocks, the center will host volunteers to pick up and process olives from a municipal field. W: Volunteers will collect olives from the trees, separate according to quality, pack, make stripes on olives, etc. There is a chance to see olive oil making process in a factory. As the youth center will be shut after this camp the volunteers will be asked to help to carry goods and some cleaning work as well as part of their daily work. A: In the youth center, in double rooms with toilet and shower. F: Will be supplied at the center. LA: English. LO: Yenisakran is by the Aegean Sea, in west of Turkey. The next city is Izmir. T: Izmir. Volunteers should arrange their arrivals to Izmir Airport. Further and alternative details about arrival will be given on the info sheet. GEN-00 GAPGENC FESTIVAL ADIYAMAN FEST 15 VOLS GAP-GENÇ Festival, ( aims to bring different youth NGOs together, in order to introduce themselves to each other and to the youth of the provinces in the south-east of Turkey. It is organized in different cities every year. ( This year Adiyaman Youth & Culture House which is a local NGO is the host. The festival itself will be a 3 days event between May. Activities like concerts, exhibitions, panels, NGO fair, fine art ateliers, etc. will be a part of the festival. Young volunteers of age will be preferred for this project. W: Helping to the organization committee for realizing the festival i.e. arranging the activity areas and the stands in the fair area, setting up the tent city for accommodation, assist the ateliers, clean up the environment after the activities. Volunteers are also expected to organize an international group activity like a drama or any kind of performance and to help to fold up the tents after the festival. A: Under tents in tent city, sleeping bag and mat are necessary. F: Will be served at the site. LA: English LO: Adiyaman is a province in south-east of Turkey. The world famous Nemrut Mountain with huge sculptures on, is near by. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp, on Tuesday. The group will depart on Wednesday and travel all over Turkey from west to the south-east by coach (18 hours). Thus 1 overnight stay in Istanbul on is compulsory with an extra cost of 15 Euro on bed & breakfast basis. The meals in Istanbul and on the way to the camp

2 site are volunteers responsibility until the group reaches to the camp site. The rest of the camp days will be spent in Adıyaman province. T: İstanbul. GEN-01 MATH VILLAGE SIRINCE RENO-CONS 12 VOLS Have you ever heard of Mathematic Village? Probably not, because it is a 6 years old village. If you like nature and mathematic this is a tailor made project for you. If you hate mathematic you can still join the camp, as the project is not related with math but is about helping to build a non-formal education center in nature. Mathematic Village is created by a university professor aiming to endear math to young people. Around 80 math lovers gather in this center during summer holidays, to learn, exercise and study math. International and national math professors are voluntarily sharing their knowledge with young students during the mathematical activities. W: The center still needs some constructional work and landscaping and volunteers are needed for this task in order to prepare the complex for the coming season. A: In the complex of Math Village. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Food is provided by the staff of the Math Village. Volunteers help the staff for preparing, cooking the meals and setting up the tables. LA: English. LO: Sirince is a small village in the west of Turkey. Please be aware that the center is a bit isolated. No night life, TV or disco is available at the center. But the next village Sirince, which is only 15 minutes by foot, is very attractive and famous for its homemade wines and traditional architecture. The nearest town Selcuk, which is the home of world famous Ephessus open-air museum. The nearest city Izmir, is one hour away by coach. T:Istanbul. GEN-02 DAP-GENC FESTIVAL UZUNDERE-ERZURUM FEST 20 VOLS After hosting the Universiade Winter Sports Game in 2011, Erzurum is going to host the first international Youth Festival : DAP-GENC. The festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Youth & Sport and GENÇTUR as a Project partner, will run an international work camp for the preparation and organization works of the festival. The host organizsations are Uzundere Municipality and Caglayan Science, Culture and Art Association. W: Volunteers will set up stands and stages, prepare the festival ground for activities, clean the environment and collect waste, as well as promoting their countries and cultures through different workshop sor performances. Volunteers can also participate in the running activities like canoing, mountain biking, trekking, cultural tours, concerts, rock climbing. Volunteers are expected to bring promotional materials introducing their countries and cultures. A: In a camping site by a lake, under tents. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. F: Will be supplied at the camp site. LA: English. LO: Uzundere is a small town in the east of Turkey and loacted on the hills, 1000 meter from the see level. Nearest city is Erzurum. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp Friday. The group will depart on Saturday and travel all over Turkey from west to the east by coach (20 hours). Thus 1 overnight stay in Istanbul is compulsory with an extra cost of 15 Euro on bed & breakfast basis. The meals in Istanbul and on the way to the camp site are volunteers responsibility until the group reaches to the camp site. The rest of the camp days will be spent in Erzurum province. 3 GEN-03 THEATRE MADRASA-1 SIRINCE RENO-CONS 15 VOLS Theatre Madrasa is designed as an international centre for research, creation and performance to be built in Sirince, a village of Selcuk, Izmir, Turkey. Madrasa aims to be an alternative venue to host those artists, who have an ambition to not only answer current questions on theatre and performing arts but also raise the new ones. Theatre Madrasa intends to be a centre of attraction and meeting point for Turkey and world theatre. W: The center still needs some constructional work and landscaping and volunteers are needed for this task in order to prepare the complex for the coming season. A: In the complex of Theatre Madrasa. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Food is provided by the staff of the Theatre Madrasa. Volunteers help the staff for preparing, cooking the meals and setting up the tables. LA: English. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening GEN-04 YOGA FARM YALOVA AGRI 10 VOLS Yoga Farm is owned by Ananda Marga (Way to inner happiness) Yoga Association and located in the country side. It has 30 hectares land and a house. They grow several fruits, vegetables, herbal plants in the farm and need volunteers to work in daily farm works. This camp aims to create an awareness on volunteers about yoga and ecological way of living. Interested participants can join the Yoga practises with the farmer. If you are doing yoga or at least interested in learning, this camp fits you very well. W: The days will start with optinal yoga practises and then work. The work will vary daily and consist of working on the field in open air without shed. The plan is working 3 hours in the morning, 3 hours in the afternoon. Therefore wake ups are early. Breaks are during the hottest hours of the day. A: In the farm house. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. F: Volunteers will prepare their own meal by the given food. Only vegetarian food will be available and no onion is consumed. LA: English. LO: Yalova is a sea side city by the Marmara Sea, in the North-west of the country. The farm is 15 km from the city and the next village is 2 km. The location is isolated. Please be aware that there is no internet connection, TV or night life in this camp. Smoking and alcohol consuming is not allowed. Contact with the local people will be limited. T: İstanbul. Extra Fee: 20 Euro per volunteer to contribute the food expenses. GEN-05 TEACH CAMP-1 ARAPGIR MALATYA TEACH 10 VOLS Arapgir is a hospitable town and hosting international volunteers for 2 years already. This year the town will host 2 different groups. In this first camp we need good English speaking volunteers to practice English with the teenager students (aged 14-17) of the midschool of the town. The main task of the volunteers will be encouraging the youngsters to use their English in daily life through games, talks, conversations, dialogs, competitions and activities. W: Practicing English with the teenagers. Each volunteer will deal with a group of pupils in turn, each day & session. They will also attend classes in the school from time to time. A: In a student dormitory. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the venue, some dinners may be offered by the

4 families of the students. LA: English. R: Volunteers must be at least 20 years old with a good level of English. A motivation letter containing a Skype ID must be sent together with the application form. Applicants will be interviewed via Skype before being confirmed. LO: Arapgir is a medium size town in central Anatolia. Nearest city is Malatya. T: Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting, that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp at GENCTUR Office. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening. Note: No alcohol is permitted during the camp at the campsite and the accommodation venue. Smoking is not allowed while volunteers are with the students. GEN-06 SCOUT HOUSE SILIVRI ISTANBUL TEEN/RENO 10 VOLS The National Education Directorate of Silivri town is willing to host a group of teenage volunteers to renovate the scout house in a near by village. The scout house is used by the scout groups in the summer. A local scout group will also join in the camp. The volunteers and the scouts will prepare the center for the summer. W: Painting in and outdoor walls of the scout house and some gardening work. A: In the scout house, on bunk beds. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Volunteers will prepare their own meal by the given food. LA: English. LO: Silivri is a town by the Sea of Marmara and 1 hour to Istanbul by car. The project site is a samll village with 300 inhabitants and 15 km from the town center. Airport transfer may be organized by GENCTUR upon request but only from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (in the European side) on Saturday, between hours, at the cost of 20. The group will depart to the camp site on the same evening by an overnight coach. The return coach ticket is 20 to be paid on arrival. The teen participants will also be accompanied on their return to Istanbul on Saturday. Thus the return flight tickets must be arranged for Saturday afternoon. Extra Fee: 20 Euro. 5 GEN-08 TEACH CAMP-2 TURHAL-TOKAT TEACH 10 VOLS The Regional Directorate of National Education of Turhal town will host international volunteers to practice English with the teenager students (aged 14-17) of different schools of the town. The main task of the volunteers will be encouraging the youngsters to use their English in daily life through games, talks, conversations, dialogs, competitions and activities. W: Practicing English with the teenagers. Each volunteer will deal with a group of pupils in turn, each day & session. A: In a student dormitory. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the venue, some dinners may be offered by the families of the students. LA: English. R: Volunteers must be at least 20 years old with a good level of English. Smoking is not allowed while volunteers are with the students. GEN-09 FAMILY CAMP LAPSEKI MANU RENO 15 VOLS Lapseki is a small town by the Sea of Marmara. The locals will harvest cherry in mid June and will celebrate the harvest by a local Cherry Festival. The municipality is running a public camping site in the summer where they will host our teenage camp in July. The site needs to be prepared for the summer. W: The volunteers will work at the camping site and around as well as in the town for the preparation of the festival to do some environmental arrangments. The tasks will vary daily and the works will be light to let the kids to contribute. A: Basic, in camping rooms with 4 beds. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. Toilets and showers are common. F: Will be supplied at the site. LA: English. LO: Lapseki is in the North-west of Turkey. T: İstanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening. Extra Fee: 30 Euro per adult and per kid over 5 years old. GEN-10 TEACH CAMP-3 YESILYURT-TOKAT TEACH 5 VOLS Primary school kids in age group of Yeşilyurt (Greenland) town are very excited to meet foreign volunteers first time in their life and to have face to face conversation classes with them. International volunteers will practice English with the kids through games, talks, conversations, dialogs, competitions and activities. W: Practicing English with kids. Each volunteer will deal with a group of pupils in turn, each day & session. A: In a student dormitory. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the venue, some dinners may be offered by the families of the students. LA: English. R: Volunteers must have a good level of English. GEN-11 LET S SPEAK ENGLISH-1 IZMIR LANG 15 VOLS Do you want to improve your English in an international group of young people? This is a camp for you to have fun with less work and more speaking. You will speak a lot to improve your English. There will be Turkish youngsters as well in the group. So you will have a chance to learn a lot about them and you will introduce your culture and country. You will play games altogether. It will be a great camp, great fun. 5 places are reserved for people under 18. Airport transfer may be organized by GENCTUR upon request but only from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (in the European side) on Monday, between hours, at the cost of 20. The group will depart to the camp site on the same evening by an overnight coach. The return coach ticket is 60 to be paid on arrival. W: Some days there will be light work as a group activity. A: In a camping site by the seaside, under tents. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. F: Will be served at the site. LA: English. LO: Seferihisar is the first slow city (Citta Slow) of Turkey in the West of Turkey. Camp site is by the sea. Extra Fee: 200 Euro to cover the cost of accommodation, food and the administrative costs of the local host. Part of the fee will raise a fund for disabled people to camp at the same place after the camp. T: Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting, that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp at GENCTUR Office. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening. GEN-12 HELP THEM TO SPEAK-1 IZMIR TEACH 10 VOLS SEKADER is a local NGO aiming to socialize disabled people of the area through water sports. They hired a camping site where they teach swimming, kanoing and diving to disabled people. To raise a fund to cover the costs of the camping site they run a camp to practise English. Good English speakers are invited to spend 2 weeks with a group of international youngsters who wish to improve their English in such a camp. W: Practicing English through daily activities, games and manual work. Volunteers must be minimum 20 years old and agree to share responsibilities together with the group leader. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. Thus creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. A motivation letter including the Skype ID should be send along with the application form. Applicants will be interviewed via Skype before being confirmed. W: Organizing and running daily activities with local and international youngsters to practice English. A: Basic, in camping tents. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. Toilets and showers are shared. GEN-13 FUN WITH KIDS YENISAKRAN-IZMIR SOCI / KIDS 4 VOLS

7 GENCTUR runs a summer camp for a group of kids aged between whose families are financially supporting this holiday in Afacan Youth House ( by the seaside. The fund raised by such camps is used to support disadvantaged kids to have a holiday in the same center in the same summer. The main thema of the camp is photography. We are looking for communicative, talkative volunteers who are at least 20 years old with a good command of English. Because practicing English with songs, games and dialogues will be a part of your task. Experience on photography and abilities on any sports (like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc.) chess, arts & crafts, music, dance, drama, in & outdoor group games is preferable. You will share the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids and teens from the beginning till the end of the camp; including the trips outside of the camp as well as all kind of activities during the camp. Please note that you will be dealing with the kids through the given & intensive program all day long. You will spend most of your time with the kids in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus contact with the locals is very limited; however, you will have contact with the working people and the people from other groups in Afacan Youth House. Volunteers may have fun together only after the kids go to the bed and the team cover the late, daily staff meeting in the camp. Leaving the camp area is not allowed due to unexpected emergency cases. Teamwork is very essential for this camp. Thus any volunteer who disagrees with the camp rules and team spirit are asked to leave. Smoking & drinking alcohol is not allowed during the camp at the campsite in front of the kids. Please be aware of the rules before applying. W: Counselling a group of children aged between years old, leading several activities for them. A: In Afacan Youth Centre ( in 3-6 bedded rooms with toilet and shower. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied at the campsite. GEN-14 SCHOOL GARDEN KARAAGAC-EDIRNE RENO 12 VOLS Karaagac is the last town of Turkey before the Greek border. The boarding school in the town hosts 50 disadvantaged kids from lover economical level families of the region. The building and the garden of the school needs help to be renovated. W: Development work in the garden of the school, painting the walls of the school building. A: In the dormitory of the school. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied in the school. LA: English. LO: Karaagac is a small town in the North-west of Turkey. It is 4 km. from the city center. T: Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting, that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp at GENCTUR Office. 8 GEN-15 TEACH TO TEENS LAPSEKI-CANAKKALE TEACH 10 VOLS Native or non-native English speakers are invited to spend 2 weeks with mostly teenagers and some university students in a camp site in order to practice English by daily lessons, activities, games and some light manual work. Volunteers must be minimum 20 years old and agree to share responsibilities together with the group leader. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. Thus creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. A motivation letter including the Skype ID should be send along with the application form. Applicants will be interviewed via Skype before being confirmed. GEN-16 MEET YOUR PEERS LAPSEKI TEEN 10 int.+ 50 Turkish This camp is for teenagers who want to practice English in an international atmosphere. There will be local teenagers as well. The adult international volunteers, will organize different activities & games for the group of teens. Airport transfer may be organized by GENCTUR upon request but only from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (in the European side) on Saturday between hours, at the cost of 20. The group will depart to the camp site on the same evening by an overnight coach. The return coach ticket is 40 to be paid on arrival. GEN-17 JUBILE CAMP (FRENCH SPEAKING) GOMURGEN KAYSERI VOLS The isolated but hospitable town Gomurgen is going to host international volunteers for the last time as a jubilee. GENÇTUR has run 6 consecutive work camps in the past years and paved the streets of the town, cleaned the ground in the tree nursery and took care of the trees in the following years. This year the mayor is planning an awareness project for the locals about clean

9 environment. W: Volunteers will collect the waste materials in and around the town. A: In a house reserved for the volunteers in rooms for 6 people. Toilet and shower are shared, Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. F: The volunteers will prepare their own meals with the given food. LA: English. LO: Gomurgen is located in the middle of Turkey. The nearest city is Kayseri. In the free days you can visit the world famous Cappadocia underground cities and fairy chimneys. T: Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp. The group will travel together to the camp site by an overnight coach on the same evening. GEN-18 FUN WITH KIDS/TEENS YENISAKRAN SOCI/KIDS 4 VOLS GENCTUR runs a summer camp for a group of Turkish kids aged between and Turkish / foreign teenagers aged whose families are financially supporting this holiday in Afacan Youth House ( by the seaside. Each group will stay for 7 days at the center. The fund raised by such camps is used to support disadvantaged kids to have a holiday in the same center in the same summer. We are looking for communicative, talkative volunteers who are at least 20 years old with a good command of English. Because practicing English with songs, games and dialogues will be a part of your task during the kid s week. The main thema of the kid s week is photography.the teen group will create a short film in the camp. Experience on photography and short film making and abilities on any sports (like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc.) chess, arts & crafts, music, dance, drama, in & outdoor group games is preferable. You will share the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids and teens from the beginning till the end of the camp; including the trips outside of the camp as well as all kind of activities during the camp. Please be aware that you will be dealing with the kids / teens through the given & intensive program all day long. You will spend most of your time with the kids / teens in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus contact with the locals is very very limited; however, you will have contact with the working staff and the people from other groups in Afacan Youth House. To raise a fund to cover the costs of the camping site they run a camp to practise English. Good English speakers are invited to spend 2 weeks with a group of international youngsters who wish to improve their English in such a camp. W: Practicing English through daily activities, games and manual work. Volunteers must be minimum 20 years old and agree to share responsibilities together with the group leader. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. Thus creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. The participants will use their creativity & express their ideas to write their scenario, act, shoot and direct their films in this camp. Besides, the daily program of the camp may consists of different activities like sports, arts & crafts, creative drama, music, etc. Some days are reserved for trekking and sight seeing tours. Turkish & international volunteers will be leading or assisting the daily activities. Afacan Youth House is a place where GENCTUR hosts various voluntary and youth camps. The campsite is a secure place and participants will not be allowed to leave the camp site on their own. GEN-24 EAST-WEST MEETING YENISAKRAN-IZMIR SOCI 8 VOLS With contributions of sister NGOs, as well as our own financial and staff sources, GENCTUR offers a free of charge alternative holiday in Afacan Youth House ( for socialy and economically disadvantaged youth, for social inclusion. GENCTUR, priotizes ALLIANCE s Access for All campaign and thus tries to give the equal opportunities to disadvantaged youth to participate in voluntary activities. 20 university students in each term, aged years old, from different, mainly from the eastern cities ofturkey will have a chance to experience a useful & different holiday during this camp. The mayor is keen of hosting foreigners in his town. Last year a group of international volunteers drew pictures on a wall in the town. This year another wall will be painted. The municipality will prepare the drafts and ask the volunteers to apply them on the wall. W: Drawing and painting a wall in the town in order to give a better looking. A: In a student dormitory. A trekking and orienteering competition with the scouts will be organized in the free days. W: Hoeing around young trees, collecting stones, weeding the area, watering. A small village of the town will host our volunteers for different type of manual work to improve the situation of the village. This camp will offer a lot of close contact with the locals and apples. 15 This workcamp is a special one for people over 35 years old. Afacan Youth House is a place where GENCTUR runs voluntary workcamps for disadvantaged youth and children, disabled people, teenagers and kids. In order to supply annual olive and olive oil stocks, the center will host volunteers to pick up and process olives from a municipal field. W: Volunteers will collect olives from the trees, separate according to quality, pack, make stripes on olives, etc. There is a chance to see olive oil making process in a factory. As the youth center will be shut after this camp the volunteers will be asked to help to carry goods and some cleaning work as well as part of their daily work. MTV PROJECTS GEN-MTV1 SEA TURTLES DALYAN MUGLA ENVI 2 VOLS The Research Rescue and Rehabilitation Center for Sea Turtles (DEKAMER ) is loacted in Iztuzu Beach where Caretta Carettas lay their eggs. The center is run by academic staff and volunteers and the expenses are covered by donations. 2 volunteers needed per month. W: Volunteers needed for different tasks like patrolling on the beach during the egg laying season, rescuing wounded sea turtles and taking care of and feeding them during the curing period, distrubuting brochures to create an awareness about the dangers that the turtles face, giving information to the visitiors, sharing the daily tasks, etc. Before deciding to choose this camp please read the working rules at very carefully. A:Bunk beds in containers. Bed sheets are supplied. Sleeping bag is necessary during the beach patrol. Toilets and showers are shared. F: Supplied at the camp site. International volunteers will help the projects in the Dreams Academy Center in Batı-Ataşehir (at the Asian site of İstanbul ) with all aspects of workshop preparation, workshop performances as well as any other office or field work related to the project. Candidates should be at least 20 years old and have a strong motivation to work with disabled people, socially disadvantaged groups & individuals and write a detailed motivation letter including their experiences (if any) and wish to be a part of a hard working team.
