3 Scientific activity His scientific activity has focused on the pathology of endocrine glands and digestive system and on the new technologies in surgery. He has been involved in the study of primary and secondary parathyroid disease and in particular in the study of the role of intraoperative PTH assay in the surgical management of hyperparathyroidism. He has been also interested in the pathology of thyroid and parotid gland. As for the research activity about the digestive system, he provided a noticeable contribution regarding the study of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and the proper indications for neoadjuvant therapy in this disease. His Scientific activity has also dealt with the treatment of neoplastic and non neoplastic gastric diseases. Particular attention has been paid to surgical techniques and to indications for gastric lymphectomy. At the moment the most important research activity concerns colorectal diseases and the various new technologies for their treatment. He has often been invited speaker about this topic at International workshop, E.G.the SIUCP world congress, or at the Congress, held by SIC.
