1 For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self control. Our lives then are meant not to be ones of fear but strident faith. For evil to succeed all one needs to do is stay silent. We are not called be silent but loud in our proclamations of faith. For the Lord has commissioned each one of us to this life. We live in a world which allows us to do whatever and yet we cannot call each other to a better state of conduct. This seems to say that not only is that way of living wrong but indeed opposite to how we are wired! It is only when we accept our commissioning as apostles that we can truly find our way in the midst of the debris of our lives. This is the manner in which we should live our lives not seeking merely goals for ourselves but seeking out the will of God. If we can do this then we will find our lives made truly complete. We will have a life in which no endeavor will be too great for us and no weight too heavy. For the Lord our God will sustain us. But with all these things we will need to restrain our egos and not become too heady. Paul encourages self control and Jesus says: So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do. Thus we are called and so should we live. Not limited but in the fullness of God s life sustained and formed into the Kingdom of Heaven, here on earth. Parish Membership We would like every adult (out of High School) to be properly registered in the parish. Please call the parish office or visit the parish website for the registration form. We are only delegated to perform certain Sacraments for registered members, i.e. Marriage. Please let us know when you move out of the Parish or change your address. Matrimony The couple should contact Fr. Bill no less than 6 months prior to the anticipated date, in order to give adequate time for preparation. Diocesan policy requires the couple to attend a Pre Cana program. One person in the couple must be a registered parishioner and a practicing Catholic. Baptisms Baptisms can be celebrated during masses on Sat. and Sun. A sacramental preparation program for all parents is held prior to baptism. It is necessary for all parents to participate. Godparents are also welcome. Please call either parish office to register for this one time meeting. Please stay around if possible after the 6:30 PM and 8:00 AM Masses. SFA Parish Firelight Night Thanks to all those who made possible our family celebration of the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish. We thank, also, all our people in harm s way defending our nation. The event was held October 6, 2007 at the church grounds in Michael. Annual Catholic Service Appeal Please prayerfully consider your gift to the Annual Catholic Service Appeal for The goal for Blessed Trinity Parish is $25, and the goal for Saint Francis of Assisi is $22, Whatever our parishioners do not give towards this goal is then paid out of parish funds. This is our share of helping the Bishop train Priests and Deacons, to provide educational support to our schools and many other areas of ministry that we are called to as a Catholic Diocese. Catechetical News Thank you to all who participated in the Living with Christ Retreat last weekend. Comments indicate that it was an enriching, faith filled experience. Spaghetti Supper The Hardin American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a spaghetti supper on October 17 from 4:30 to 7:00 pm at the Legion in Hardin.
