1 How to Offer An Elective Course I. SCHEDULING: Do Steps 1-4 before you promote the class or recruit students. Step 1: Director & Pastor decide which elective to make available to your students. Your choices are: Scientific & Biblical Creationism (2 credit hours) Doctrine of Prophecy (2 credit hours) Doctrine of Angels (1 credit hour) Personal Evangelism (1 credit hour) Discipleship Evangelism (4 credit hours) Biblical Leadership Seminar (1 Credit hour) See Elective Brochures for Course Descriptions and Prices. Step 2: Choose the date that your class will start if you are successful in recruiting 8 or more students (Step 6). Step 3: Choose a format for the elective you are considering. Your choices are: Prophecy is 12-45/50 minute sessions (plus test). 12 weeks - 1 class each night OR 6 weeks - 2 classes each night OR 4 weeks - 3 classes each night Creation is minute classes (plus test). 16 weeks - 1 class each night OR 8 weeks - 2 classes each night OR 4 weeks - 4 classes each night Angels is 8-36 minute classes (plus test). 8 weeks - 1 class each night OR 4 weeks - 2 classes each night OR 2 weeks - 4 classes each night Personal Evangelism is 6 50 minute classes (plus test, plus assignments to share your faith with others) 6 weeks 1 class each night OR 3 weeks 2 classes each night OR 2 weeks 3 classes each night Discipleship Evangelism is 6-45/50 minute classes (plus a commitment to win one person to Christ and disciple them for one year) 6 weeks 1 class each night OR 3 weeks 2 classes each night OR 2 weeks 3 classes each night Biblical Leadership Seminar is designed to be offered as a Weekend Seminar (Friday evening & Saturday day). Step 5: We will print and send brochures & applications so that you can promote the class. We will give you an Enrollment Deadline, 4 weeks (6 weeks for international) before your starting date. Students who do not sign up by the Enrollment Deadline will be charged an additional $24- no exceptions! II. RECRUITING: Start Promoting the Class & Recruiting Students (Steps 6-8) Step 6: Start promoting the class. (Bulletins, Announcements, Posters, Radio, Brochures) Step 7: Sign-up students until the Enrollment Deadline. a. You must have a minimum of 8 students actually enroll in order to have the elective. b. Exceptional High School Students may enroll. (Must be 14 years old and in the 9 th grade to enroll.) c. See Sample Elective brochures for cost information. d. Students who do not sign up by the Enrollment Deadline will be charged an additional $24- no exceptions! 9 Course Description Leadership 201: Biblical Leadership (1 Credit hour) This 5 session course is a thorough Biblical and practical course that will help you to learn to lead others at church, at home and at work. You will learn the purpose, importance, the meaning, the qualifications, the influence and the dangers of leadership, as well as how to develop as a leader and how to pass on your leadership to others. Why a Course on Leadership? The Bible is filled with leadership principles. These principles of leadership can change our churches, ministries, businesses, careers, homes and our children. Leadership multiplies all that we do for God into the lives of others. If we want to make a difference in lives, then we need to learn God s principles of leadership. Our churches or careers cannot rise above our leadership limitations. This course can lift you to new levels as a leader.
