Meeting children's needs in other pertinent academic areas included therapeutic intervention through the use of creative writing. Individual and group testing was utilized to facilitate tracking of student s progress. I was additionally, a valued team member of the CPSE - CSE (Committee on Preschool Special Education - Committee on Special Education) as well as President - Past President of the Central Islip Special Education PTA (SEPTA), an organization of which I was a long-term Board Member, having initiated the organization s start-up with professional colleagues. Supervisory experience as an educator included training, monitoring of progress, and evaluation of performance of student teachers and teacher assistants working directly with me on a regular, yearly academic schedule. August 1975 to July Copy editor for In-House as well as Freelance publishing companies in both Manhattan and on Long Island - I worked as both an in-house and freelance copy editor for Nash Publishing, Random House, Social Policy Magazine, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. I edited numerous psychology textbooks, trade books, and antiquarian editions of books that were out of print. June 1969 to June Copy editor, manuscript writer, proofreader - BFL Communications, Freeport, NY - I worked as Chief Copy Editor for this in-house publishing company, processing trade, reprint, and scholarly books. Responsibilities included preparing "raw" manuscripts for publication -- copy editing, proofreading, trafficking proofs, and maintaining author contact and involvement and research. Additionally, I was responsible for preparing promotional copy for catalogs and book jackets and reading And reviewing manuscripts for evaluation for publishing. Supervisory experience included recruiting and training copy editors and proofreaders for both in-house and freelance publishing assignments.
