This case study explores the issues for women who make this choice. Using video of a forensic interview with a mother convicted of sexual crimes involving her child, this presentation outlines the investigation and analyzes the woman s account. The presenter will highlight how behavior analysis techniques can help in the interview process to maximize the engagement of the subject. Interviewing Sex Offenders-a behavioral analysis framework The Behavior Analysis Unit at MENTOR specializes in assisting law enforcement to understand offender behavior and create profiles of suspects who are to be interviewed in the course of investigations into serious sexual offenses involving children and/or their exploitation. The unit combines expertise from serious crime investigation psychology and social work and provides a multi-dimensional insight into offender behavior. This presentation explores the application of behavior analysis to law enforcement investigation of sexual crimes against children using technology and the internet. The primary focus is to demonstrate that by better understanding perpetrator behavior investigators can substantially improve their investigative strategy. Illustrating the techniques employed by the Behavior Analysis Unit and demonstrates their impact upon an investigation into a group of individuals using child modelling websites on the Internet as a cover for the distribution of indecent images of children. Experimentation or Exploitation: How behavior analysis can assist in working with young people exhibiting problematic sexual behavior How behavior analysis can assist in working with young people exhibiting problematic sexual behavior. Most social workers and foster care workers have worked with young people exhibiting sexual behavior yet many are anxious about working with cases where the central concerns are labelled as Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB). This presentation will seek to demystify sexual behavior in young people and provide a construct for identifying PSB and offering insights into how foster care workers and social workers can effectively engage with this issue.

The Child Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization that runs a local Child Advocacy Center. We began this conference 12 years ago in an effort to provide quality training, at an affordable rate to our dedicated multidisciplinary team members. Each year the conference has continued to grow and we are excited to have you with us. We thank each and everyone of you for all of your time, passion and commitment to protecting and standing up for children in your communities. We hope you enjoy our conference! At The Child Center, Inc. we complete forensic interviews for child victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and children who witness a violent crime. We also provide advocacy, mental health services and other necessary supports for children and their non-offending family members to assist them in the healing process. The Child Center, Inc. serves 14 counties in Northeast Missouri with offices located in Wentzville, Hannibal and Memphis Missouri. Our Child Advocacy Center is fortunate enough to not only serve child victims but also offer comprehensive school and community based prevention education programs. We provide these programs to children, professionals, local partners and parents. Although we empower children through our prevention programs we can not expect them to protect themselves, which is why educating parents and professionals is an intricate part in keeping children safe.
