Rigorous, full-time intensive English instruction in six 7-week sessions throughout the academic year On-campus institutional TOEFL and SPEAK examinations Member of professional IEP agencies such as English USA and UCIEP 4-week Summer English Language & Culture Program Monarch English Transition Program (MET) One semester program of part-time ESL coursework combined with academic coursework. Conditional admission is required for participation and must be approved by the student s academic department. 3 Student and Campus Resources Housing With 14 different housing options to choose from, living on-campus is convenient and tailored to budgets and living styles. Choices include suites, apartments, and condos in the University Village a campus community combining offices, classrooms, restaurants, and shops. Housing amenities include community lounges, wireless Internet, laundry facilities, shared kitchens, and air conditioning. Students who prefer off-campus living can speak with the Office of Housing and Residence Life about locations nearby. Library The Perry Library is the epicenter for student research and study, boasting more than 3.2 million printed volumes and a comprehensive array of digital resources from around the world. The Learning Commons, located on the first floor, provides high-tech environments for learning, collaboration, and teamwork. The Commons also has quiet study spaces, a café, a multi-media lab, and presentation practice rooms. Additional amenities housed in the library include the math and science resource centers, writing tutorial services, and the student success center. Meal Plans While a great selection of restaurants, bistros, and cafes surround the campus, a variety of on-campus meal plans are available to students living on and off-campus. Visit odu.edu/dining to learn more. Student Recreation Center ODU s 1,400 m 2 state-of-the-art fitness center is the hub for student sports, fitness, and adventure. The center s many amenities include an indoor swimming pool, fitness track, rock climbing wall, basketball/volleyball/racquetball courts, fitness studios and access to certified personal trainers. Students may also rent various sports equipment and are encouraged to take advantage of a variety of off-campus expeditions. Career Services Job fairs, internships, and co-ops are important to our students and are conveniently accessed via ODU s award-winning Career Management Center (CMC). The CMC helps students gain valuable work experience, match marketable skills with career options, and get hired. And here s an added bonus this valuable resource is available to ODU alumni as well.
